We came to this restaurant as tourists looking for food around the area as we were staying overnight at a nearby hotel.
When we entered the restaurant, we felt instantly unwelcomed by the staff just by the way they looked at us. I approached a man kneading dough at the counter and politely asked if he spoke English (in Italian). He answered "No," with an unfriendly smirk and added, "parli Italiano?" to which I replied no. The man then said something afterwards which my sister (who knows slightly better Italian than me) translated as "We are in Italy." when I looked over to her as I had no idea what was being said to me.
We walked out of the restaurant and did not look back.
I understand that we were in Italy, but we felt that the staff was just rude and obviously did not want us there. Perhaps they should put a sign outside saying "Italian-speakers only."
