I'm new to Budapest. I was waiting down the street at a highly recommended sit-down restaurant that had a huge line. I decided to look up other award-winning places and came across this gem. As soon as I read about it, my palate was calling for pizza.
I showed up and received some excellent recommendations from the kind staff and owner. They suggested I get a slice of the Marinara and a slice of the Bufalo Mozzarella, but hinted that 2 may not be enough! Surely, they were right. I ended up eating 3 slices and could have gotten more.
The pizza dough was clearly homemade and fresh. It had a nice rise to it, complemented bit a slight crunch. Perfection. But the real component that stole my heart was the SAUCE. The sauce is flavorful, light, rich, robust all at the same time - I should have asked for more on the side! The garlic, parsley, and green glaze on top of the Marinara slice was TO DIE FOR.
I have eaten pizza in Rome and New York City, but this Marinara slice of pizza I ate in Budapest may have been the most memorable slice of pizza in my life. 5 stars. Will be back.
