Isla Mujeres Travel Guide

"A beachfront restaurant rooted in local culinary history, founded by Rogelio Magaña—known as “El Chilero”—who popularized the island’s signature tikin xic fish well before the area was connected by regular ferries. The tikin xic, painted with rust-red achiote paste and marinated in sour orange, has headlined the menu for decades and remains the defining dish here." - David Shortell David Shortell David Shortell is a journalist based in Mexico City. Best Tikinchix fresh bone-in fish. Served traditional style and over an open charcoal grill. Served with tortillas, cabbage, cilantro lime rice, and salsa with limes. We had the angeljack and it was amazing. Reminded me of what we ate ~15yrs ago on the island. Service was great and attentive. Beautiful presentation and drinks were great as well. The gin and tonic was so pretty. Highly recommend if you want a full fish fillet. We had 1 kilo and was more than enough food for 2 people.

We stopped here on the isla driver Robby tour and the food was amazing! We had the mixed ceviche and guacamole with fried fish and both were great! Also had some very good shrimp tacos. Will definitely go back.

Beautiful outdoor atmosphere and wonderful food! We have ordered the quesadillas and tacos every time we come and they never disappoint. We will always come here when we visit the island

My favorite restaurant! Food was amazing both times we visited (lunch and dinner). We fell in love with their pico de gallo and guacamole years ago! Both have so much lime flavor! The grilled garlic shrimp has me dreaming of going back already! The four of us liked all our food and the wait staff was great! My favorite place for Hibiscus juice!

Always a wonderful experience! Delicious tikin xic, unbeatable views, great customer service, and nothing better than a sweet visit from the handsome Tikin.
