Playa Maderas

This is a wonderful beach, great sand and water. Better than further south. There are chairs and umbrellas. It's about $7us to rent 4 chairs and an umbrella. You can get 1hr surf lesson with Board rental for $25US or you can rent a board for about $10 (they will teach kids as young as 10). There are two restaurants and a bar. The food was very good and they bring it out to a table at your beach chairs if you want them to. The only real drawback is the bathrooms. They are really bad. Otherwise awesome place we went three separate days with the kids and they loved it. The two older kids took lessons and spent two days practicing.

We enjoyed Christmas Day on the northern section of Playa Maderas (near J Kitchen as opposed to southern section near Hostel 3 Hermanos). The northern area was super chill, with only a few Nicaraguan families swimming and kids playing soccer. Great sandy beach and perfect for swimming. Not much swell in December for surfing. All the foreigners were at the southern section, surfing the small waves.

Gorgeous beach and sunset. Make sure you walk to the north end of the beach past the rocks. Spending the day at the small beach where the shuttle drops off tourists would be a mistake as the other part of the beach is much more beautiful. The road here can be a little bumpy but it seems they’re preparing to build a new one.

Loved this beach! Food and drink services and simple umbrella/chair rentals without having a gazillion lounge chairs lined up like a resort. Safe swimming and tide pools to explore!

Beautiful sitting beach. A nice set of waves for chilling out. Awesome colours in the sky, in the sunset, in the water. Beautiful people with nice manners. Local people with great skills helping visitors. Excellent for a family visit and surf.

Nice long beach. Mainly for surfing but also glld for a beach day. A few bars are there. Reachable by beach shuttle.

BEST SURF BEACH AROUND!!! If you came to surf, stay at the hostel here and rip!! Amazing sunrise sessions if you're a go getter! Beautiful Sun Sets! Lots of friendly dogs too

Great beach to watch the surfers and walk along the beach! I went in March during the afternoon and it was extremely windy, to the point where you couldn't enjoy the beach because the wind was blowing all your belongings arounds and sand was getting in your eyes. During periods when the wind died down, I really enjoyed my time here! I took the Casa Oro Hostel shuttle here. The ride was quick & cheap!
