"Water sports aficionados will want to head straight to Sunzal, a beach where surfing, snorkeling, and shallow scuba diving are the most popular activities. Local outfitters offer surfing lessons for beginners, though proceed with care: Sunzal has a world-famous point break."

An amazing beach and hardly anyone there!! 🙌🏼 so clean, beautiful, and has cool rock caves! Theres tons of food and hotels nearby too. Even better than Tunco beach in my opinion! 😍

This beach is perfect for soaking up the sun and enjoying breathtaking views. The water feels incredible, but the waves can be extremely rough, making it less ideal for kids or families. The black sand gives the water a darker appearance, adding a unique charm to the scenery. Despite the rough waves, this beach is a stunning destination and a must-see for nature lovers.

It was interesting for me to see the pacific in this par of the world. I was thrilled. love the rocks on the beach and the black sand.

Nothing special really, black sand but in a way that looks dirty, rocky beach, no infrastructure, water doesn't look nice. For me is an ugly beach but the sunset is nice that's why 3 stars. Also for surfing, kidding me, doesn't even have waves... People are used to very low standards so they overrated places around here.

Great beach for surfing or to book a stay and enjoy the warm weather of the country. Beach is public but is filled with properties, bnbs, restaurants and a few hotels. Easy to surf but not so much to be on the beach because it's filled with rocks. It's near El tunco and all kinds of transport are accessible.

We stayed here for 2 weeks during the 2023 new year celebrations. The waves were several feet over head everyday! Very powerful strong waves for the more experienced wave rider. Several secret spots a short car drive away. The sand is black because of the areas volcanoes (duh) but powders off when it’s dry like most sand. Restaurants were awesome and fresh with great prices. The people were so friendly and generous. Toured the Mayan ruins and coffee plantations. Both were amazing experiences! We will be back!

Beautiful beach, there's no many restaurants and hotels but it's perfect to surf, there's several big waves. Sunset it's magical here, you really get chill it's just you and nature.

Not a good beach area. Completely rocky coastline. It's supposed to be a surfer haven, but not much activity the day we were there. The most interesting part is the stretch of beach shelters and vendors, definitely an authentic third world feel to this beach.
