We like that it’s a small hole in the wall brick oven pizza place. Perfect for in and out. It is very nice, comfortable and welcoming. Fast & friendly service and pizza was superb. We got the Carne. Crust was thin, soft on the inside and a perfect slight chewiness on the outside. Also perfect amount of sauce & cheese. We totally enjoyed it very much. Highly recommend this place.

Great place. I heard it was good but the pizza is awesome. The lads working were great. Gotta love a wood burning pizza cooker!

We ordered 2 pizzas while having a drink in Golding’s Free Dive bar, this is one of the best pizzas we have both had in a very long time. We ordered the Parma and the Salsiccia (changing to tomato base) highly recommend both!

Wellington’s pickiest pizza fan from NYC here: This is the best pizza in the city that I’ve found so far. The winning ingredient is the crust which rivals NYC’s best. It’s soft, chewy and charred just right. It’s a little to thin to support the more ambitious pies with lots of heavy ingredients on them, but you just scoop the stuff up and eat it anyway. Be warned, though, as Pizza Pomodoro only has a couple tiny tables that are really only suited for two people each. I somehow squished my family of four at one of the tables as the fellas at the next table gave us their spare stool, but it’s tight. This is really a good take-away place, so if you plan accordingly you’ll likely have a better experience (bringing it home). 🍕

DUUUUUDE! My wife and I always try to find the “best” pizza in every major city we travel to, and HOLY LORD, at Pizza Pomodoro we may have stumbled on the BEST in the universe. SO GOOD. We ordered and had a masterpiece of a Margherita within 10 minutes. No beer on the menu, and only two tiny tables, but nooooo worries because they have a relationship with the super cool bar across the way, Goldings. You can cart your pizza the 100m over there and grab fantastic beer and enjoy it all in amazing ambience. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Definitely recommend!

What a great little place! Unexpected gem of a find, highlight of our food experiences in Wellington. We're pizza snobs from a country with a long history of Italian immigration, so we know pizza - but Pomodoro really know pizza. A+!

Every week, thanks to Massimo, we are transported straight to the heart of Italy. The flavors are authentic, the atmosphere warm, and the experience nothing short of heavenly. Pizza Pomodoro isn’t just a meal, it’s a ritual we look forward to, where passion and perfection come together in every bite. Grazie, Massimo, for making magic happen week after week!

I was desperate for a pizza, (I hadn't had a pizza in at least two months) While I did not dine in, the decor and design was a modern twist on an classic Italian, with a neon sign for instance. 31 dollars, In my opinion is quite pricey for a pizza so I was sceptical it would justify the price. While it was very good, it didn't quite justify the price for me. The tomato sauce was lacking in flavour in my opinion, not any rich, tangy flavours, nothing really too special. The mozzarella, while not bad quality, was exactly like the tomato in the sense of being good quality but not being that bit better. The "Rocket" supposed to be on the pizza was more a salad mix rather than just rocket, not really adding that peppery, fresh kick that just having rocket would. Where the pizza picks up in it's points is the stone baked base (a stone baked pizza always is a big pro for me.) The whole pizza was charred just enough, the crust being not too doughy with just a slight crisp to it. The balsamic glaze paired particularly well with the parma ham, the sweet tang complementing with the rich, salty ham perfectly. Would I come here again? Yes, but I would pick something different.

Yelp
It was good pizza, ate it at Golding's that had more room and alcohol. Chewy delicious crust.

Yelp
This place is quite hidden away in an alley and amounts to a kitchen with one or two tables; it's pretty much a takeout place. However, it's quite busy, and there was a significant wait for pizza. Upon returning to find their estimate of the time required was quite accurate, I discovered the reason for its popularity: it is delicious. They are full-on Neapolitan style, and it tastes like it. The specialty pizza I ordered was a bizarre and nonetheless delicious combination of pesto and avocado, among other things. I'm very partial to specialty vegetarian pizzas that go outside the basic. Then again, the margherita they guy next to me got looked like it used fresh mozzerella (which mine didn't), and I rather wished I'd had the chance to try that as well. Neapolitan style plus the famed NZ dairy is not a bad combination at all.

Yelp
This is the pizza served at Goldings free dive. We had the fungi and prosciutto and OMG good. Enough for two with beer. The dark on its own tap was amazing and smooth. Great bar great staff great ambiance we ate outside.

Yelp
100% epic , the flavor of the sauce. The flavor combos. Might that to wait a little if they are busy but please wait is worth every second!

Yelp
This place is the real deal - wood fired pizzas done to thin-crust perfection. I've had the margherita, the ortolano and the pomodorina and they've all been excellent. This place is busy but the service is efficient and friendly. There are a couple of tables but really this is a takeaways/delivery business. I like to pick my pizza up because Leeds Street is a relatively interesting part of the CBD and there's often a bit of drama and a bit of fun about. One suggestion, whether picking up or having your pizza delivered, order ahead (online or by phone) as it does get busy and it's not unusual for it to take over an hour for your pizza to be ready.
