Isla Mujeres Travel Guide

"A beachfront restaurant rooted in local culinary history, founded by Rogelio Magaña—known as “El Chilero”—who popularized the island’s signature tikin xic fish well before the area was connected by regular ferries. The tikin xic, painted with rust-red achiote paste and marinated in sour orange, has headlined the menu for decades and remains the defining dish here." - David Shortell David Shortell David Shortell is a journalist based in Mexico City. We stopped here on the isla driver Robby tour and the food was amazing! We had the mixed ceviche and guacamole with fried fish and both were great! Also had some very good shrimp tacos. Will definitely go back.

We just had a beautiful lunch, loved guacamole with fried fish, main dish was nice too. But got very surprised, not in a good way when were paying the bill, as waiter said that we also have to pay minimum 20, 25 or 50% tips!!!! Its not said anywhere how much you have to tip, and him telling us how much we have to tip was unethical. We were going to come again, but after that experience we wont!

Great setting for spending time on the beach ⛱️. But the food is a big let down

Food was delicious and the atmosphere was great. Couldn’t help but do a little dance in my chair.

Best Tikinchix fresh bone-in fish. Served traditional style and over an open charcoal grill. Served with tortillas, cabbage, cilantro lime rice, and salsa with limes. We had the angeljack and it was amazing. Reminded me of what we ate ~15yrs ago on the island. Service was great and attentive. Beautiful presentation and drinks were great as well. The gin and tonic was so pretty. Highly recommend if you want a full fish fillet. We had 1 kilo and was more than enough food for 2 people.

Beautiful outdoor atmosphere and wonderful food! We have ordered the quesadillas and tacos every time we come and they never disappoint. We will always come here when we visit the island
