I Grew Up Along Bangkok's Canals — Here's How Its Rich History Connects to the Forward-thinking City

"Next was the Artist House, a bohemian café and gallery. Standing inside, looking at its timber stilts and shutters, displays of traditional khon masks, and shaved ice in flavors named “red” and “green,” I felt like I’d entered a scene calibrated for authenticity." - Mai Nardone

Nice to have a break from the chaotic atmosphere outside. The flow of exhibit was good, the air and energy were clean and, you know what, I love the products to shop here. Glad that local artists have space to show their work to street people, properly. You guys are doing right!

Super friendly and welcoming staff! I don’t speak Thai, but she patiently explained everything in English. Really nice spot to enjoy contemporary art while walking along Song Wat Street with its cool wall murals and rustic architecture.

Love the art space here. It’s not very big, but the curation is thoughtful and the overall atmosphere feels welcoming and accessible. It doesn’t feel intimidating like some galleries can be. Instead, it feels open to everyone—no matter your age, background, or whether you’re an art enthusiast or just someone passing by. Even if you didn’t plan to visit a gallery, the way it’s set up and how it invites people in makes you want to step inside and take a look. The layout is easy to follow, and you can take your time enjoying each piece without feeling rushed. It’s the kind of space that makes art feel closer to everyday life.

Nice little gallery located in Song Wat area. They exhibit a certain theme or pieces from a specific artist in different periods. Only take 15 minutes to look inside the whole exhibition but it was still a good time tho. Great to discover and support local small artists. They have QR code that you can scan to get more information. You can also shops souvenir here. If you are in Song Wat, please spare minutes to be here as it is free afterall!

Cool art gallery located in songwat road. The space is large and nice. They do rotational art. It was quite a fun experience. We were lucky to be there when the owner was around so he also told us the stories and histories of Songwat road as well.

Play Arthouse was one of our first pitstops, in our exploration of Song Wat road. It's a free art gallery, who change their exhibits every now and then. It's a peaceful corner of the street, and definitely very conducive in appreciating the art works on display. Thoroughly enjoyed myself regardless of them being along Song Wat road. Got ourselves a copy of the Song Wat guidebook while we were here as well.

Pretty exterior, had to check whats inside. There was an art exhibit, a little corner with souvenirs to purchase, and an information desk. Worth a quick visit.

A really nice little art gallery close to Chinatown. Free admission. They do short periods of different exhibitions.
