Bean to bar in the heart of Paris 🍫❤️
Discovering PLAQ remains a highlight of my trip. The hot chocolate is the star here. Maya Red Mountain with notes of fruit and a hint of acidity. Get the water based version for full flavour impact. Amazing!
We even got a mini tour of the place which was fantastic.
My only point of criticism is that there is no toilet (in a cafe that serves drinks) and the other girl was pretty rude.

I definitely need to come back and spend more time here, but my time in Paris was limited. The moment we walked in, we were completely drawn in by the amazing smell of chocolate—absolutely irresistible! We bought a cookie and a chocolate bar, but since they only start serving drinks after 11:00, I didn’t get to try their coffee or chocolate drinks. I’ll definitely be returning for that next time!

There’s a difference between people who like chocolate and people who LOVE chocolate. The latter are connoisseurs. And if you’re a connoisseur, forget the Eiffel Towel while you’re in Paris, you need to hit up Plaq
The team here are OBSESSED with micro managing every bit of the process from picking/sampling/testing the rarest cocoa beans in the market, to transforming the manufacturing process all the way in Paris
Their slogan roughly translates to something to the effect to ‘hand crafted from bean to bar’.. and the difference in quality, taste and aesthetic is abundantly clear
WOW. Literally.. WOW. Got a hot chocolate to go along my treats.. and was blown away. You can literally taste the difference. Not overpowering sweet either.. subtle, delicate, bold.. almost earthy depending on what chocolate you’re having. So good!!!

Fantastic chocolate shop, not the typical gourmet shop, they do have pralines, but much better than the typical ones! They offer plaques of various flavours, amazing cookies and other desserts, coated nuts, and specialty coffee drinks. Try the hot chocolate with just water, then try with milk, how different they taste! Friendly staff too. Bought a chocolate advent calendar, great way to sample all they offer! Definitely with a visit and there are quality shops on this street; coffee, cheese, market, butcher, baker (no candlestick maker 😅)

If I could insert the aroma of fresh roasted cacao in this review, I would.
Before you even open the door to enter, you get this perfect scent of cacao.
The kind young lady thay greeted us told us all that they do on house, gave me a sample of dark chocolate.
I had the mocha, my husband had the chocolat chaud and my sone had the cappuccino.
The only thing I wish is that I had bought more chocolate bars!!

This shop is a must if you’re in Paris. Ask for Marie to serve you if she is working that day! She is an absolute gem, so passionate about chocolate and she’ll leave you wanting to be a chocolatier yourself. She taught us so much about each product, we left wanting to buy the whole shop (but settled for half of their stock instead). I now recommend to all my friends to swing by their shop if they travel to Paris

Not to miss this wonderful chocolate boutique with an option of hot chocolate made with water, not dairy, yet one would never guess. I love their new boutique on Rue du Cherche Midi, just one block from La Grande Epicerie.
Reasonable prices, too.

Every time in Paris I love going to PLAQ, but today’s visit has been a little disappointing.
I had nice memories from the summer of 2021 when we had a wonderful chocolate ice cream there (I’m adding a photo for comparison). So, today I wanted to have just one scoop of ice cream again since the weather was nice and warm.
I asked the shop assistant to give me one scoop, but she responded that they only do two scoops (why?). Strange, but I said ok, I’ll take two scoops (for 7.5 euros!).
Sadly, what I discovered in my little pot had nothing to do with ice cream. It was just quite rich chocolate cream. I had a couple of spoons and returned to the shop to ask for a take away cup. I asked the girl who sold me the ice cream if it was well the ice cream that she gave me and she responded affirmatively. Well, I felt like it was “c’est n’est pas une pipe” experience when you know that something is clearly not what you are told it is.
Obviously 4 hours later my “ice cream” pot i
still has the same shape and form as when I bought it.(see the second photo) Do we agree the real ice cream would have melted? (So, perhaps it’s worth renaming the ice cream into chocolate cream not to mislead the customers and since it is soo rich, honestly one scoop is more than enough).
