8 Best Places to Visit in the French Riviera

"Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat earned its nickname — the 'Peninsula of Billionaires' — thanks to the extravagant mansions and villas crowning what claims to be the most expensive village in the world. While estates like Villa & Jardins Ephrussi de Rothschild are something to ogle at, the nature here is the true attraction. Nearly six miles of footpaths skirt the peninsula’s rugged coastline, leading to hidden coves ideal for cliff jumping and tucked-away beaches like Plage Paloma, which, despite counting celebrity visits by the likes of Sean Connery and Elton John, is one of the most laid-back beach clubs on the Riviera." - Lane Nieset Lane Nieset Lane Nieset is a travel writer from Miami who has lived in France for the past decade. Gorgeous beach, very beautiful clear water however please note there are A LOT of jelly fish in the water and close to the shore. I would DO NOT recommend swimming in the water as I was stung by a jelly fish whilst close to the shore. Recommend going early to avoid the overcrowding as it is a small beach.

Best beach in the French Riviera in my opinion! Stunning views of nature and the yachts anchored. Clear and cool water, reasonable shade options depending on the time of day.

Definitely one of the most picturesque beaches in Nice and much better than the other two nearby but it’s also busier. It’s worth the visit. Half of beach gets shade after 1 so keep that in mind especially if you’re chasing the sun.

There was a sign saying the beach was closed due to some construction on the cliff wall (workers were there from 11am I think). It doesn’t look that safe to walk down the stairs to the beach but a quite a few people walked down anyway. I arrived at the beach around 8 am but the sun wasn’t high enough yet to hit the beach - best time was after 10am. But very early was pretty empty and most people arrived closer to 12pm. I was expecting it to be more packed as I heard it would be on tiktok but it was pretty chilled. It is a beautiful beach! And if you walk over to the end of the ‘sand’ you will get to a small jetty. I stayed there by myself for a couple of hours, away from people and it was amazing. There is a shower to wash off. I walked here from beaulieu-sur-mer, pretty easy walk mostly shaded early in the morning and it took roughly 50min.

Nice beach, clean, pet friendly! Totally better and cleaner than CentralNice beach. Less visitors, difficult to park the car!

Smallish beach but more space in summer 2025 due to removal of beach club. Lovely clear water. Some shade from sun and great walk round the headland from right hand end of beach. Doing walk is a must and swim back if you can with snorkel. Shower at far left of beach. Beach shoes ideally.

A very beautiful beach not far from Nice. The pebbles are smaller than on the Promenade des Anglais, but that doesn’t really make it any easier on the feet.. We went on a weekday and the weather was slightly cloudy, so there were hardly any people.

Was under construction when visited, but not too loud. Once again a rocky beach but quite small rocks, so okay. Gorgeous water with small waves, not as drastic a drop of to deep water as other beaches, so first meter okay for children

Yelp
We originally planned to take a day trip to St Tropez, but kept hearing raving reviews about Paloma from locals. We dropped our original plan and decided to go with Paloma. We were not disappointed! We reserved three chairs the day before and were immediately seated when we arrived. Staff were extremely kind and helpful. They were very attentive to our needs. There is a bathroom, various changing rooms, and towels for purchase. We ordered food for lunch and drinks throughout the day. The food was great, just a bit pricey. Overall, we are happy with our choice to stay closer to Nice and would definitely recommend Paloma!

Yelp
Great beach club. After going to 2 duds, this was the experience I was looking for. (Pass on passable and javaneise, if you are considering them) wish we did 3 days here. It's that great. Food is outrageous, as expected. The lounges are awesome and really good experience overall. Really rocky beach like all euro beaches, so bring water shoes... otherwise, enjoy the view and have some wine or beer. Bathroom and changing rooms available near restaurant area.

Yelp
Plage Paloma restaurent: Food is pretty good and the risotto is filling but great!! Desserts are okay. The view is amazing as it overlooks the beach. Service is nice/ kid- friendly.
