Playa Cativo Lodge

This is an exceptional place to visit and stay. First, the wildlife is incredible; we saw sloth, toucans, hummingbirds, coatis, pecaris ,an abundance of birds and so much more (even a dolphin and whale). The resort itself is exceptional; clean, well maintained, truly and genuinely eco, incredible food (standout!) and amazing service. Every member of staff goes above and beyond to make your stay exceptional. We can’t praise this place enough. We also enjoyed the spa and the many tours we took (almost all of them). A place and trip not to be missed. Flawless and wonderful. |On a more practical note, you have everything you need in the room (we stayed in the main house) in terms of amenities. While there is no gym, running to and from the pier is possible and there are two yoga decks to enable you to do your own workout, plus a lovely hike to the waterfall. But you’ll be very busy with the great trips on offer!

This was the most incredible place we have ever been! The location is so remote and untouched, looking much like Jurassic park with the best wildlife, water and scenery. The hotel itself was beautiful, and our room was amazing - both in the style and also the breathtaking views! The food was world class, everything being grown on the property with a new menu for every meal! There was a whole host of activities from hikes, bird watching, kayaking and yoga! We did kayaking in the mangroves, with a very knowledgeable guide as well as a sunset boat ride where we saw dozens of dolphins! The final and most important point was the team at Playa Cativo! We have travelled to lots of places around the world and no team has ever been as good as Playa Cativo! Everyone was so friendly, went above and beyond to make your time special and accommodate your asks! Nothing was to bug an ask for the team, they are world class! The most magical place we have been to, we could not recommend enough for a special occasion!

Amazing location at edge of water. Rich in wildlife; dolphins, spider monkeys, crocodiles and so many birds. Adrian was the best guide on all our travels around Costa Rica; passionate and knowledgeable. Food top quality; delicate and delicious. Great service, with Keilyn and Kenneth standout stars at the restaurant.

The culinary experience at the establishment was truly exceptional. The harmonious combinations of flavors, textures, and beverages provided a multisensory journey. My personal preference was the octopus dish. Although I typically do not indulge in desserts, I found myself captivated by the unique ice creams and flans offered.||The accommodations exhibited a vintage aesthetic, reminiscent of a classic ship, creating an immersive and nostalgic ambiance.||Marcella's expertise and the spa experience were both highly commendable.||I wholeheartedly endorse Playa Cativo Lodge as an exceptional choice for discerning travelers seeking an unforgettable sojourn.||Kenneth's assistance was instrumental in ensuring a thoroughly enjoyable and memorable stay.

I was amazed from the moment I came down the boat and saw the most fantastic view of the rainforest just a few meters away, and the welcoming smiles of the staff were from the first time until the very sad farewell never extinguished,||The rooms are an adventure luxurious fantasy, I had one of the best sleeps ever listening to the sea and sound of the forest.||Kudos to the chef, I looked forward to every single meal, it was fresh and tasteful. Truly delicious.

This was an amazing experience. They are situated in the jungle, surrounded by native animals and birds with some black sand in the surrounding area. The food was outstanding and the staff were all available and friendly. If you want to get into nature, this is the place for you.

The room lovely, you have full sleep -rest. The diference experiences as are mangroove, dolphing sightseen, bioluminicense, are really on first level. The place allows interrelation with locals is easy, this adds the experience in the place.

The staff is so kind,the rooms are very clean,with amazing views,the food is great and the service is Unparalleled|I would definitely recommend it! Can’t wait to come back! Thanks to Kenneth,Laura and in general thanks to all the team. |Pura vida!
