Pizzeria - Ristorante-Cicchetteria Alla Strega Venezia

We absolutely love it! Because we visited in January, on a Monday evening to be more precise, the place was quite empty. We were convinced by the Happy Hour offer - one spritz (Aperol, Campari or Select) and two cicchettes (which were really just some amazing bruschettas) - for just 6 euros. The waiter was extremely nice and was the one that convinced us to stay there actually. 100% recommend, for this nice offer, for the atmosphere and for the location, being a restaurant located in a not so touristical spot of Venice. Also, strongly recommend it for the music, they played all the 80s iconic hits.

I don’t know why this place wasn’t packed! We happened by it around lunch time and stopped to eat. The inside is beautiful, and there’s a courtyard in the back with grape vines growing overhead and a fountain. All the staff were so kind and attentive. The cheese plate appetizer was a perfect starter, the pizza and pasta were also good.

Best food we had in Venice. The staff are very good, friendly, helpful and attentive but not too attentive. Good English. It is off the main drag but worth finding, it is only a 9 minute walk from St Mark's Square, and we don't walk fast. The food was fantastic, the flavours were excellent. My risotto was perfect and my husband loved his fish, with an amazing sauce. Our desserts were great too. Would highly recommend this place to anyone.

If we could give 10 stars, we absolutely would! 😍 We had dinner here last night and loved it so much that we just had to come back again tonight! Everything was incredibly delicious, truly unforgettable. Every dish we tried was amazing, but the homemade tiramisu was out of this world, probably the best we’ve ever had! The staff were so kind and attentive, and we especially want to thank Mauricio, who made our evening even more special with his warm and friendly service. Sadly, we’re heading home tomorrow, but if we had just a few more days here, we’d definitely come back every single night! Thank you for such a wonderful experience! 💖🇮🇹

We came in because the place looked really beautiful, and their garden caught our attention. My wife and I ended up loving it. Great vibe, super friendly staff and amazing food. They have vegetarian options and really tried to understand us even with the language barrier.

Don’t let the Google reviews fool you! The restaurant has a completely new management and the food is the best we had in Venice for sure, maybe even in whole Italy (and we have been to quite some places :)). The servers are very kind and funny the garden in the back looks amazing and even the glasses are made out of Murano glass. 6/5 stars!! :) the best dinner we have had with my fiancé for quite some time!!

We were drawn in by the gluten free pizza sign and it was very tasty. The Caesar salad, my husband’s risotto and dessert were delicious. The atmosphere was lovely and all the servers were kind and responsive. Definitely recommend, especially if you’re gluten free!

We had a lovely meal here for our first night in Venice. Food came out quickly and drinks were amazing too! The lobster linguine was delicious with the perfect amount of spice. We sat in the courtyard which is a lovely quiet break from the bustling tourist-packed centres. Lots of vegetarian options and there is also plenty of gluten free pizza and pasta. Yasin looked after us so well - all of the staff were friendly and were very grateful to them for speaking to us in English. We hope to be back on our next trip to Venice!

We got to this restaurant because of its high rating on Google Maps. And it turned out true. We got there on Sunday night, at about 8 o'clock or even later. That's why some of the dishes we initially wanted were out. However, what we got was wonderful. I had beef in red wine sauce, which was super juicy and delicious. My husband had fettuccine with duck and was extremely pleased with his choice. We ordered half a liter of house wine, which was very good and finished off with crème brûlée, which was prepared, literally at the table. And to make our evening even more pleasant, there was a live music with a nice guitar player singing crowd favorites. The overall check was on a high side (100€), but with music and all in al, the overall value was reasonable.

One of our best meals in Venice. Had the a le tole pizza, black pasta, and sea bass ravioli. All were terrific. And the ambiance inside is wonderful. Highly recommend this place.

Absolutely loved A Le Tole. We ordered the Seafood platter, 2 pizzas, the black squid pasta and they were all delicious. We had semifreddo and tiramisu for dessert - yum yum x2! Our waiter was friendly and funny and the live entertainment on guitar was on point blasting age appropriate bangers. Add a bottle of wine and it was our best meal in Italy so far and that includes some nice restaurants in Rome. Highly recommend! Prices are reasonable for the experience and quality. Not cheap, not crazy expensive. They do charge a service fee of $5 pp.

I went to Italy in search of the wondrous pasta, and when this one restaurant didn't open when it was supposed to, I ran into this one that opened instead. I'm really glad it did, because I didn't want to leave Venezia without trying squid ink pasta. I've asked them to make the pasta more cooked than al dente, and it was definitely accomplished without losing some chew. The sauce which you can't see well in the picture was very light, and I just loved the sauce with the scallops which were overcooked. I ended up eating most of the pasta. The house salad was very much needed when I've been missing vegetables in my life. Since meals don't have as much veggies in them, a fresh salad was much necessary. The produce was fresh, and it wasn't overly dressed. I finally got to try an Italian dessert at this restaurant because I've been killed with big portions on entrees and appetizers in other places. So in lieu of appetizers, I made room for dessert and found the berry cheesecake really tasty (not as sweet as some other sweets I've tried in Italy... thank God!). The service here was highly attentive, and my server who also appears to be a manager didn't mind that I was party of one. She recommended a white wine from Lugano that went perfectly with my meal. She wanted me to take my time although the restaurant was full. I love the lack of pressure to finish my food and move on. I hope to be able to come back one day and try their pizza. It was nice way to end my last night here.

While the pasta dishes were not super special (other than the flavors), we had one of the nicest and friendliest services in Venice! Very nice seating and air conditioned as well, and a large selection of seafood pastas. The squid ink was a bit bland, but the saffron pasta had a good sauce and probably is the best item on the menu!

Sometimes words cannot fully convey how much you enjoyed a meal. This is one of those experiences. Some of the best gluten free pizza I've ever had (and I've tried a lot in the US and Europe). Absolutely delicious and high quality ingredients. This restaurant is in a bit less crowded area, but it's highly worth the detour to try their pizza. I had the A Le Tore pizza. It's rich, but delicious. Honestly, it's almost hard to believe the crust was gluten free. One note. They only have gluten free pizza, not pasta. Therefore we only tried the pizza and cannot comment on any other items. They also have very reasonable prices.

Lamb chops: 10/10, so soft and flavorful Gnocchi: 9/10 was also very delicious Black spaghetti: 8/10, scallops were so tender, taste was flavorful but not overpowering Spaghetti & Mixed seafood: 9/10 Food was amazing quality and great tasting, servers were so nice and funny!! Ambiance was nice, there was a live singer and he sounded very good

We had dinner at A Le Tole tonight after reading a number of positive Yelp reviews. The reviews were spot on. This is a great place with a terrific atmosphere and even better tasting food. We were greeted with enthusiasm and seated promptly, even if it was slightly before their posted dining hours. Our order was taken quickly and the food was dispensed even faster. You would think with the quick efficiency that the food would be lacking but it wasn't. The presentation and taste of the food was outstanding. We started off with the cheese, mushroom and honey drizzle appetizer. It was one of the tastiest dishes we've had in all of the Venice. For our only main course we had both of the calzones, and they were the best we've had in all of Italy. We ended our dining experience with the Tiramisu desert which was exquisitely delicious. They have live music which was eclectic, entertaining and not overly loud or overbearing. This is a clean, neat, and cool looking restaurant with great food at reasonable prices that should be on your short list while in Venice,

I had a reservation for one and when I came in, they started to get a table ready for me and then said, "actually we have a reservation for this table. Are you okay if we put you here?" And it was the worst table in the entire restaurant. Right up front. By the piano. Literally touching the piano. But the table that was free was for 4 people and I was just 1 so I said of course. Next thing I know, I'm sitting at this table, facing the wall, and they split the table of 4 into 2 tables of 2 and sat a couple at one of them. I was going to ask about moving to the other but then people came in who knew the workers so they (of course) got the table. I'm not knocking that at all!! What I want to focus on is the way I was treated as a one person table. They would come over to me and basically talk to me like I was a child. I didn't have one consistent waiter, I had about 3. And yes, the food was good, but what does that mean when the experience was so horrendous? I understand the strangeness of a singular person out to eat for dinner, but there's no reason to act like they're an alien dropped onto planet earth for the first time. And to place me at this table when I HAD A RESERVATION is the worst part.

I have realized that the pasta and pizza in the States are CRAP after coming to this place. We stumbled upon this place when we saw a passionate pasta man making fresh pasta behind the glass display. They had a pretty long wait at an early time but we decided to wait and man that was a great decision! The pasta is so fresh and cooked to perfection. The A Le Tole pizza was the most amazing pizza I have ever tried. The prices were so reasonable for the amazing quality of the food! We ordered soo much food and we couldn't finish it because we were stuffed.

We visited Venice on a day trip and checked out the local food scene with yelp and came across this place, and we dropped by for a quick lunch. After many twists and turns, we found this restaurant. After a long decision process (in which the waiters weren't very helpful with) we decided on the Squid pasta and the Black and White Squid Ink pasta. Overall the pasta was alright, but definitely over priced. While the Squid pasta was good, the Black and White Pasta the wife ordered was extremely Bitter, which we weren't sure was supposed to happen. If you stop by Venice, I recommend going to the grab and go place that seems to be the highest rated in the area, and only has 1 Euro sign.

So, my son loves Airbnb and is practically a Premier as he's used them in his travels around Spain and now Italy! You must be asking what does that have anything to do with this review right? We toured a few cities in Italy and decided to have him plan it which included Airbnb's! Truly did not care for Airbnb's until we landed in Venice & stayed at Nicoleta's! Nicoletta's place restored my faith in Airbnb! Now comes this hidden Gem she highly recommended. It's near the only Hospital on Venice, we ported at Campo San Giovanni Paolo and if you see trees they are the restaurant across the purse Store on the left! The food was absolutely divine! When in Venice you MUST eat here plus they have an amazing singer to go with your dinner (posted in yelp pics)! Una Gemma nascosta assolutamente perfetta! (An absolutely perfect hidden gem)!

Neat place. Mussels and clams were very good. Atmosphere is perfect. Jazzy music really hit the mark (aside - Black Hole Sun should NEVER be covered by a jazz band!) The squid ink pasta with scallops just didn't do it for me. Ive only had squid ink pasta once before and remember it being better than this - although even then, wasn't great. Lobster spaghetti was also just okay.

A fantastic find, all thanks to Yelp. I love squid ink pasta. A swimming pool full of it would be my last meal. Rarely have I had a forkful which didn't elicit an improper degree of arousal. That's the baseline. And then there's A Le Tole. I never imagined I'd enjoy a black pasta more than the pasta at Joso's in Toronto. A Le Tole is beyond imagination. Granted, the sauce is entirely different than Joso's. This isn't a squid ink sauce, it's a squid ink pasta. The sauce itself had a deeper seafood flavour, more intense olive oil, and a viscosity that imagine is the product of adding butter and flour to juices left behind by the scallop. I don't know, I'm not a chef, but I do know that this pasta was one of the best I've had in recent memory. Whenever I experience a great painting, film, passage in a book, and - yes - food, I let out a sigh. I sigh because whatever it is I'm experience is beautiful and satisfying. I sighed a bajillion times eating this pasta. The end.

A truly great experience. Make sure to get reservations. Lunch is not as busy so then would be your best shot to walk in. The pizzas are all amazing. A lot to choose from but you won't be disappointed. Outside of that, the main thing to get is the squid ink pasta. You'll be in good heaven. A can't miss if in Venice

This was a very popular spot! We had an amazing dinner there. Lots of fresh pasta and other dishes. Live music was great. Portions were very very generous ! Highly recommend!

BEST MEAL I HAD IN ITALY!!! COME HERE IF YOU CAN! So glad I stumbled upon this quaint restaurant in Venice. We luckily landed reservations the same day for 9pm that night. When you walk in, there was live music playing and cozy cute lights everywhere. Very romantic! The place is small, so make sure to get your reservations!! We also got free Prosecco while waiting for our table - so nice of them! The king prawn spaghetti was SO GOOD! It wasn't heavy, perfectly flavorful, and the prawns were huge! Their signature pizza was also one of the best pizzas I've had in Italy! It was so unique. It had sliced of pork on it, which I've never had before. We also got free dessert! I don't know what kind of cheesecake it was, but it was AMAZING! 5 stars! Please come check this place out if you're in Venice! Prices are actually really affordable too! I would eat here every day if I could.

Went with my family a couple of weeks ago. They were able to accommodate a group of 10 if you request in advance. Pastas were amazing; I had one with black squid ink and scallops, and one of the best pizzas I tried was with brie and arugula. Would definitely come back!

Pizza is not the same as in Rome or Florence but other dishes were good and service was good and food came quickly and they had excellent live jazz music from a solo singer.

Came here because of the raved reviews!! But dang!! No raving needed for this! I'm lucky enough to come to Italy every year! And also lucky enough to have generations of true blue Italians as family in Rome. We grow everything! Feel to table! Homemade wine! Homemade pasta! Meat! Oil! You name it, we all got it! Perhaps I'm spoilt! This place was no raving matter!! First off: you can't be an Italian restaurant in Italy without offering any appetizers or secondis aka second plates: meat, seafood etc!! This place doesn't!!! :O SAY WHAT! Hold my wine glass!! Che! Ok ok. They did say spaghetteria . But still!! I did give them a chance/ chances!! And then: they have pastas: fresh made. Rolling it out as we type!! Various kinds! But reservation required! We came with reservation: barely got in! So crowded! Pasta: overly salty everything!! Fresh pasta can't defend such salty sauces and oil!!! And I've never had such a bare meal in Italy before. No apps: no second played! No salads! It's what you expect from Italian style restaurants in US but not here! Weird indeed! The recommend dish: the lobster pasta. Again, coming here right after Rome and family homes/meals, where a simple tomato sauce is so sweet and tasty!! This was a let down! The homemade pasta was good but the sauce wasn't! And it's in pomodoro: not the easiest sauce to eat the lobster in! The Venetian dish/ the squid ink spaghetti. Mine came with scallops and asparagus. Yey for spring! Asparagus season!!! Asparagus, fresh pasta and olive oil is the best dish! Not this one! Way too salty!! Almost too salty to eat!! Also: needed more protein! Not used to not having another course: I tried a third pasta dish: the duck pasta. It was good. Salty again!!! The only non overly salty, luckluster dish was the dessert. So I thought! But it failed me again!! Panna cotta?? Si! Say it ain't so! It was a tiny layer of cream with crumb filled cake! Brrr!!? Overall, it was a ok!! Oh yea, the saffron and shrimp pasta was there somewhere too!! It was down pour and thunder storm outside. Waiters are friendly/ all spoke fluent English and French! Perhaps that was a draw for most!! I almost left! But!! Venetian rain is no joke! I stayed in Piazza San Marco/ Grand Canal hotel. Coming here was a trek! But holy crap: going back in torrential downpour! Almost drowned in Venice!! Nearly!!! Over a very salty very non Italian meal :)

This was the best meal we had in Venice! We had our first meal here and it was a great choice!! We shared a pizza and black and white ravioli and it was all delicious! Everything was affordable as well.

My friends and I came across A Le Tole on our first night in Venice. Upon arriving we noticed the laid back atmosphere and the food. What captivated us most was the pasta and pizza on the front windows, fresh made pasta and pizza, we couldn't beat that. Being that we arrived at 7pm, the restaurant was booked for dinner. Luckily, the wait ended up being only 25 min(reasonable). The service was quick, we got our orders taken immediately. I ordered the Potatoes Pizza and my friends had pasta. The food was to die for, who would of thought to put French fries on a pizza (delicious). I paired it with 1 of their only 2 beer options for the night and couldn't be happier. Highly recommend, the food it mouth dropping, the live music is entertaining and the service is good. If I am ever in Venice, I will make this my First stop.

Found by chance, but we came back ! It was late in the day when we were starting to look for a place to get diner, we wanted to make reservation to make sure that we would find a nice place. So we checked on yelp, reserved a table online and we went there. We were glad that we reserved because they were refusing people as they were very busy. We loved to see the home made pasta from the glass outside, I felt like it was a unique place! We had pizza one time, and the second time we tried the pasta. We were intrigued by the ink pasta, so we tried it ! It doesn't have the taste of "regular" pasta, so don't be afraid to try them ! The pizza were tasty, the only problem was that there were TOO MANY pizzas, so difficult to find THE one. I would have love to go back again and again to try all these pizzas... People were nice, I felt like a touristy place but not somewhere where they steal our pockets... Give a shot!

Located a little off the beaten path in the heart of Venice is A Le Tole. My wife and I were staying at an Airbnb and the owners highly recommended this place, so we came on the last night of our stay in Venice. It has a very laid back atmosphere. They have fresh made pasta in the front window and you can smell the wonderful food before you even enter. We were immediately seated. We were told that told we could get the pizza right away or we could wait 30 minutes to get the pasta. There is live music and restrooms you don't have to pay for in the back. My wife got the pizza and I got the seafood pasta. The wine is inexpensive since you are in Italy of course and extremely good. We got 500 ml of wine (3 glasses of wine each) and it only cost 8 euros. The service was quick, the waiters spoke English and the food was excellent. It cost 40 euros for everything. Ridiculous and awesome! If I ever find myself back in Venice I am definitely coming back here.

I'll be honest, I decided to come here because another yelper described having "sticky wet fantasies" about this place and I think that I deserve that too. Overall I had a good experience. I did make a reservation online but that seemed to do nothing as it was quickly forgotten after checking in with the host. Hey, these things happen. I was also not-so-stoked to be seated in the dark corner of the restaurant. Poor luck? Maybe. However, the rate of service and the food itself definitely made up for everything. My friend and I were served extremely fast (one might question if they were trying to get us out of there) but I've no complaints as I was quickly aquatinted with a HEARTY pasta dish with a duck meat sauce. I'm not going to say I saw heaven when I ate it but I can't necessarily rule it out. This is a trendy-looking restaurant with great food (and I did see a live musician performing). Definitely worth the trek over.

Food: Order the pastas. We came here for the squid ink pasta. The best dish was a red sauce with lobster. Also ordered the four cheese pasta and a pomodoro. And a pizza with goat cheese and cured meats. Everyone ate the lobster dish first and then we ate the others. We even ate all the red sauce with pizza crust to get every last drop. The red sauces were better than the cream sauce and the squid ink pasta. Dessert was a bunch of samplers. They were just okay. Only giving three stars because we only liked the lobster pasta. Service: Excellent. Atmosphere: Bright, clean, cloth tableclothes. We had a musician who played an organ and songs from the '80s.

In a city full of tourist traps, this restaurant is a true gem. Each dish we ordered was fantastic and unique, I have never had anything like it. We went earlier in the evening and were able to get a table for three right away. We started with a very simple marinara pizza, only tomato sauce and garlic. I never expected one of the best pizzas I have eaten to have no cheese, but this pizza proved me wrong. Each bite was a pleasure, the sauce was so vibrant in flavor and the paper-thin dough maintained consistency throughout. By far the best pizza I have had throughout my stay in Italy. After the pizza we were quickly served three pasta dishes. We had no idea the meal could get better, but it did. The gnocchi ragu was perfectly cooked, with the sauce on the slightly sweeter side. We ordered their black pasta with scallops and it was fantastic, the scallops were very well cooked and the pasta itself was perfectly al dente. We also ordered the veal cheek pappardelle and this dish was truly a star. The veal was very well cooked and paired beautifully with the homemade pasta. As I write this review I am frantically attempting to fit another stop at this restaurant into my schedule, it is that good. The only complaint I have is that the wait staff was not necessarily courteous, but they still did their job well. Even with this, the food was so good that nothing could outshine it. Please come here when in venice, you will experience fine cuisine for an incredible price.

This restaurant is absolutely unbelievable. It is an absolute must if you are in Venice. I had the Duck fettuccini pasta dish, and it was remarkable - one of the best pasta dishes I've ever had. The portions are great, and the prices were very good as well. Our table of 4 ordered 6 large dishes for only around 70 euro. The service was amazing and the food came out quickly. The owner was also very kind and seated us quickly. Highly recommend!!

Amazing al dente pasta and unbelievably cheap pizza in this smartly decorated, intimate restaurant. Very prompt service from the well dressed wait staff. Very nice bathrooms.

Amazing food experience in Venice Our group tried a few of their pizza's at their spaghetti/pizza location (6342) and loved it The waiters were helpful and fun to speak with about the different options available We also split a spinach calzone with tomato sauce which was amazing

Great food and atmosphere. It was late at night and most restaurants were closed at that time. We were looking for any restaurant that might be open, so I was happy that we came across A Le Tole. I had the Asian Shrimp Pasta (or maybe it was Thai) and thought it was very good. Also tried the Lamb Chops with mustard sauce which was very different than any other lamb chops I tried before, and thought it was still very good. Price was very reasonable. I recommend this restaurant if you're in the area.

Here's a tip research your dinner around lunch and make a reservation right away. Me and my Girlfriend fell asleep after a long day of walking and sight seeing. When I woke up I asked her which restaurant she wanted to go to she meant this one but we called another, so when we got there obviously they had no name on the list. We told the hostess who I believe is the owner what happened and she told us to come back in about 25 mins and she would be ready for us. We went and checked out San Paolo and relaxed, when we went back she had out table waiting. Right off the bat the service was impeccable. This was honestly one of the best meals we had in the city, I don't even want to sugar coat it, some reviews tell you some places are good and you go and you're always like what the hell were they thinking. So we were starving yep, tummies rumbling, hangry, ready to destroy. And I am telling you this food not only hit the spot but the flavours and care put into it was perfect. First we had a caprasse salad, I could knock the fact they only used grape tomatoes, and that the basil wasn't taken off the branches but then I would be nit picking, the cheese was so soft and fresh it blew my little mind. Next I had the Al la tolle pizza and I am not use to truffle oil, but it was delicious and again the Buffalo cheese was so soft and flavourful, the crust was thin and perfectly cooked, it was complex and yet heavenly. My girlfriend had some kind of black spaghetti with some fish in it, I tried a couple bites and it was equally as good. We finished off with the Chefs dessert and it was the perfect topper to an amazing meal. If you are reading this review then book this place for tonight or tomorrow and try for yourself.

The squid ink pasta is good but not great. For who doesn't like pasta cooked the true Italian style (it would taste like it's not totally cooked thru) then this place offers a more neutral balance. The pasta still tastes raw but less raw than other places. Tiramisu is great here. The ambiance is great as well. But it's Venice, it should be nice anywhere.

Probably the best meal I had in Venice, and a good way to spend our last night in Europe. My family and I wandered in at around 6:50pm without reservations and luckily the waiter still provided us a table. We were able to beat the 7pm dinner rush that soon followed, and had our meals delivered to us quickly. I ordered the fettuccine with duck and the duck ended up being very tender. One portion was definitely way too big for one person and we all ended up with leftovers to take home. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. My dad particularly enjoyed the live music in the restaurant.

Came here because the other restaurant we were looking at was closed, but we are so glad we did. I'm not a huge clams/mussels person, but their pasta with clams and mussels was so fresh and delicious.

A Le Tole was love at first sight. The restaurant really stands out from the typical Italian trattoria. It is modern, trendy and has a very stylish thing going on. Food was fantastic! FOOD: MMMMMMmmmm great variety of pasta, pizza and even salads for the crazy people on a low carb diet in Italy. I had a delicious Tre archi babypizza after years of a pizzafree diet and I have to admit it was worth every bite. However, I do bealive their specialty is pasta which not only tastes like heaven but is also beautifully presented. I recommend trying the Maltagliate con guancia di vitello e verdure croccanti, but really, you can´t make a wrong choice here. SERVICE: This almost cost them a star. Luckily the food was too good and I had to keep my rating at a solid 4. The service was not bad, but compared to other places and how nice Italians generally are, I gotta say there is some room for improvement on this front. Also there was no running water on the toilets, which is a very bummer in a city of so many tourists. However my biggest complaint is the bloody COPERTO, which is basically a per-person cover charge that most restaurants in Venice charge. LOCATION: Although it is very close to the very touristic San Marco area, you can find this amazing place hidden in one of the many narrow streets around the area. The restaurant itself is a constrast to the normal old, narrow, pinturesque streets and lanes. It is almost as if you take a typical restaurant from Amsterdam or Berlin and you place it in one of the most romantic and cozy cities in the world. Worth the visit! Definitely worth the walk/wait! This place was awesome. Me and three of my friends went for our first meal in Venice. We got a calzone, three pizzas, and two pastas, and they blew us away. This pizza might have been some of the best I've ever had. The pasta was also very good and tasted fresh. I would highly recommend this place for anyone in Venice. A Le Tole is very authentic and provides quality food. The service is also great and they allowed us to split our check depending on what each person ordered.

Amazing pizza and fresh pasta! The place is packed with guest as we arrive for our dinner reservation Friday night. After we were given our menus, the table next to us gets their food, and my boyfriend take a quick look at the plate served to our neighbors and decided to have what he's having, the lobster spaghetti. I went for the ravioli dish, because ravioli has never disappointed me in the past. The pasta is cooked to perfection! It actually tastes so good that we want to try the pizza as well. So for dessert, we shared a pizza with mozzarella, smoked ricotta and bacon. The staff might think that pizza is a normal dessert in Norway! We were so full after our meals that there was no room for a more traditional dessert this evening. I will highly recommend this place, try to plan ahead and make dinner reservations (they have online booking on the web site)

Not as good as expected. Squid ink pasta is very bitter and I'm not used to fully cooked past. I like the pasta from Tandem in Roma better.

I've been one of those misinformed Yelpers when traveling abroad and reading reviews on A Le Tole. I admit that I am a noodle connoisseur and I absolutely love noodles. Just reading about A Le Tole's fresh noodles made me salivate all over my cellphone. However, when it came to my experience at the restaurant, I couldn't help but annotate all the things that went wrong: 1. My boyfriend and I came on Sunday evening at 9:00pm to hopefully get a table without reservations. The chef/ owner kindly informed us that they were booked that evening, and that we could come back the next evening. We made reservations to ensure we had a table. Because we were starving, we found Osteria Ai Do Archi, next door, which gave us fantastic service and food. 2. Monday evening comes, and I'm super excited to finally try A Le Tole. We were led into the back of the restaurant where we had our table reserved for us. (Side note: It appears that people who made reservations that night had tables in the back of the restaurant. That means, you could not see any kitchen action at all. In my opinion, the reservation seating was like the worst table in the house. You're sitting next the bathroom and behind a wall that completely obliterates your view from the live performance and from the restaurant.) 3. Service was awful. It took us forever to get menus, then I had to wave down a few waiters to actually order dinner. Meanwhile this is all going on, the restaurant's credit card system wasn't working at all. Servers were running around as if their hair was on fire. Basically, we all had to pay in cash for our meals. 4. The final verdict was obviously my food. The waitress enthusiastically recommended the black spaghetti with seafood. Meanwhile, my boyfriend ordered the fungi pizza. We both got our dinner at different times - which sucked. While he tried his pizza first, he admitted that it was really soggy compared to all the pizzas he's been having in Italy. I tried a bite, and I agreed. Then comes my spaghetti, and the first bite was so uncomfortable. You know when you chew pasta and you know it is still so hard? I just kept on eating because I was so embarrassed that I hyped up this restaurant to my boyfriend, but the food was so bad. I told him to take a bite - he just ended up spitting it out and said "I'm not eating that. I'm going to get a stomach ache because the food isn't even cooked." After he made that comment, I completely stopped eating it, too. 5. Trying to pay for the bill was almost close to impossible. Again, I waved at the waiters like a crazy person to signal and mouth the word, "conto!" One of them finally brought a little box out so we can put our cash in. We did, and we waited... waited... and waited... forever for them to take the box and give us change. Because we waited for so long, we decided to give them the exact change instead and leave. We only had so much time left in Venice that night, and I did not want to spend it waiting for these inept servers to get back to me. 6. On my way out, I felt this sudden need to tell the waiters about my terrible experience. I kindly said something along the lines that my pasta wasn't good at all. The noodles were really hard, and quite inedible. To my shock, one of them defended the noodles saying that it was always prepared that way! I said that it was not normal to eat pasta that hard. He continued to defend these godforsaken noodles, meanwhile I stood there embarrassed, tongue-tied (because I can't speak Italian), and just nodded my head... and walked away. 7. I would have walked away not writing this review but it wouldn't serve any justice to future patrons (future noodle lovers). I do have to admit that my review is very negative due to all the circumstances regarding our experience before, during, and after the restaurant. Nevertheless, I do think people should still give this restaurant a try by AVOIDING eating the black spaghetti and pizza. Also, if you have patience like mother theresa, then this is the restaurant for you.

We came based on Yelp reviews, and we were not disappointed! On a Saturday night, the restaurant was pretty packed and we managed to get in by making a last minute reservation. We sat near the front there was live music, a singer with an electric guitar playing lots of classic smooth rock love ballads...very romantic. We ordered a caprese salad, the cheese was out of this world smooth and fresh with nice basil and small and sweet cherry tomatoes very deep red in colour. We then ordered the al le tole pizza with smoked ricotta and buffalo salami and ham. The crust was super thin, tomato sauce was on the lighter side I think as to not overpower the other complex flavour and it was subtly finished with a truffle oil. Then we had the black ink spaghetti with scallops and white fish. It was very sharp in flavour, strong, bold but the AL denté pasta soaked up all that delicious flavour and rounded it off quite nicely. It was a great meal, with a bottle of house wine, water, salad, two mains and a dessert it was €61. Not too bad!

This was PACKED at lunchtime! The window watching gets you hooked. We happened to find this spot on our way to a pizzeria which was closed and we were lucky enough to get a table immediately when it looked like a full house. Saffron and shrimp with tagliatelle was so flavorful, you can taste the quality olive oil. We also ordered 2 pizzas, prosciutto & marinara, which arrived promptly which were charred underneath, thin, and hot. It's a modern setting with a combination of locals who visit and were seated immediately at their favorite tables. Their dishes came out like clockwork without even being offered a menu. I noticed the locals getting pastas with loads of seafood. Bathroom door in the back is kitchey cool. I would have rated them 5 stars, but the one woman who was there seemed very stressed out. She never cracked a smile and evoked a feeling of being understaffed. It was only two of them covering all the tables which was overwhelming. However, the male server who frequented our table was very friendly and attentive. Quick tips: 1. OK service but prompt 2. Quality on both pasta & pizza 3. House white was only .50 € more than the water and it was delicious. 4. Glassware is phenomenal - Murano water glasses & artisan local wine glasses. 5. This place could be good for groups with a reservation. The waaaaay back has 2 tables for 6 and the entire restaurant is modular with two tops so by design, they maximize space.

I came here based on the reviews I read. It was a nice looking place and the staff was friendly. I had a pizza that was OK and their fresh made pasta with pomodoro that was NOT ok. It was so bland and flavorless and both dishes were lacking the freshness of quality ingredients. I also felt like I was back in the states with the look and feel of the restaurant. I came to Venice to BE in classic Venice, but if you are looking for more of an updated feel then this may be for you.

First, the food: I ordered monkfish wrapped in bacon, a chef's special. It was very, very good, one of the best meals I've ever had in fact. The others in our party ordered a variety of pizza, spaghetti, and gnochi. No one was disappointed, it was all very fresh and tasty. We also ordered the house red. Suffice to say it easily embarrasses any other house wine we've had this trip. Service was attentive and impressively quick. The chef himself was greeting guests and ensuring all was well. Given the speed our order appeared, (and all eight meals came together), he must be a master kitchen organizer! Lastly, it's busy, booking recommended.

We ate at the second restaurant of the owners that has same menu minus pizzas. It is a mere 30 second walk from A Le Tole. The food was outstanding. I ordered the liver and polenta. My wife ordered the pasta with lobster. One of my daughters order the pasta with duck. My other two daughters split a plate of macaroni with meat sauce. We got the chef's choice and black berry cheesecake for dessert. Waiters and waitress provided top notch service. Live music was outstanding. Eating in the little garden put this place over the top. I dropped around the same amount of euros at other waterfront restaurants that didn't give me anywhere the bang for my buck. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!!

Stopped in for a late lunch during a day trip to Venice. Not sure if we were supposed to seat ourselves, we waited by the door for quite some time (even though the staff clearly saw us there). A gentleman came by with a smile and a hello, and seated us with a very friendly manner. We were left to peruse the menu for a good while. When a young man came over to take our drink order (a bottle of water (naturale) and a beer) we were ready to place our meal order as well. We both decided on pizza and they were brought out quickly, hot from the oven. The pizzas here are quite large, and come without being cut into slices. The sauce is thick and seasoned. There was lots of good cheese on top and the crust thin. I like pizza crust a bit more 'well done', but in my limited experience with pizza in Italy, it was perfectly cooked! The inside of this restaurant is very nice, bright and simply decorated. It was not very busy at the time we arrived and plenty of wait staff were on hand. Someone stopped by once to see if we needed anything, and there was usually someone around we could flag down. We ordered a second beer and a different one than the original order was delivered to the table. So note to self, be specific when ordering a second. The rest rooms are to the back, behind a pocket door. Once inside the door, women on the right, men on the left with a shared sink between. This would be a nice place for both a small group or a table for two. They have beer and wine, pasta and pizza and desserts. It's a nice place for a break in the day, to rest your feet, get some refreshments and the prices were in the budget.
