"This lovely botanical garden, which translates to “Plants and Flowers,” covers some 111 acres between St. Pauli and the Alster River, right in the middle of the city. Built atop medieval fortifications that once housed a zoo, the delightfully green area features everything from flower beds and herb gardens to vast lawns, serene ponds, and plenty of seating areas. Visitors can also look forward to special highlights like a tropical greenhouse (opened for the 1963 International Garden Festival), the largest Japanese garden in Europe (complete with a pavilion that hosts tea ceremonies and workshops on calligraphy and taiko drumming), and themed gardens (including a rose garden with over 3,000 varieties and a pharmacist’s garden with medicinal herbs and plants). There’s also a playground for children to explore in summer, a custom-built rink for ice skating in winter, and a lively calendar of events, including puppet theater, an annual children’s festival, and regular light shows in the water fountains."

The so many seats and resting grounds in and around the park make it the most amazing experience to chill during summer or even take some nice and beautiful pictures. Google
Beautiful park, huge and full nice views for nature lovers. Dog friendly as long as you keep your dog on a leash. We are visiting this park on December so I think it would be really nice to visit it on spring or summer!

It is definitely a huge garden surrounded by nature. If you are in Hamburg, it is a must-see place. If you have time and love nature, you can even spare a day. very good. wonderful.

Google
ABSOLUTELY beautiful botanical garden. It's easy to reach via public transportation and makes for a glorious walk. On a sunny day, you'll find Hamburgers out on their bikes, strolling, picnicking, reading and just enjoying the company of their friends throughout the grounds. The range of plants and trees is impressive (and if you have an Apple phone it's cool to use Visual Look Up to identify what plants you're admiring or curious about).

Google
Beautiful city park where you can take a nice walk or relax on benches or in grassy areas. There is also a rose garden, an herb garden and regular water fountain displays. By the lake you will find a self-serve coffee stand where you can get a cup of coffee and even a piece of cake and enjoy them while seated under an umbrella by the lake.

Google
Located in central Hamburg city. Good location to escape from the hustle and bustle of the hectic city life and chill here. Lots of people come here to picnic, workout and run. Place is relatively well maintained and the succulent garden was temporary closed when I was there. Location is walkable from buses and Bahn. Best experience is of course walk after a heavy dinner 😀

Yelp
Beautiful, huge, gorgeous, shiny, colourful, well maintained, breathtaking, amazing park in the middle of an amazingly beautiful city! If you're in Hamburg in the spring or summer, this is a must see! Even in winter and autumn it's quite pretty, but obviously the blooming seasons are better. There's a huge rose garden with smells amazing when in full bloom, plenty of fountains, trickling waterways and tiny bridges throughout the park. It's such a delight! There are benches throughout and in certain areas you can absolutely bring a picknick blanket and set yourself up for a lovely afternoon. Trust me, as a hay fever sufferer, this park is well worth the extra dose of antihistamines!

Yelp
Beautiful park in Hamburg away from the city. However it's incredibly crowded, but peaceful enough. Also super big place so if you want to see it all you need a couple hours.

Yelp
Came here on a weekday evening for a stroll. Quite peaceful, really pretty, liked the lake. Awesome piece of nature in the middle of the city, would recommend coming!

Yelp
Every city vacation needs to be balanced with a trip to the park. Mother Nature makes her beautiful presence known at Planten Un Blomen. One of Hamburg's biggest park, it begs to be explored: several fountains on sprawling grass areas -- why yes, please lay your blanket all around -- there's an ice cream store for the kids, lots of flowering plants and magnificent trees. Find your own sweet spot and sit on an adirondack chair or a park bench: read a book, talk to a friend, laugh with your kid or just people watch. Relax. Breathe. Live.

Yelp
Planten un Blomen is composed of several gardens which are all worth it. Going from a nice lake to a Japanese garden and a roses garden, you will also be able to admire a lot of different vegetal species in the free greenhouses. These gardens provide you various seating all along your promenade but you can also enjoy lying in the big green areas.

Yelp

Yelp
This park is absolutely mind blowing. Now that I've discovered it, I want to see it everyday before we go back home. I'm craving it and have officially become a Planten in Blomen addict. Everywhere you look, you're blown away with incredible flowers, trees, and water (a perfect representation of Hamburg itself). There are ducks that are clearly used to being fed and will come and be your friend if you're willing to live up to expectations. There are many many benches and individual seats, which is great for anyone with mobility issues, kids, tired feet or the desire to read a book in the midst of a park that will blow up your mind with beauty. The thing is so huge, I can't wait to see what else is there. There's also an incredibly imaginative playground that I highly recommend you taking your children to, whether they're super young or just young at heart.

Yelp
The Planten un Blomen ("Pflanzen und Blumen", or "Plants and Flowers" in low-german) is a large park smack in the middle of Hamburg. The park itself is very large and diverse, and is delightful for joggers, photographers, tourists and just people strolling by. Different areas of the park are designed to capture a different type of scenery, so you'll see traditional park offerings as well as japanese-style gardens and gazebos and picturesque, artistic flower patterns. Planten un Blomen is a wonderful place to breathe some different air and experience a different kind of atmosphere. Despite being right in the heart of the busiest commercial area in Hamburg, the park seems to have an invisible bubble around it, unaffected by the commotion of the city. There's a lot to see around Planten un Blomen, so make sure you're wearing your walking shoes. If you happen to be in the area on a Summer's eve, walk over to the park's lake where a waterworks show takes place every Summer night at 21:00. Here's a video I captured with my cellphone of the waterworks show. Video link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wB8SY9y6lq8

Yelp
I was quite pleased to find a place like this existing in Hamburg. Coming from a city known for its public parks and lots of green, the chance to sit here for an afternoon was more than welcome. The layout can be a bit cumbersome, as the paths seems to go on forever, intertwining and crossing. The maps on the large plaques are quite useless, so just don't try to fight it and walk your way through. Find a spot on the grass, crack your beer and enjoy whatever scenery you end up at. (Hint: I don't recommend the area with the water cannons as it's quite loud and the WHOOOOOSCCCCH can be a buzzkill.)

Yelp
Beautiful park in the heart of Hamburg. My advice: go there in summer, sometime between 6 and 8 p.m.! It's light enough to see the gorgeous flowers just walk around and enjoy it! But remember: 10p.m. the Wasserlichtspiele (artistical light/water/music show) begin be in time to save yourselves a bench near the park's lake. ;)

Yelp
Very nice park, with different themes originating of different parts of the world. There are also enough kiosks which you can get drinks or ice cream. Also there is one small fountain which is not superb but still interesting to sit and watch it for some times. If you are lucky, then you might also see a rainbow through the fountain.

Yelp
Planten un Blomen is the place to be for nature lover, photo enthusiasts or for people who just wanted to have a break from the busy city. The park itself is free, it is clean, very refreshing and have plenty of benches. But of course, you are very welcome to bring your own picnic blanket. From spring to summer, they have a water show at night time. And during the rose seasons, the rosengarten (rose garden) is a spectacular sight that you don't wanna miss.

Yelp
Simply breathtaking, definitely one of the must see places in Hamburg. Best if you visit in the summer when there is a fountain light-show which is amazing. We go biking from time to time there or to read a book on the sun, taking chillaxing to the next level :)

Yelp
The planten un blomen is the Central Park of Hamburg. Magical, enchanting, and a beautiful scenery. This park is never abandoned, at any time of the day youll find people jog, walk their dogs, relax or just enjoy the parks nature. Try to avoid the weekends though..as it will be too crowded. All the way through the park you can find chairs, perfect in summer, to sit down and relax and/or enjoy the surrounding. The park features various concerts during summer, as well as the famous fountainshow, illuminated with rainbow-colours and classical music. Truly magical. The childerns playground near the Cafe Seeterrassen makes you want to be 10years old again, only because you know that this playground will the most fun ever! The amount of enthousiastic kids screaming, laughing and chatting might resemble your own childhood. Just a stone away from my condo, the planten un blomen is the perfect opportunity to escape the hectic vibe of the city. Ok, Hamburg is not that hectic, but you can always use some peace and quiet every now and then. The japanese gardens, beautiful flowers and numerous cosy nooks makes it a veritable sanctuary...

Yelp
Amazingly beautiful park in the middle of the city. It is perfect , because you don't need to drive outside city to relax. My favorite places are japanische garden and place near entry, where are some seats placed.Perfect for spending a summer day with a book.

Yelp
Planten und Blomen is generally great. It has: - an absolutely amazing play area for kids - loads of fish ponds - a boating lake - lots of concrete that people in the '70s must have thought looked futuristic - a wide range of plants & trees It's located between Sternshanze station and Dammtor, with the Hamburg Conference centre at one end and the Exhibition halls at the other. It's a lovely oasis in the centre of Hamburg

Yelp
Without a doubt one of the main places to visit in Hamburg, especially in the Summer. It is a huge place reaching between 3 subway stations. There is something for everyone there. There is a kid's playground there is a chinese garden, and there is a small place where you can play chess with big figures (real size see photos). You can go there and virtually get lost. There is so much to see than you must plan at least 2-3 h to visit it. As the photos are worth more than 1000 words, please take a look at what to expect (I have uploaded some).

Yelp
Very Nice Place, a place to relax and enjoy a bit of nature. Take a walk through Planten and Blomen esp. to the Japanes Garden Area, I love that Place. Kids got a huge playground, where they can run and jump around. Parking recommdation: Take the "marseiller street" or the "st. peterburger street", u will always find a "non fee" parking.

Yelp
Planten un Blomen (eng. Plants and flowers) is a beautiful park in the center of Hamburg. There is a lot to explore and see, my favorite place so far is the conservatory which can be visited for free. Furthermore there is a japanese garden, a rose garden, playgrounds, an ice ring in the winter and lots more.

Yelp
Uh, wow. Simply put, this was the centerpiece of my visit to Hamburg. It's a huge, beautiful park, very well-designed. It somehow evoked both Scandanavian and Japanese design. Just when I thought I had seen everything in the park, I'd discover a new area. I could have spent all day there. Definitely worth visiting.

Yelp
We went during the evening for the water show which was nice as it was done to music. Quite the turnout from the locals and tourists alike and the best seating is up on one of the hills so you can look down on the scene without someone standing in your way. They don't have much parking so plan on walking a little. We found a spot up on Sankt Petersburg Strasse which allowed us to walk in a side gate and be right at the show which is at the top of the garden area. We went back the next morning and it is a delightful property with one of the best rose gardens we have seen. We have been to Butchart Gardens and this section is on par with them. They have all these other flowers mixed in with the roses for a beautiful combination which is amazing. If you like super manicured gardens this may not be for you but we like the free flowing garden with a wandering feel and this was it. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
A great place to spend a warm afternoon or a great way of getting from one part of Hamburg to another. they also have classical music evenings in summer.

Yelp
Very refreshing, especially in the warmer days of the year. The fountain show has already been mentioned, and as the program changes every week, you can get here often without beeing bored by monotony. Then one should sit by the lake, drink some wine, have some Sushi from the Gänsemarkt nearby or live it the hanseatic style by drinking a chilled beer, maybe accompanied by some chilled girl =) That's the way it should be!
