"While it might come as a surprise, Tokyo is known for its Neapolitan pizza. One of the great pizza makers in the city is Hisanori Yamamoto, whose restaurant is a short walk from Nakameguro Station. The tables are squeezed next to each other, but everyone is happy to dig into the pizzas that emerge perfectly blistered from the wood-burning oven. If the weather is good, there's alfresco dining. The menu is unlike most Neapolitan pizzerias, which only offer a few options; here you’ll find about three dozen. Order some wine and start off with antipasti and fritti , and the pizza will have you feeling like you've taken a detour to Naples on your trip to Japan ."

this place is overrated and makes you feel stressed. didn’t have a reservation, came as soon as it opened and waited one hour before getting in. even people who had reservations were entering the restaurant later than their reservation time, the front of the restaurant was a jumbled mess with what looked like 3 different lines. workers seemed very very stressed and under pressure. after finally getting in, workers told us to sit at a certain spot, then moved us, then told us we could put our stuff on top of a seat, then told us we need to remove our stuff from the seat. asked for water but they kept forgetting. after pizzas arrived, mine had this huge burnt mark on it. pizza tasted just like a normal Margherita, nothing special. 2200 yen + you must buy a drink. ended up costing 3200 total. crazy that the whole kitchen is operated by one person. this person was NOT taking his time obviously or putting heart into his work because you just can’t do that with 20,000 orders needing to be taken care of. my friend who was with me told me the person in the kitchen accidentally had the pizza plated upside down, and it got messed up, he flipped it on its normal side than told another worker to send it to the customer. also, he overheard the kitchen worker threaten to fire the waiters since apparently they kept messing up. Anyway, this restaurant feels insanely understaffed and workers do not seem happy or hospitable at all because of it, you can feel their stress. I don’t recommend it, you can find much tastier Margherita pizza, better service, and a better atmosphere and price almost anywhere else. Message to owner: stop being greedy and hire more people

We came in an hour before closing time just when they took last orders, and it felt rushed. No dessert offered, only pizza dishes, no other dishes were available. We were ok with that and enjoyed the pizza we ordered - the dough is authentic although the topping / flavour is a tiny bit off - not 100% Italian but close (probably tailored to the local palate).

Honestly, not recommended. Ordered antipasti and had only one slice of prosciutto and a piece of cheese per person. The rest was tripe, polpetta and vegetables. Wanted to order pizza fritta but it was sold out (not said previously) so ordered the ragu pizza which had some mystery meat that was absolutely not ragu, the dough was fine however. Prices were quite steep for this mediocre quality.

Was so disappointed after high expectations based on my experience of Da Isa at its original location on Yamate Dori. The service was as brisk as ever, but almost silent, with none of the bustle and atmosphere when it was staffed by Italians. The pizzas are a little flacid and expensive compared to other pizzerias offering superior versions. The tiny “rucola salad” consisting of a small bunch of rucola on a bed of lettuce is nothing short of cynical profiteering at over ¥1,900 including tax. Compare that to the delicious, peppery rucola salad with at least twice the amount of rucola that’s included in the price of the ¥1,650 pizza lunch set at the award-winning La Tripletta in Musashi Koyama. Standards have slipped and perhaps unsurprisingly, we were able to walk in and a get a table on a Sunday night without a reservation. Back in the day at the Yamate dori you had to wait in a long snaking queue to get a table.

Google
for the prices you pay (¥2650 per pizza) the pizzas lack toppings, they feel like they’ve just been thrown together - but the dough is good. i think the price is because you can sit outside by the river

Google
Fantastic, authentic pizza worth the trip but comes at a price. There is very little I can add to this quite famous restaurant. It’s all true: the pizza is as good as it gets. The restaurant itself seems to have moved to a better location right along the Meguro river. It’s relatively big but packed at all time. Better to reserve or expect to have to queue for as much as an hour. The terrace seating was very pleasant at 9PM. Once seater we order via a web site on our phone. Very efficient though not very English friendly (we don’t care we can read Japanese, but if you can’t, not great). No pictures on the menu doesn’t help but it’s all safe. Everything here is amazing. Service is fast but utterly impersonal. Expect a budget of about 3000-5000¥ depending on your order but a pizza and glass of wine should cost no more than about 3500¥ and should satisfy most people. Well worth the price but not exactly a bargain as far as it goes. Without a doubt one of the best pizza in the world outside Italy.

Wednesday lunchtime and so rainy wet. Line relatively short, only 10 minutes wait. Aluminum pan of fresh mini tomatoes and baked sweet mushrooms on display. Ordered the 3 cheese pizza along with the fungi. Nice friendly girl took our order and help us to get seated. 5 stars for speaking great English. Chewy crust Cheesy flavor pleasant mouth feel, simple delicate flavors. I'm 5 again and mom just served my favorite. Brain blown to bits. 5 stars Worth it to come here in a cold rainy day.

The pizza was delicious, but the service was very poor. It all started when we decided to celebrate a significant event at this place. I made a reservation in advance and asked them to reserve a decent table if possible, but my request was ignored. They also brought us a dirty plate. When I asked about the honey for pizza that appears in all the photos, we were rudely told that we hadn't ordered it, even though they could have simply explained that it was an add-on option. Overall, I got the impression that the staff at this restaurant doesn't really care about customer satisfaction, because the place is well-known and people will come anyway. The pizza was delicious, but for an average bill of 10,000+, such service is a shame.

Yelp
In Naka- Meguro, on the end of the Hibia-sen train line, near the NEW HumanMade store location. This Pizzeria on the Main Street is a stand out. Fire wood out Front and the open facade to the chefs wood burning oven and pizza making area to the left of all the seating. The place was bustling and although they asked if we had a reservation, they fit us in immediately. Soon there was a queue outside of people sitting in chairs. There are pizzas and fried starters and salads. I think pasta too but you look around at the pizza and it's hard not to order a solo pizza for your self and a glass of red wine ! Had to get the house salad too, interesting details in the restaurant's personality, it had roasted potatoes in there! Was very delicious. I was tired of a week long binge of eating Japanese Breakfasts- but this was my 2nd pizza stop in my 8 days in Japan, and this is definitely a gem in this neighborhood. My whole family got their own pizzas, shared a salad and one glass of red wine was about just around 10k Yen. This was more authentically Italian style pizzeria. We will definitely return next time!

Yelp
Decor: nothing special but you feel like you are in your neighborhood Italian place. Paper cups are a no go and waste to the environment. Atmosphere: every table is full with people enjoying their meal. Food: the glass bottle water is nice to go along with the meal. Margarita pizza was delicious. We ordered three and they were gone in a few minutes. The pizza was your not your typical Italian pizza as the pizza dough was cooked and thin but not too thin that everything falls apart. The dough had a great taste which my kids really enjoyed. The sausage pizza was a waste as it was basically thin sliced hot dogs on top. Not worth the money. Summary: its a goos pizza place to come with friends and enjoy. It takes less than 5 minutes for pizza to arrive. Place is a solid 4 star if you are in the area. Make sure to call ahead for dinner reservation as we got lucky with a table before dinner started at 7pm. There was a long wait when we left at 7pm.

Yelp
We'd eaten sashimi elsewhere as a starter and moved on to Isa hoping to share a pizza. The restaurant employs an odd two plate minimum so we ended up forced to order two pizzas. Not a horrible problem but we could have managed just fine with a single pizza. As far as the pizza goes, it was fine (how often is pizza less than okay though?) but not worth making a special trip for, in my humble opinion.

Yelp
Love love love The young owner opened this place after winning the top prize for some Italian pizza world championships three years in a row and you can understand why. I would stick with the normal margaritas.

Yelp
It doesn't even feel like you are in japan. We could've been in Naples. The red table wine is light and typical. The pizza is divine and authentic. The space is cozy and perfectly warm for the cooler japan season. The line is horrible. Reservations is a must.

Yelp
Solid 3.5 stars. Yummy pizza! They take reservations but it fills up. Not to worry though they have some seats seats for walk ins. The chef apparently won the world title of best pizza several years in a row. Not sure if I fully agree with that statement. There is a pizza shop in Ebisu and Osaka that I think are better. With that said, I still think this pizza is way better than most pizza shops I've found in the states. The crust was more soggy than crispy, but the cheese was good. Tips for ordering: - Order one pizza at a time! You'll have about a 3-5 minute window to consume each pie. Once it cools down, even a little, it's definitely not as good. - Be aware that the wine glasses are fairly small as well.

Yelp
This place is definitely authentically Italian: in the sense that true Italians are good at scamming people. ¥2000 for a pizza is a "rapina a mano armata" (armed robbery). Avoid: it's a matter of principle.

Yelp
What a great little Pizzeria! Great service, what else is new in Tokyo?! The pizza and salad was just terrific. Not too many funky flavors, just great thin crust pizza! The flavor of the crust was about as good as I have ever had, NYC included! If you are in Tokyo and craving pizza, this is a must visit!!

Yelp
This place is fun except for all the rules! We were a table of 7 people, 7pm 90 minute reservation. They put us in a crawl space behind the cash register. Annoying to be right near the register, but nice separation from other crowded table areas. You have to order one entree per person and a lot of things on the menu dont count towards it. I think we may have spent more and ate more had the focus not been on getting the right number of required items. No pasta that night either. All the bureaucracy aside, the pizza is light thin crust and very tasty. Best fresh of course. The tiramisu was delicious but the portions were a joke. Literally 3 bites per person. Mushroom, diablo, 4cheese, margherita, and marinara pizzas were all yummy! I might come here again if im in the area.

Yelp
I remember when it just opened, it was a boom! The guy use to make the most amazing pizzas, and the place was always packed! From day one! But then slowly during the years it changed, and the quality went down pretty much, unfortunately , and it collapsed since the last three years form now. From excellent to ....mmmm ok.

Julie N.

Yelp
You have to get the right pizza here. Order the one with ham, eggplant, and ricotta. Best pizza I've ever had in my life. The crust is very thin and chewy so don't get greedy and add too many toppings or your pizza will be mushy. Note that their lunch menu is more limited than their dinner menu. You can add toppings to any of the six available pizzas but they don't have all toppings available.

Yelp
I don't like this place. Pizza is great but not other foods such as salad, octopus fly... they are very expensive yet portion is so small. Customer service is v bad. Don't recommend

Joy R.

Yelp
It was our first time eating here because we have heard reviews about how the pizzas are excellent. The pizza was good and well-baked in a fireplace, but I wouldn't say it's anything special out of the ordinary. You can get this type of pizza elsewhere in Asia for about half the price---and at this restaurant, the prices of food and drinks were unreasonable. All customers MUST get drinks, and pay a price of 500 yen even for a soft drink with a lot of ice in it. The tiramisu's presentation was poor as it looked like someone had vomited on a plate, and they charged 600 yen for this. We ended up not eating our dessert and left. The service by our waiter was rather arrogant as he looked reluctant to answer questions about the menu. The other waitress's were okay with the service, but nothing special. I don't think we will ever go to this restaurant again nor recommend it to anyone.
