We stopped by for a late lunch (February 2025). The food was excellent. They had multiple local (Swabian) food options. The portion sizes were large and the quality was excellent. It was reasonably priced. We spent €53.50 on two mains and a bottle of local wine. Highly recommend the "Maultaschen" which came with caramelised onions, gravy, potato salad and salad.

Traditional restaurant in the City center. Good beers, local food.

A very nice place with delicious food and generous portions – definitely worth a try. It's usually quite busy, which is understandable given the quality. The service is generally of a high standard. However, we did experience an issue — our order got lost in the kitchen, and we ended up waiting for over an hour. To be fair, the waiter handled the situation very professionally and offered us a discount.

Great German food with great service! We came for dinner but the kitchen was already closed (10pm) so we came back the next day for lunch. They do serve a limited lunch menu but thankfully it had everything we wanted to order! The food was delicious. My fiancé ordered the schnitzel with spaetzle and I would order that too if we came back once more.

Nice place for food and a drink, shaded in afternoon and kitchen open for extended hours. Handy if looking for a late lunch or early dinner. Local dishes available

Platzhirsch offers a refined and cozy setting that effortlessly blends traditional charm with modern elegance. The warm atmosphere sets the stage for a regional culinary experience — and on that front, the kitchen delivers with confidence. The classic Maultaschen was executed with care, the filling flavorful and the texture just right. A touch more salt would have brought out the nuances better, but the absence of salt on the tables left no room for adjustment. Portion size could also be more generous, especially considering the price point — what’s there pleases, but leaves one wishing for a few more bites. The alcohol selection is both enjoyable and potent, delivering on taste but leaning slightly toward the stronger end — not a flaw, but something to keep in mind for lighter drinkers. What truly elevates the experience is the attentive and gracious service. The staff went above and beyond, combining efficiency with genuine hospitality — a rare and welcome quality in today’s dining landscape. Platzhirsch stands as a strong recommendation for those seeking traditional Swabian fare in a polished environment. With small refinements in portioning and table details, it could easily rise to be a standout in Stuttgart’s culinary map.

Yelp
Great food. Really good location close to the center of town. Highly recommend the spatzle. Appetizer, two entrees, and several beers for €40. Very accommodating to English speakers.

Yelp
Hey Yelpers! We found this place in Stuttgart-Mitte near the Rathaus U-Bahn stop. It was a short 10 min. walk to GeissStrasse. A very lively, trendy area with many choices for GastroPubs, bars and lounges. We found a table near the fountain in the square and enjoyed a nice meal and drinks outside. Platzhirsch serves Lowenbrau on tap in great old world steins. The pours were generous and our beers and a cognac made people watching fun! Bavarian Meatloaf i.e., Fleishkuechle is under 7 euros for 2 patties, 'tater salad and a nice salad. my guest had a decent chezzburger with fries. Most entrees were under 10 and biers under 4 euros. Maybe I was too hungry but everything was great and prices super fair for a downtown location. Communal tables turned over quickly so you should have no problem finding space for small groups and, is the German custom, people will move and share the table space to accommodate. Service was efficient, a bit brisk but responded to every request. Bathrooms were painted black and graffiti covered, clean enough to get your business done but up one level-not handicap friendly. Afterwards you'll find plenty to see and do and if so inclinced, a small Red-Light district is about 4 blocks away if you want your laundry done.
