We stopped in for dinner at this place on a Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. It was the first time some of my friends had been there. There was a patio available outside, but it wasn’t too busy, so we decided to sit inside. It was moderately busy, but a bit loud. I wouldn’t recommend it for a quiet evening out. Our server was nice, but the service was extremely slow. It seemed like they needed additional serving staff. They had several hostesses, but it always seemed like there were more servers than hostesses. There were always two or three people at the door waiting to greet people. One thing we didn’t like was that they didn’t have the option to mix and match tacos. You had to purchase two or three of the same tacos, which didn’t leave you with many options. So, we opted to order three each and share so we could sample different tacos. With one drink each, our bill with tax and tip came in at about $50 each. It would be nice if they had the option to mix and match tacos and also if they had a happy hour menu.

A delightful Mexican restaurant opposite the Berczy Park. We went for a light lunch and caught the start of Happy hour. With well-priced tacos and burrito options. The lobster and shrimp burrito was to die for. It was so delicious. The churros we're also delicious. Good selection of wine, beer and tequila. The service was really good to.

The place has a nice vibe and the serving staff is really good. However the food was a lil disappointing. Ordered their fried cauliflower tacos and they were super oily. The amount of oil that dripped on the tray was literally my weekly consumption. It tasted decent, however the after taste was not a good feeling to have. Just finished my taco and beer and left.

Google
an incredible experience! I started with the freshly made guacamole—perfectly seasoned and served with warm, crispy tortilla chips. For the main course, the enchiladas were rich and flavorful, with just the right amount of spice, and the tacos al pastor were tender and bursting with flavor. The staff was friendly and attentive, ensuring our drinks were always filled and our needs met.

Husband and I ate here for our anniversary supper. We had the guacamole and chips as a starter. The chips are handmade and the guacamole is flavourful. My husband had the enchilada and I had the lobster tostadas. Both were amazing. We also had the tres leche for dessert. We highly recommend this place for anybody that loves Mexican food

The grilled fish tacos were excellent! Guacamole was delicious and fresh, and the tuna ceviche was perfectly seasoned. Perfect fresh chips with everything. Loved the decor! Perfect location across from Berczy Park and near the St Lawrence Market.

What a vibe. Went on a Friday around 730, not too busy. Started off with a regular margarita pitcher $85 (about 8 glasses so was the perfect shareable for 4) and guacamole. Incredible. Paloma pitcher was not as good as the classic but did the trick. Shared fish tacos, chicken tacos with mango and a beef burrito. Highlight of our Toronto trip. Service was fast and friendly. 10/10 and the prices were reasonable for the location.

The restaurant adapted to my needs and made a vegan bowl. Their original menu has few vegetarian options, but if you ask for a vegan version they can adjust it. Great service!

Yelp
Cozy seating, loud ambiance, and a fun vibe. Good service and food. Reservations strongly recommended.

Yelp
The vibe here is that of a Mexican cocktail bar. It seemed like the bartender was also the server for the restaurant, so the service was a bit slow. She did give us some great margaritas. The elotes were good, though there was a bit too much mayo. The tacos were completely unmemorable. Overall an OK experience, I would return for the margaritas and a gabfest.

Yelp
I am pretty sure mexico has more than just tacos and burritos for their cuisine. Because that's what mostly on the menu. My friend and I tried the Bahamas fish soft shell taco, which turned out to be the best. We also tried chicken taco and pork belly taco. They were just average. I also tried the tuna ceviche with avocado. This was OK, but there was a slight fishy taste to it. Last but not east, I tried the milk cake. This was very sweet. On the plus side, the service was great with friendly server. The bill for this meal came to $100 with tax and 18% tips. It's not worth it.

Yelp
We tried this Mexican place. The place is large but there were not many people even on the weekend. The place is adequately decorated and the service was excellent. The food was ok without being really remarkable. We had the a beef bowl and burritos with churros. I had the Mojito which was well prepared.

Yelp
All of the Mas Playas restaurants live up to their reputation for serving some of the best Mexican dishes in Toronto. I've always been a big fan of the original Playa Cabana location on Dupont, so I had high expectation when trying this newer location - and it did not disappoint. Similar menu, same great taste and big portions. We came on a weekend early afternoon and it was empty, we were the only patrons there. No reservation was needed. Service was fast - they cooked and served everything within 10 minutes of ordering. Ambiance was casual with nice music in the background that wasn't too loud (we could hear conversations without any problem). Review of the dishes: 1) Playa Burrito Bowl (vegetarian) - I liked the variety of protein options, including vegetarian. I loved the char on the vegetables (zucchini, yellow bell pepper, carrot strips, corn). The bowl had a good mix of all the ingredients (Mexican rice, beans, guacamole, fresh lettuce & red cabbage). Very tasty and wholesome. 2) Camaron Burrito - Gigantic portion, filled with Mexican rice and whole tender shrimps inside. It was topped with salsa verde, salsa roja, queso fresco, and cilantro; served with guacamole, pico de gallo, and lettuce on the side. This dish could be shared among 2-3 people. 3) Grilled Fish Soft Tacos - You can choose to get 2 or 3 tacos. Each taco consisted of a large piece of grilled white fish, guacamole, red cabbage, guajillo mayo, cholula, jalapeňo salsa, guajillo salsa, and cilantro. The fish was very soft and smooth. The sauces went so well with the fish, and each bite was like a flavour bomb in the mouth. 4) Lobster Crispy Tacos - Not many Mexican restaurants in the city serve lobster tacos, and Playa Cabana does it so well! They're very generous with the lobster meat. Each taco was filled with big pieces of East coast lobster that was cooked perfectly and not over-dressed. The salsa roja, queso fresco, crema, pico de gallo, guacamole, guajillo salsa, and cilantro all complimented the lobster very well. This is a must-get every time I dine at Playa Cabana. The only down side is that this location doesn't have any salad or vegetables-only item (as a side) on the menu, but hopefully that will change some day (they tend to change up their menu from time to time).

Yelp
I came here on a Saturday night with a party of three. We had a reservation for 7pm and were seated pretty promptly. The ambiance was pretty good, the decor and the music were really nice. but the initial service was just okay. we waited for about 15 minutes for someone to come and take our order and we were a little disappointed that a jug of water was at the table but there were no glasses for us to self-serve. We tried the Nachos a la Plancha Carne Asada Polla Al Carbon Chicken Enchiladas Suiza Pollo Tinga Crispy The "Nachos" were actually just 2 tostadas cut into 4 triangles each. There were a few filler vegetables like carrots in there that didn't make sense. Tha Carne Asada didn't have any flavour and had a lot of filler vegetables like onions and green beans. The Pollo Al Carbon mainly had dark meat which also didn't have much flavour to it. The Enchilada plate was pretty good, but the side dishes that came with it, like beans and rice were cold. Lastly the Pollo Tinga Crispy, was honestly the only item I enjoyed. It was flavourful and had lots of meat in each taco. In total, for 3 drinks & 5 small items the bill came out to $180 which felt a little steep especially for food we did not really enjoy. Overall the food was okay, the service was fine but the value for money was not there.

Yelp
We have walked past this place many times, so we finally took the opportunity to have an early (just before 6pm) dinner. Given the great weather, we took a patio table looking at the Berzcy park. The service was a bit slow - unlike the restaurant next door, there was no one just looking after the patio section. Given the weather, the patio was fairly busy - so it felt a bit unusual. The food was good, large portions (we had the beef barbacoa burrito and fish tacos), but nothing special. Having been to Mexico many times, the food felt authentic - there was no heat level specification, the sauces were tasty. The salad in the salsa was a bit old though - not off; but not fresh either. The cocktails were also great, and good selection of both Mexican and Mexican inspired (mules replaced with mezcal etc). That said, the food and drinks were very expensive - especially given the completion around this area. The prices are set as if this was fine dining, but the menu is only tacos and burritos. There is a big disconnect between the price and quality here. We were glad to try the place out - and cross another local neighbourhood place off the list; but there are many more places with better value for money.

Yelp
We were out and about near the St. Lawrence Market and were in the mood for a patio experience. Playa Cabana was right there and featured a small yet comfortable-looking patio. Sold! We'd already eaten a bit of food at another restaurant, so we decided to share the Nachos a la Plancha ("tortillas, queso Oaxaca, chorizo, guacamole, crema, jalapenos"). It arrived a short time later and was almost intimidating in terms of the amount of food that had been piled atop a fairly small tray. And indeed, these are very loaded nachos. All the components work really well together, from the tasty cheese sauce to the plentiful chorizo to the tasty guacamole. The only stumbling block was the fact that the tray had obviously been sitting around for a few minutes before we got it, because the dish arrived to the table warm rather than hot. This diminished the overall effectiveness of the dish, but I did still enjoy it quite a bit. I also grabbed Dave's Margarita and it was really tasty.

Yelp
So happy we chose to check out this Mexician restaurant on a night out. Service was amazing and they even have a nice patio space during the warmer months. We had 2 of their chorizo rojo crispy tacos and their playa burrito. Firstly, I appreciate that their tacos were a good size with plenty of filling and topping. I've had plenty of small sad tacos at the same price, so I was delighted to be served two tacos overflowing with filling. Secondly, their burritos are delicious especially served with rice and beans. It was the perfect amount of food for two hungry adults. Love that they make all their sauces and marinades from scratch and in house! A definite recommendation.

Yelp
We stopped by here Saturday night and had a really good experience. The service was ok and the food was fantastic. The ambiance was interesting with a combination of eclectic pieces the owner has picked up over the years. THE FOOD: Tuna Ceviche: - I've ordered lots of ceviche dishes over the years and this one was a huge portion and more authentic than most. I find in Canada, restaurants typically make ceviche wrong and this one was a good blend of tuna, lime juice and watermelon , that created a wonderful flavour composition. The portion was more common with what you would receive in Central America and I would give it 5/5 stars! Beef Tacos: - The beef tacos had a wonderful flavour but are definitely for someone craving a lot of meat. The tacos were very meat heavy and a little difficult to eat. The portion was generous but this wasn't my favourite taco due to the lack of vegetables. However this was my partner's favourite taco. I would give it 4/5 stars. Shrimp Tacos: - The shrimp tacos were really good. They were more plain than the beef ones in terms of flavour but they were easier to eat and had more vegetables via the salsa included with the tacos. I added a bunch of lemon juice, which made this flavourful for me. I would give this 5 stars. Would We Return? Absolutely!

Yelp
Enjoy most Playa Cabanas, this is a great option before or after a game. Nice selection of tequilas. I recommend the carnitas.

Yelp
Went for a work things, as our office is situated like 3 mins away on King St W. They provided us with a little platformed section in the back. Out president like that: being private, yet still apart of the vibe of the establishment. For the table we had pitchers of fabulous margaritas, and buckets of Modelo stubbies in iced buckets. For nibbles had tuna ceviche, chips and guac and later hotly prepared churros, with a lite carmel sauce. The staff were attentive, and accommodating. They were lovely hosts, as we got to spend time together. Fab drinks, great food and lovely hosts at the resto. Highly recommend.

Yelp
This is a pricey Mexican restaurant. The flavors were pretty good. The spicy mango margarita was tasty. Food can be seasoned a little more. They should serve some house made hot sauce which could be a great add. Tacos can be pretty messy. They should have cloth napkins instead of going through so many paper napkins. Our waitress was attentive and brought our food and drinks out pretty quickly. The interior looks like a dinner with a Mexican twist. They have nice neon lights all over.

Yelp
Nice place but very expensive for what it is. I only went for drinks so the review will be on that. Cocktails start at $17 which is quite high. We were a party of two and our drinks were $19 each, and after tip our bill was above $50 for two average margaritas.

Yelp
I love this place. Elotés were delicious, tacos were amazing and so were drinks. Servers took at least 10 minutes to come take our order but food came out reasonably fast.

Yelp
This place is really good. Our server, Michelle, was excellent and very personable. We had the Guacamole, Tuna Cerviche, Pollo Carbon and Shrimp Diablo. Everything was very good but the Ceviche and Shrimp Diablo really stood out. We also had a tasty Dave's Pitcher. A good experience for the three of us. A definite winner!

Yelp
A bit pricey but excellent food and service. Tacos have a lot of flavor. Enchiladas are quite good too and filling. Servers are very friendly and responsive. Would recommend!

Yelp
Even though the website says the restaurant closes at 11pm, the staff closes the patio at 8pm and the restaurant at 9:30pm. They won't even serve cocktails. We tried to get a cocktail after the theatre let out at 9:30pm, and the staff turned away dozens of customers -- even though the restaurant was still busy serving lots of people for dinner. It's an odd way to run a business. This restaurant needs to update its hours to accurately reflect when it's open. It's basically just a lunch and early dinner place.

Yelp
Super yum food. But not a lot of food choices. The bartender made a really good margarita!!

Yelp
Food was amazing... service friendly and attentive. Excellent place, inside is cool as well.
