"The best of several great Atlantic beaches around Punta Rucia, Playa La Ensenada is made up of a fishing village and 4.5-mile stretch of sand with calm, crystal-clear water. Here, you can snorkel around submerged reefs in waist-deep water, or take a 12-minute boat ride through mangroves to a dreamy sandbar (named Cayo Arena but also called Cayo Paraiso, or Paradise Island) to see even more colorful fish. The size and shape of the sandbar change depending on the currents and season, so you’re always in for a bit of a surprise."

Very nice here and lots of restaurants and shadowy places. The water is nice, flat and clean, seaweed grows in places, but it's always manageable so you don't have to step in. There are a lot of mosquitoes out in the evening!

Such a beautiful beach, we stopped here on the way to Punta Rucia and I definitely prefer this beach over Punta Rucia. The waters are calm and for those not comfortable in the water, it is quite shallow and very clear waters. Would definitely suggest this beach to anyone heading to the west of the island

Had the pleasure to visit this beautiful beach on the northern coast of the Dominican Republic. The beach is very clean, there's multiple activities you can do there for a fee, from jetski, banana boat ride, etc,. There's a ton of food stalls that sell fresh seafood. The beach is mostly a bit crowded on the weekends or around holidays, but if you visit during the week, it will be mostly quiet. Definitely put this place on your list, if you are on the northern part of the island.

Nice beach with gentle waves. Quite a bit of seaweed and unfortunately, obnoxiously loud music blasting constantly. You have to pay to park. Beautiful sunsets. Overall, just ok. Certainly not the most beautiful beach in the Dominican Republic but it's good for this area.

Great beach with shallow waters! This is a short twenty minute walk from Punta Rucia beach. The walk is amazing if you like beach walks. There are lots of little restaurants with good local Dominican food and reasonable drink prices. This beach is great if you’re not a great swimmer but like the ocean, because you can walk out pretty far and the water is relatively shallow. Beach chairs are available for rent as well as banana boat rides and other floating things. Most restaurants had bathrooms and everyone was very friendly!

La Ensenada is an excellent choice for families with children, as the water is quite shallow, providing a safe and enjoyable beach experience for the little ones.

Love this beach, the water is less than an meter deep so you can walk out about 500m. The only thing is that during this pandemic and curfew I will advise to go during the week. Not a lot of solicitations from local which is a plus.
