On the Grid : Barbarella Pizza

"Jane Fonda workout videos aside, this local pizzeria is tight. Their thin crust pizzas are thoughtfully assembled with yummy combos such as il pero (with pears, red onions, honey and balsamic reduction) then baked in a stone oven for extra authenticity. The space is large, open and accommodating, with room for large pizza parties like you used to have in high school, but no one will get gut-rot. Order a few, share with many." - SAD Mag

Awesome spot in Mount Pleasant. We went for the simplest – margherita to take out – and were surprised why the restaurant wasn't busier. Thin, soft dough with fresh ingredients, high-quality cheese and delicious charred spots. Overall great Neapolitan-style pizza and we definitely are returning for another flavours.

Ordered Funghi pizza and Amatriciana, both of them were very good. From my view - it was quite cold at the restaurant so also the pizza was cold after 5-10min. Great selection of beers, shut out to Slow hand beers! We also ordered dessert- “Bannofe”,I would give it like 2/5 (usually big fan) but didn’t like it here tho, sorry.

Google
Drove from Surrey on a friend's recommendation and Barbarella did not disappoint. 🍕 Delicious pizza (Margherita and Divano pizzas are strongly recommended) with thin, slightly crispy crust, plus rosemary and chili oils to kick them up a notch. 🍅 The tomato soup was another winner. Friendly service and super-chill vibe. Great kids, vegetarian and vegan options, too. 🌱

Google
Nice rustic looking restaurant that opens early in the afternoon with a limited menu. We ordered Balboa and Cavolini pizzas to share. The balboa pizza was unnecessarily spicy that it was overpowering all the ingredients on the pizza. We ordered a dip ($2) to cut the spiciness, otherwise it would’ve been wasted. The other pizza was good, but the spicy pizza really took away the joy of food.

Pizza is a funny thing... It's pretty simple to make well so it's not hard to find decent pizza in Vancouver. Barbarella takes theirs a notch above well, to excellent. I had the Filetti and added sausage (excellent, and I suspect, made in house). My partner had the Cavolini. The space is pretty basic but we liked the local art featured on the walls. The service was also pretty basic but the lack of polish didn't detract from the great pizza. One last note... we've ordered for delivery but if you want the best flavours, fresh out of the oven is unbeatable.

Came here briefly with our big group. Good service. Everyone enjoyed their food. Ended up trying the 4 cheese kids pizza and the giorno verdi (chicken) pizza 🍕. Both were great. Loved the dough. Good amount of toppings. Great flavour. The decor was cozy. Unfortunately it was a quick stop for us since we had another event to attend immediately afterward. Really want to come back soon. Hope you give this place a try and like it as much as we did.

Good variety of pizzas. Service was prompt. Must try the Hawaiian pizza.

Google
Pizzeria Barbella delivered an amazing pizza experience that exceeded my expectations. The pizza itself was exceptional, showcasing a perfect blend of flavors and quality ingredients. The service was commendable, creating a positive dining atmosphere. I highly recommend trying their pizzas, as they undoubtedly stand out in taste and quality. However, it's worth noting that the online menu could use some improvement; I found it a bit confusing and, unfortunately, missed out on a whole section of pizzas. Despite this minor hiccup, I would gladly return for the delicious pizza and overall enjoyable dining experience.

Yelp
Laid back pizza spot with spread out tables and a relaxed atmosphere. Good service, but doesn't have a real vibe inside that feels like a 'night-out', feels more like sparse tables to have a quick pizza. Pizza is fresh, thin and floppy with real quality ingredients. Knife and fork might be recommended. All in all, a good spot to grab a unique type of pizza but wouldn't go out of my way to hit a second time.

Yelp
Very solid artisan pizza joint, with some tasty vegan options, but not the best value for money. We phoned in an order for a combo pizza + salad ($35). We got their Divano vegan pizza that comes with vegan alfredo sauce, cremini mushroom, potato, and various spices/herbs. For the salad, we got their spinach salad and omitted the feta to make it vegan (comes with baby spinach, arugula, strawberries, a bit of candied walnuts, and a strawberry vinaigrette. -The spinach salad came in a generous portion with a nice dressing. It wasn't the most exciting salad, but it packs in the greens and was reasonably tasty. Solid stuff. 4/5 -The pizza was tasty but small. The flavour balance was solid, with a good amount of toppings, and the crust was fresh, amply crisp, and with enough body to be decently filling. But size-wise for money (would be $23 by itself), the pizza was relatively small. You can get larger and better vegan pizzas in the same neighbourhood at Ignite and Grano. All in all, solid vegan pizza, but there are better options in Mt Pleasant.

Yelp
Pizza is on point- rich flavors, but light crust, staff super duper nice-staff/ Just all around inpressive!

Yelp
High 3 stars. While the pizza here is good quality and the crust has a bit of a crisp to it, I keep wanting to try "something different" and end up with a flop. No wait on a Wednesday night at 6pm. They were busy but there was always room for customers who came in. They have high chairs and plates/cups/flatware for toddlers! * Camillo (August drink special) - 2.5 stars. Too strong, not enough of the advertised flavors. * Balboa - 3 stars. My pick and it was way too spicy to be enjoyable. If you don't mind the spice, it's not bad. * Mestolo (August Special, artichoke + feta) - 4 stars. My partner liked this but I personally don't like artichoke. * Diavola - 3.5 stars. Nice salametti, soft, slice thin, and flavorful. My friend said it was a bit spicy, but I could barely taste it. I just had to pick off the olives!

Yelp
Neopolitan pizza place in East Vancouver. Got to try some takeout a friend brought over at a party. The toppings are pretty good. Nice fresh ingredients, and not too greasy. However, that crust is tough compared to the competition. My jaw was starting to hurt after a few slices. Knock 1 star off. I really hope they fix this.
google avatar

Yelp
There are definitely some bourgeois pizza places to be found in Vancouver, but this is an unpretentious, friendly neighborhood establishment that serves up tasty Neopolitan-style pies in a more casual environment. I recently met a friend here for an early dinner, and at 5:30pm on a Friday, we had our pick of tables in the spacious high-ceilinged dining room. The hostess/server couldn't have been more congenial and efficient, and was patient with our questions about various menu items and potential substitutions, etc. The Margherita pie is a litmus test for any pizzeria, and Barbarella's is executed well, with outstanding chewy crust, good quality mozzarella, and tomato sauce that isn't overly salty. There are numerous tempting topping options, too, such as roasted cremini mushrooms and pesto, as well as choices for vegans like vegan pepperoni and cheese. All pies come in one very ample size--I was starved at the outset and still managed to box half of mine up for leftovers. The only slight wrinkle in the dining experience was the overpowering smell of bleach/cleaning products when I first walked in. Perhaps they had just gone over the surfaces before I arrived, and I'm glad that they're committed to keeping the place sanitized, but it was all-consuming for an initial while.

Yelp
Pizzeria Barbarella is open for takeout from noon onwards but dine is only open from 3pm. There is 15% off takeout from 2-4pm. We got the Hawaiian Punch and it was delicious! Excited to go back and try more flavours!

Yelp
Passed by this restaurant on the 99 for awhile, and finally was able to try it out today. They weren't busy when we arrived for a late lunch. There's plenty of seating inside and we got to choose where to sit. There's also artwork on display on the walls with prices and the artist's name, which I thought was pretty cool. They have drink specials and because today was Saturday, it was sangria for $6. It came in a cool little mason jar. For food, we decided on getting a veggie and a meat pizza. Looking around to see the difference in size for pizzas, we chose to get regular. We got the genova and the salsiccia. It didn't take too long for the pizzas to come out. The crusts were thin, but it wasn't very crisp. It had a bit of doughiness, but it was good. I prefer my crust slightly crunchier, but it was still good. The genova was good with this kind of crust because of the arugula. The softer crust allowed for it to be folded so that the toppings would stay on. I wish the salsiccia had a bit more sausage and peppers on it. But other than that it was good. Overall, it was some solid pizza and a reasonable price. Two regular pizzas was enough for the two of us. Service was also great. She checked up on us and refilled our waters regularly. I'd definitely recommend checking this place out if you have a pizza craving!

Yelp
I had been craving for neopolitan style pizza for more than a week and I finally satisfied that craving at Pizzeria Barbarella. This place was recommended by a friend months ago and just had the chance to try it. It is located on East Broadway between Carolina St and Fraser. When we got there we waited for a bit before we got seated as they only had two servers at the time. Place is simple and airy with art on the walls. Bathrooms are pretty basic but clean. We ordered their Spinach Salad and Hawaiian Punch Pizza. I really enjoyed the spinach salad as it had arugula, feta, candied walnuts, fresh strawberries and strawberry vinaigrette. The salad was light, fresh and spring-y. The candied walnut and fresh strawberries imparted lovely texture and flavours to the salad. The pizza was really delicious! Served fresh and hot from the oven. Dough was thin but still has that nice chew on it and the toppings were full of flavour - enjoyed the contrast of flavours on the Hawaiian Punch pizza. The sweetness of the brown sugar glaze to the fruity taste of the pineapple, tartness of the tomato sauce, spiciness and saltiness of the hot capicollo and the cheesy goodness of the boconccini and the grana padano. They also have several food delivery partners as we saw an uber eats guy bring out several boxes and another guy from a different delivery app carry out at least 5 boxes.
google avatar

Sam L.

Yelp
Good but I'm not really blown away by their pies. They need more tomato sauce! I know it's Neapolitan, but the zesty, tomato-y quality seems to be under represented. We've been to the restaurant and also ordered through uber eats, and each time the food was good, but a bit lacking. I love Hawaiian pizza, haters be damned. When I saw that PB had their own version I had to try it. It's.... ok. Pineapple offers it's own sweetness, so I felt the brown sugar glaze was just overkill. Tone down on the sweetness and dial up the zesty tomato sauce and I think this would be a killer pie, in my opinion anyway. The salads are pretty standard fare, "spring greens" with basic balsamic dressing or Caesar. Good but nothing you couldn't make at home.

Yelp
Perfect pizza lunch today at Barbarella. Fragrant funghi, topped with white truffle oil and bechamel sauce- a beauty! The cavolini with fresh garlic , brussels sprout leaves, and the house made pancetta was heavenly - salty, crunchy, big taste! Do order the olives. Marinated in house, bathed with a spritz of citrus, warmed so the full flavour excites the mouth. A very generous serving for $6.00. Loved the ambiance - dark walls, lots of art for sale on the walls, full-view of the pizza oven with the temp showing, so we know we are getting a fast, hot pie. Our server was friendly and gracious. Lots of street parking, easy transit to this spot at Broadway East and Fraser.

Yelp
We order pizza for Pizzeria Barbarella through doors dash (first mistake). We ordered the Fuoco with extra cheese and extra chorizo sausage both which were almost non-existent for an additional $9 these and the other pizza we ordered was the Margherita which was ok but again not a lot going on. Two small pizzas and delivery was $74. Wow ! And the worst part was these pizza came absolutely cold. Not a at stitch of heat left in them.

Yelp
Returned to my roots/old stomping grounds - Mount Pleasant with mixed emotions. I had great memories growing up here & sliding down the hill on flattened cardboard boxes - at the park off St. Catherine's street. Buying comic books at the old corner store at Fraser was always a joy! Pizzeria Barbarella is located on Broadway at Fraser St. I actually came here 2 weeks ago thinking they sold pizza by the slice - they don't so here I am today - my return visit with my appetite ready to go! We got there when it just opened for business so we had the place to ourselves. Very cool eclectic music played in the background, interesting artworks on the walls & relaxed atmosphere with soft lighting help make this joint a place you want to hangout in. I met a friend for lunch here & we shared a Balboa pizza. Our waitress was friendly & made recommendations. We ordered a regular size & it was very good! It is spicy hot but I prefer my food to be on the mild side as I like to taste it! So we split the pizza down the middle with his side being the hot one. He said he did not notice it being hot in his mouth but sure felt it in his stomach. My side of the pizza was fantastic! I loved the sauce, the cheese, thin crust, etc - the Balboa goes down as one fine pizza! I will be going back!

Yelp
Lovely pizzeria!!!!! Simple rustic furniture with funky artwork to spice up the place, plus dim lighting to set the mood! The space is lovely for a party. Not only that, the pizzas are the best part! We had a party of about 6 and we ordered 6 pizzas to share. None of the flavours dissappointed. Everyone had their own preferences and what stood out to me was a fig pizza that was on special! The crust is fluffier and airy, but the base is thin yet it holds its' shape. I absolutely adore this place and am looking forward to my next visit. They also have a wide selection of tap beers to pair with your pizza! Enjoy!!!

Yelp
Delicious pizza margarita, creative and delectable Hawaiian pizza. The wait staff was speedy, accommodating and friendly. I would say pizzeria Barbarella and farina are the best places in town for a great pizza pie ;). Barberella's pizza was larger than Farinas and there are more menu options there aswell. That being said, I do prefer the atmosphere at Farinas....Barbarellas seemed like it really needed a decorator or just more visual personality to match the great food and service we received.

Ron W.

Yelp
Ok if all you want to do is drink but the pizza is not that good. The ingredients are probably not number one.
google avatar

Elvi R.

Yelp
Loved that this was close to a traditional style pizza but that had vegan options on their menu. Will definitely be going back to try the other vegan pizza on the menu.
google avatar

Amy T.

Yelp
In order to decide if a pizza place is actually good or not, I usually try their Margherita pizza. It's a simple pizza with only a few ingredients so you can't hide or mask the taste. It was high quality and delicious. Pizzeria Barbarella serves Neapolitan style pizzas which is my favorite. The only downside was the ventilation or fan was broken so it was smokey in the restaurant all night. A little uncomfortable and I wish they mentioned that to people instead of ignoring it.
google avatar

Yelp
This is such a hidden gem! Kind of a random location on Broadway at Fraser but such a good spot. Really chill atmosphere, good drink options, and great pizza. Pizza is very thin (one of them was a little soggy in the middle, which I don't love) but the crust is amazing and the toppings are really creative. Had good service - one of the staff even wrapped up my leftover pizza in foil and a ziploc bag after I told her a box wouldn't work since I wanted to put it in my purse. Custom doggie bag - really can't ask for more than that!

Yelp
This was my first food stop coming into Vancouver for vacation, and I was very pleased with our experience. It was a Thursday afternoon, so they weren't busy at all. My boyfriend and I split the balboa with the hot pepper sauce on the side - only because the waitress warned us that it was pretty spicy. The spice is just the perfect kick, so if you're worried - you can get the sauce on the side like we did, but I think that if we were to go back I'd order the same pie just as it's supposed to come. We shared a large, which was a decent size -- but we were also not starving. I think if I came with a huge appetite I'd want my own large. LOL Overall, GREAT first meal. If I had a pizza scale, 10 being the best? I'd give them a solid 8.5. Not to mention, our waitress was really helpful AND they have free-wifi, which were life-savers throughout our travels in Vancouver.

Leo R.

Yelp
Despite the fact that some of their pizzas are tasty (at times too floppy) unffor i Must say that it's one of the slowest pizza Kitchens in the city. Whether in person or online orderS, expect to wait a very long time for your food. Having worked in a pizza joint for years and seeing them in action, I must say the pizzaiolis are a little too laid back.
google avatar

Yelp
Love this pizza! Love love love this pizza! Love love love love love this pizza! Really, though, I love the thin crust crispy pizza. They come in one size, I'd consider it a large. It's good for two people; but I greedy and must have my own. I highly recommend the Balboa, it's my favorite. It has tomato, hot pepper sauce, bocconcini, aged mozzarella, spicy salametti, house- made pancetta, hot capocollo, cremini mushrooms, red onion, grana padano....so tasty! The vibe is casual, nice place to meet with friends. I've seen kids there, not sure if it's a place for kids. They have beer on tap and a variation of wines. They do not do delivery but do take out. The average price for a pizza is about $18. A decent price for good pizza I think. The staff are very nice and knowledgeable and more than happy to answer any questions. I just love this place!

Yelp
I saw this reviewed on the front page of Yelp on November 9th and book marked it. The decor is simple wooden, clean and basic. Very casual. The place looks small, however, it can hold a decent amount of people. Our waitress Sarah was awesome. She appreciated my sense of odd humor. I ordered Pizza, however, wanted half packed right away for lunch and so that I didn't over eat. Out of sight out of mind. She admitted that she has never heard of someone do that before. I am happy whenever I am the first. The box came unmarked, therefore, I decorated it. Nice ambiance that is low lit, however, not dark. No blaring music, therefore, it was easy to talk. Free wifi. Our Pizzas came out to our table in less than 10 minutes. As for the pizza it was amazing. Good ratio of cheese to sauce. This pizza would make a Ninja Turtle happy.

Yelp
This restaurant is amazing! My husband and I were sitting in our hotel room craving pizza. We didn't want delivery or a slice, we wanted to sit down in a restaurant and eat some really delicious pizza. Pizzeria Barbarella did not disappoint. First impression, loving the minimalist decor. Very clean and modern. There are plenty of tables that are not too close together so you do not feel like you're eating dinner with your table neighbour. We were greeted by a lovely hostess who let us choose our own table. Our server was phenomenal. An Australian woman who was eager to tell us about the menu and made excellent beer recommendations. Based on our servers recommendations we ordered two pizzas to split - miele piccante and genova. They were both equally delicious. I loved the spicy/sweet combination of the miele piccante. The crust was cooked to perfection and was not too thin and not too thick. The tomato base sauce was delicious as well and tasted homemade. I would order this pizza for the rest of my life if I lived locally. The genova is pesto based and is full of flavour. I love the combination of olives, artichokes and the cheese. So, so yummy! Just the right amount of sauce with all of the toppings. I also love that the pizzas are split into four slices. It's like they know their pizza is that amazing and you're going to eat the whole thing. They do a lot of take out business. During our time in the restaurant we saw upwards of 10 people come by to pick up their pizza order. Clearly they popular in the area! This was some of the best pizza I have ever had and I wish I could eat there again. The service was exceptional and the ambiance is enjoyable. Thank you for the fantastic dinner experience Pizzeria Barbarella. I would give you 10 stars if I could.

Patricia C.

Yelp
I was unable to get service because the chef was angrily throwing barricades and spreading hate during a peaceful protest on the road. Would never support a business that supports hate over peace. What a shame. Pizza was cold and gross. Service was super slow too.

Yelp
First off, this is a cool spot to sit and dine in. There's lots of open space. The pizza tasted great. We ordered the funghi pizza with coppocolla. They forgot the coppocolla at first, but then offered the pizza on the house and prepared the pizza with coppocolla. I appreciate that they remade the pizza and gave us the other one. The cost of the pizza is around $18 plus more for extra toppings; however, it tastes great. The flat bread is perfectly made. We also ordered some drinks. The beer of the day was local and only $5.25 for a pint. However, we also ordered house wine which ended up being pricey. Either it's a little overpriced or they gave us the wrong wine. Overall, if you like pizza, then you should try this place.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I came here on a Tuesday night around 7pm because he read raving reviews on Yelp. Upon arrival, we were seated immediately as the restaurant was only half full. To start, we both ordered caesars - the clamato juice is made in house (awesome that it's free of preservatives). As for our entree, we shared the Genova pizza but had to substitute the pesto sauce for a tomato-based sauce due to allergy reasons. Thankfully, making substitutions was not a problem at all. However, the reason I gave this restaurant a rating of 3 out of 5 stars is because unfortunately I'm not a fan of chewy pizza. On the bright side, unlike many other reviewers mentioned, we experienced great service.

Yelp
As a health-conscious, or waistline-conscious foodie (quite the oxymoron I know), I've tried to stay away from doughy indulgence, for instance - pizza. But once in a while I do crave a bit of Sicilian indulge that bring back the fond memories of my month in Italy. A friend of mine decided to fix Pizza Barberella for my blind date. The rationale was that if the date sucked, at least the food rocked. Makes sense. We started with the generous plate of antipasto - an assortment of cheese, cured meat, olives, pickled jalapeño peppers and fresh-baked bread with a side bowl of extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar. What a great way to wake up all the taste buds and warm up our conversation. Our pizza choices were: 1) Margherita - tomato, fior di latte, aged mozzarella, basil, parmigiano reggiano and extra virgin olive oil. 2) Funghi - besciamella, fontina, oven roasted cremini mushrooms, parmigiano reggiano and white truffle 3) Amatriciana - tomato, fior di latte, aged mozzarella, house cured and smoked pancetta, red onions, fresh garlic, chili flakes, parmigiano reggiano and extra virgin olive oil 4) Diavola - tomato, fior di latte, aged mozzarella, spicy salami, nicoise olives and extra virgin olive oil Every bite into the cheesy, flavorful thin crusted pizza is like re-living the moment in Napoli. Every mouthful is a beautiful balance of toppings, sauces, and thin-crust. My favourite ones are the Margherita and the Funghi pizza as they taste as close as the ones I had in Italy. To summarize the highlights: Toppings are fresh, portions are generous, and the service is warm and welcoming. I guess I've found the cure to my pizza craving. Cheerio~ Oh, forgot to mention, the food rocked. *You get the hint.*

Yelp
Best pizza I've ever had in my life and I mean that seriously! I will definitely be returning here

Yelp
As advertised. Perhaps even a bonus star for providing Neapolitan-style pizza in Mount Pleasant area. First off, they have a few picture frames from the Mad Man TV series, one of my all-time favorites but I digress. Pretty pricey too, think the artist asking $800, but let's digress again. Ordered the sausage chorizo, and for the pan size, more than enough. Nice crust too. Friendly service, she knew her pizzas. Kinda industrial & artsy decor, so makes for unique place to go out. Kudos for that. Free parking.

Yelp
I waited to go here until they got liquor! I like to have wine when I dine out. I got a nice sized glass of Spanish Tempranillo that was only $6. I enjoyed it. But onto the star, the pizza! It was definitely the best pizza I've had in Vancouver -- to date. I've been trying all the new Neapolitan places and this is tops for me! The crust is so good! I could taste each topping and the flavours melded together in harmony. We had the diavola and the amatriciana, the latter being our fave. That pancetta was crazy delicious! Wow! The leftover pizza out of the fridge was just as good the next day, which I had for breakfast and then lunch... The decor/ambiance is nothing to write home about but it doesn't matter when pizza as good as that is being served. We will be back!
google avatar

Chris S.

Yelp
Pizza cooked in intense heat so that the crust bubbles and chars just a little bit - so good! Wonderful flavour combinations. Great pizza! I'll be back

Yelp
This used to be out go to pizza place because of the excellent service and great quality of Nepalese pizza. I always loved the Margherita pizza and the happy servers here. We decided to give it a change since we heard of the change in ownership and that it wasn't as good as before. Always give second chances right? The pizza was a few levels down w poor crusts and not high quality pizza. They messed up our order. But the worse was the service. I haven't had such bad service in so long. The waitresses looked angry when serving us, and she never came to wipe up the mess the flights made, none of them could barely hold the hot pan and basically flipped the pizza on the table and almost on my hand as I was scrambling to father the finished dishes to hand to her. I'm not going back again and I feel sad that such a great place has degraded to this state. I would have given them 4 stars in the past. After trying the pizza it was 3 stars but after the service then it's just sad at that point.

Halei J.

Yelp
I like this place...very good pizza, very casual, non-pretentious like some pizza places in gastown and friendly service. Quality ingredients on a nice crust and cool beer specials. I shall be back!

Yelp
My first 5 star goes to Pizzeria Barbarella. Best pizza I've had in awhile. I enjoyed the ambiance and will definitely be back. Service is also great and I hope this doesn't change. We had: salsiccia tomato, fior di latte, aged mozzarella, fennel sausage, house pickled peppers, basil, parmigiano reggiano and extra virgin olive oil $15 and amatriciana tomato, fior di latte, aged mozzarella, house smoked pancetta, red onions, fresh garlic, chili flakes, parmigiano reggiano and extra virgin olive oil $16 Both were excellent and I can't wait to try the other pizzas.

Yelp
Tried this pizzeria and really enjoyed the service and food here. We ordered the marguerita and balboa pizza. They have the choice to add toppings so we added some salametti to the marguerita pizza. The crust was perfectly crispy and tender. The balboa pizza was a bit more difficult to eat as there were so many toppings it kept falling apart. Great atmosphere and amazing art on the walls. Will definitely return here again.

Yelp
Not as sexy as Jane Fonda. I haven't experimented much with the whole neapolitan/pizza explosion yet, nor will I use the word authentic because I have no idea what that tastes like. We started with the antipasto. House baked bread was great, though the meats, olives, and cheese really weren't that good. We shared the salsiccia pizza. I like the fennel sausage but the tomato made the crust soggy which was a turn off. Booze is somewhat cheap with a bottle of red as low as $20.

Yelp
When the restaurant sign went up, I looked at the online reviews for the previous location that they've owned "Ah-Beetz Pizzeria" which came with lots of raving reviews so I had to call upon my friends to join me on to this venture to check out this new Pizzeria joint hidden away in Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood of East Van. A group of 6 of us went down last nite and enjoyed the most Delicious Gourmet, Fire Roasting Pizza ever and from what we understand its an NY/Naples hybrid pizza creations. Its hard to find an pizza artistzan who takes pride and love into his food and develop such flavours on to an 12" platter. The ambience and decor are extremely cozy with an modern twist especially with the custom built table tops, bar, and pizza table front from the 100yr old reclaimed douglas fir wood of the beautiful heritage building Pantages Theatre. The next visit that I make is to try out the pizza's with the home-made sausages and smoked pancetta. Let the Cravings Begin!!

Yelp
If I could, I would rate Barbarella as 3 1/2 stars. We decided to just grab a few pizzas to go, and went with some of the more popular ones: Funghi: this was my favorite. Although the pizza was simple, the combination of cheese, crust and mushrooms was really good. Salsiccia: the pizza was fine, but the addition of the pickled peppers wasn't that great to me. I will have to come back here and eat in the restaurant (nice, casual space). There is street parking around the restaurant as well.

Yelp
We are pizza lovers and tried Barbarella for the first time yesterday. Ordered a selection of 4 pizzas for take out. Liked the friendly staff during pick up. Liked the crust which is Napoletana style. Our only problem was that 3 of the 4 pizzas (the ones with meat) were seasoned so hot that even the three of our group who like heat struggled to enjoy the meal. And the other 2 members of our group who are a little more heat sensitive had no chance.

Yelp
I've been here at least half a dozen times or more and each time I've always enjoyed my pizzas. There's just something about their freshly-made thin-crust pizzas that are so appealing. My go-to salad is their Caesar and honestly believe it's one of the best in town. Their staff are always friendly, which is always a plus.

Yelp
I enjoy trying the new special each month, though I do have some tried and true preferred pies. This place also has a real neighbourhood feel; I always feel comfortable there, and the pizza is delicious. I was once there and some guy at the next table was arguing that he should have gotten the happy hour rate (even though it wasn't) because he was some level-five yelp reviewer, and I wanted to slap him in defense of this place. Don't be a jerk to my beloved pizza place!

Yelp
This is my second review for this pizzeria. Thought we would give it a second chance - that was our first mistake! Instead of just bad bruschetta, we got burnt pizza AND bad service. Never going to Pizzeria Barbarella again. You want great pizza with great service? Go to Brooklyn pizza at Fraser and Kingsway - a mere 6 blocks from Barbarella.

Yelp
The most terrible service I've had here ever! And the pizza was worse then the service itself. On a rainy Sunday in Vancouver, with staff far out weighing the patron count you'd expect a little more, perhaps the offer of another beer or a simple how is everything. Nothing. The pizza was drenched in oil so much so, that you couldn't even pick it up, it literally just fell apart onto the tray, beer was not tapped, 45minutes for food with only one other couple in the place. Save yourself the hassle and go elsewhere. This place has clearly gone down hill from the delicious food and warm service I've always remembered. Beyond disappointing. For a pizza and a salad at a 50 dollar price tag. It was a complete joke.

Yelp
Really great pizza. Taste-wise, the margarita is delicious, I just wish there could get a little more crunch on the bottom of the crust. The tables all have a chilli and regular olive oil on them. I really like the chilli oil. Everything vegetarian is clearly marked, and they had some tasty looking vegan options for pizza and desert. It has a nice selection of craft beers on tap. Atmosphere is pretty casual, it has a college pub type of feel.

Yelp
You know a pizza is good when upon reheating it, it still tastes as good as the day you bought it. While exploring the eclectic East Van neighbourhood with a friend we stumbled upon this place and decided to give it a try. The decor is nothing to inspire your imagination as in don't expect much of an ambiance. Our server was friendly but upon my comment "You should open a location downtown" she replied "Maybe you should move to East Van"! I tried the blueberry Mojito that was on special, full of blueberries and a nice dark rum. As for the pizza I ordered the Margarita, which had ample cheese and the sauce was delicious; although there could have been less of it. Overall I'd recommend checking this place out if you are in the neighbourhood.

Yelp
Pizzeria Barbarella If you're looking for a classic Italian pizza then you should probably check this place. Although the lighting could have been better and the serves the pizza was a five out of five.

Yelp
Pizza was good. And I appreciate the fact that they use olive oil instead of helping Heinz become more rich. I couldn't eat the vegetables on top even though they are supposed to be good for my health. They didn't taste good.

Yelp
Dear Barbarella, The Hawaiian Punch used to blow my mind. It also used to have tons of ham on it and loaded with fresh pineapple smoked in house. Now there is hardly any pineapple and it's not smoked in house??? What the heck happened? The quality went down but the price went up? You're charging close to 20 bucks for a pizza and did you really think I wouldn't notice that 1/3 of the toppings are missing? I was going here weekly from the start. For those that don't know how good this place once was - they have no idea what they are missing out on. Don't let the greed get the best of you barbarella. It's not too late to go back to how good you once were. Before people start to catch on and then move on....
