I have literally been wanting to go to this place since the day it opened. The reason I haven't gone here before now is because I crave pizza like one day a year. Actually that is no joke. It seemed as though the stars aligned today and I wasn't craving Indian or Southeast Asian (had Indian for lunch) for dinner but had to eat out as I was running around town this evening. My next choice was Soul Food and seeing as though they didn't have any available seating, I skipped across the street to Pizzeria Montana. FINALLLLLLLLY.
The place was packed- which usually is a turn off for me (because I'm claustrophobic; not because the food wouldn't be good of course). But I knew places would open up quick so I ordered anyways and got a seat immediately. I ordered a Pizzeria Marinara. I was actually stunned to see such an item on the menu. I think this is the first time in Europe I've seen cheeseless pizza. I have found that most of Europe's pizza is kind of crappy (obviously not once you hit the Mediterranean) and the only good pizza to be found in cities is at Turkish kebab places or Italian restaurants. Try ordering a cheeseless pizza in an Italian place and watch how fast you get scoffed at. You will be murdered with someone's eyes for the rest of the night. Pizzeria Montana actually offered a cheeseless pizza on their MENU. I have lactose issues, which I often ignore, so this is a massive deal for me.
The pizza came out with tomato sauce, a few bits of basil, and a generous helping of oregano. It was delicious. Not the best pizza I've had in my life of course, but great for Frankfurt and I didn't have to eat in an Italian restaurant with 1970s cutlery and overly starched white napkins for once. The decor in Pizzeria Montana was kind of hipsterish but not in a way that would turn people off. It simply caters to my generation.
They served Rothaus Pils for 2,90. My pizza was 5,90. That was a pretty dang cheap meal. And a good one at that.
If 4,5 stars was a thing on here, that is what I would give this place. But it is not, so I will deservingly give them a 5. The customer service was superb and people actually really looked like they enjoyed their jobs and were happy to interact with hungry customers.
