Stated this wonderful design first hotel. Rooms are very comfortable with wonderful shampoos and soaps. Modern decor welcomes you as you enter the room. The staff is very welcoming and quite helpful. There is also an elevator or stairs to use as well. The breakfast is just incredible with a variety of yogurts, Cereal, eggs, fruit, cheese, bread, juices, meat, coffee, tea, or cappuccino. The dining room setting is cheery and bright, And the design reminds me of many Italian elements. Great spot for a couple couples families or even solo travelers like me.

Well located, close to the tram station.|Polite staff. Elevator and restaurant present.|Coffee machine available.|No airconditioning, no kettle, poor housekeeping. Couldnt open the window as too many insects and bees.|Washbasin in the room. Small room size.

Hotel was nice, but BEWARE of the "breakfast". It's not free, and there is no overt mention of its cost upon check in, in fact the opposite, we were informed "breakfast is served from 7-10". We walked down to what looked like, and was, a mediocre buffet (honestly lower end of mediocre). There was no reception area, no signs, just a... "buffet". The random server walking around asked our room number, and that was it.... You'd never assume it had an added cost, as it was very average... but upon checkout were informed it was 21CHF EACH!! LOL. My god. Do better.

The building is charming. With a very nicely decorated interior. It is also well located. In a nice, quiet, cozy neighborhood, but at a walking distance from the popular, largfe area of Old Town Zurich, with all its landmarks, stores, restaurants, etc.||There is a bakery, and a mini-mart, in the immediate vicinity (3-minute walk). They were open very early, even though it was the end-of-year season, and pretty much everything was closed, everywhere, in this city…||The rooms are... let's say… minimalistic. But nice, clean, quiet. There was no thermostat control in the room itself, but it was well heated, the air was clean, the insulation was good, the temperature was quite warm and comfortable (end of December).||The price a bit too high, all things considered. But things are often like that, in Zurich.||The breakfast is exceptional. And it is offered in a huge, impressive room. The young lady who was there, Yanna, was an angel. It was very early in the morning, and she had prepared the buffet impeccably, seemingly all by herself (it was December 30, and there weren't too many people working, in this city, during that period of time…) And although there was a coffee machine, she offered to prepare and serve the first - the most crucial! - cup of coffee of the early morning. It was just perfect.

I can't imagine there’s no one mentioned that there is NO AC during the summer. Even the worst hotel I have ever lived has an AC. This hotel only provides a fan. I completely can’t fall asleep in the night and I have an early trip in the next morning. Awful experience.

Our stay in Zürich got a rough start when we arrived to this same hotel. Because our flight had got canceled, we couldn't arrive the same day that we were supposed to. I had sent messages with the hotel and everything should have been fine. When we arrived and tried to check in we heard that our booking was canceled. The staff at the hotel was super nice and apologized for the misunderstanding and helped us to figure out where to stay because at first they said that they are fully booked. A little bit later someone checked out at the hotel and we got his room right away, it just needed to be cleaned. The situation sounded really stressful for us but also for them at first but they handled it really well. They also took all of the allergies very seriously which was very nicely done. I would definitely stay here again if I visit Zürich some other time!

The Plattenhof Hotel was very clean, the staff extremely friendly, and good breakfast. I must say it was very quiet, if that is what one is looking for. It's a little bit of a walk to the center, but very pleasant. We met local friends there, and it was a short walk to an amazing view of the entire city of Zurich. We walked down to Lake Zurich, past the Fraumunster Church, and you can spot the largest clock face in Europe on top of St. Peter's Church. Don't miss the "blue angel" in the bahnhof! Much to see but we only had a day, and it was Sunday. And then, back to our quiet accomodations in the Plattenhof!

Perfect location, just 4 tram stops from main railway station. Still very quiet neighbourhood for a good night sleep. I was also able to find a single room super last minute(big thanks to the guy who worked at reception that evening). They have a cute bar/cafe throughout the day for soft drinks/coffee/beer, etc. They also happily store your luggage the next day or arrival day to leave it safe. Friendly staff and overall 9/10 experience.

Yelp
A chic and modern boutique hotel that feels like your very own beautiful loft. SERVICE Peter, the manager of the hotel, greeted us and I believe he was on his day off but still was busy making sure everyone in his hotel were extremely satisfied. He was tremendous and really went the extra mile to make sure we had everything we needed. He is very informative and very knowledgeable and best of all he is honest. Before he took off, he even took time to check if we needed anything and wished us well. I like his hands-on approach and determination to make sure every detail is to your liking. The herbal iced tea they provided us during check-in was delicious and much needed as we were parched from lugging our luggage around the train station. It is these little nuances and attention to detail that really makes this hotel stand out. At the end of your stay, they offer a train ticket that takes you to Zurich Airport for I believe 6 Swiss Francs. This makes the whole process that much easier as you already will have your pass ready so you can simply board the train to the airport and be off. No fuss, no hassle and that's what you can come to expect from the wonderful people working at this hotel. They really want you to feel at home in Zurich and then make sure when you're ready to leave that you are at ease the whole time. ROOM Whereas rooms we stayed in at Grindelwald and Geneva leaned more towards an old-school vibe, here, at Hotel Plattenhof, you get a soothing modern room with complete comfort. In fact, it caters to both the younger crowds but at the same time our parents loved the sleek design of the rooms. Elegant wooden floors meet stylish furniture. Something for everyone. I also liked how aesthetics combined with Swiss engineering in this room. The restroom area is separated by a partition that features an eye-catching and appealing modern turquoise or dark red honeycomb design and the sink and shower are new-age too. In the room you'll find an Xbox 360 where you can play DVDs of which they offer a complete library near the lobby. The room itself is immaculately clean and comfortable. Our rooms were located on the top floor which included its own separate door from the communal hallway. This added for extra privacy and allows the two rooms to be openly accessible without intrusion from any other hotel guests. Being on the top floor lets you enjoy the quaint city view but also the activity of a university town. From our balcony we were able to see camels being walked across the street, very unique and cool! Wi-fi worked like a charm as did the electronic adapters they provided us. In the room they also provide Swiss chocolate and complimentary water in a litre size glass bottle. AMENITIES/GROUNDS There is a very cute cafe and restaurant on the premises. The cafe is especially nice with its own garden terrace so on a sunny day in Zurich it is the place to enjoy a meal or a drink outside. At night, the restaurant is a hip and cozy spot to grab drinks and socialize. On a colder night, once you open the door to the hotel lobby you'll be greeted with the toasty warmth of their consistently monitored temperature. It is an unbelievably soothing feeling especially because it can get quite cold walking around the city at night. Also very neat is their elevator. You'll want to take a picture of the technologically advanced control panel with buttons on the tablet that look straight out of a science fiction spaceship. LOCATION Located in college town right by the University of Zurich so we felt very safe at all times. The location is perfect if you want to explore museums and theaters nearby and also the university hospital is steps away, just in case. It is also near the public transit station which in around 30 minutes you can get to Zurich Airport by taking the no. 10 streetcar. Very convenient overall and I believe it is one short ride to the train station where we were able to meet our tour guides up to Mt. Titlis. We also were able to walk into old town Zurich very quickly and from there we were able to visit Sprungli, take a riverboat tour, and check out the exotic luxury cars in town. We had a fantastic stay here at Hotel Plattenhof and would certainly come back next time we're in Zurich.

Yelp
Great team and very friendly and hospitality oriented staff which is quite exceptional these days! Delicious and exhaustive breakfast buffet. I like the contemporary design of the rooms and the beds are very comfortable. The Plattenhof is perfect for a city visit . We are regular guests and enjoy our stay every time since many years! Keep up the excellent work!

Yelp
Design Hotel Plattenhof was the perfect stay to the last end of our trip in Zurich! After so many flights and train through different cities, Hotel Plattenhof made us feel like home with their warm customer service and modern and chic rooms. We were greeted with such great hospitality from Peter the manager and were offered refreshing drinks to start off! After a quick check-in, we were shown to the two rooms which were right next to another and even had an additional lock outside the two rooms. It is the perfect suite to share when traveling as families. The Hotel: The hotel offers 37 quiet rooms and has an Italian restaurant called Sento by the lobby. Their garden terrace is really cute, perfect place to just sit out and lounge! The rooms: The rooms were beautiful with so much natural lighting! The design of the room is very simple but very modern and chic that features a cool design. The design of the room was created with so much efficiency for extra space. They were kind enough to add an extra bed in one of the rooms to accommodate the five of us. The room has a TV and even a wii to play movies! The beds were comfortable and we had great views out to the streets of Zurich. The bathrooms were very clean that had sliding doors and all the amenities needed for toiletries. Location: Location of hotel was very convenient, it was walking distance to the train station and about a 10 minute train ride from the main train station. You can also easily take a direct train ride to the airport (they even sell tickets conveniently at the front desk!) We were able to walk into the old town very easily as it is in a college town so we felt very safe at all times. Service: Peter and his staff were so accommodating and welcoming. Service will always be a top priority when staying at hotels no matter how nice the rooms are because it is the experience that you leave with you will remember the most. Overall, a wonderful and comfortable experience and can't wait to come back the next time I am in town!
