A Hidden Gem - Private, Peaceful, and Surrounded by Nature This place is an absolute hidden gem! Tucked away in lush greenery, it offers a level of privacy and tranquility that you rarely find. While the beach area is on the smaller side, the overall experience more than makes up for it, you truly get what you pay for. The staff go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. They’re always friendly, welcoming, and eager to help with anything you need. This was my first time staying somewhere other than a traditional resort, and to my surprise, I actually prefer it! The atmosphere feels more personal and relaxed. Cons: If you're a smoker, you'll need to step just outside the property to smoke. It’s only a short walk, but it might be a slight inconvenience for some. All in all, highly recommended for anyone looking for a peaceful, nature-filled escape with outstanding hospitality.

We stayed at this hotel after arriving at another hotel and didn't receive what we had reserved. So basically, we stayed on a whim. What a pleasant surprise. A clean, spacious room with a view and a lovely patio with chairs and a hammock. The pool was clean, and the free breakfast was served to our room each morning. The staff was very accommodating and super nice! And we also had many great conversations with the other guests. I can't wait to return.

I really wish I could write a full positive review for Playa Palms Beach Hotel as the location, quietness and feel of the hotel was quite amazing. I was traveling solo and came back to my hotel after a long day out and noticed my safe was open, with money missing. When I brought this up to the reception, they did an "internal investigation" but nothing came of it. They were very pushy to get me to go to local police which I did not opt for given that I did not want to waste my vacation with the back and forth. Aside from this, the entire hotel smelt awful from the seaweed but this is simply due to the fact that it was seaweed season (not the hotels fault at all). Aside from these things, the room was lovely, location felt safe, was very quiet from the nightlife, very close to everything. I would imagine the beach would have been lovely outside of seaweed season.

I appreciate honest reviews. This place was worth what we paid and a fantastic location. There were of course some bumps and things that were not ideal, but overall I would recommend staying here. Things to know: the birds will come for your breakfast and it’s a bit annoying to keep them away each time. We didn’t have a table inside the room, so we needed to eat outside. The breakfast was nice and I liked you could add extra things if you wanted. Ordering it the night / day before was no problem. They were always on time. It felt safe and there are locks on the doors. The AC unit works but doesn’t do a whole lot if you want it cooler, it wasn’t hot at night so thankfully it was enough for us- but if your used to really cold rooms, you might not get that. Room: The bed was comfy even with being pregnant. However we booked a king bed and requested a top floor and didn’t get that. We also were supposed to have a hot plate and bigger sink (according to our booking) but didn’t have that which meant we had to wash our coffee cups in a tiny bathroom sink. We have had bad experiences with customer service in Mexico in the past so we didn’t try to move to a different room so I can’t speak on if they would have honored that for us. The location is amazing so you don’t hear noise from the clubs- however being on the bottom floor we heard stomping and water running whenever we were in our room. This was annoying the first night and woke us up a few times. The beach area was smaller than expected but not a big issue for us. You’re very close to all the shops and restaurants as well as taxis and collectivos. The staff were nice and friendly. Hope this helps!

We stayed at Playa Palms for 8 days and it was a perfect place for us. While being within a couple of blocks of the main streets with shops, restaurants, etc. and the nightclubs that really ramp up in the evenings, it was on a quiet street. The room had a small kitchenette so we could eat breakfast in and have some snacks and cold drinks. There was a comfy couch. The bed was super comfortable. We loved the little patio out front with a table & two chairs and a very comfortable hammock. The plants in the courtyard make a privacy and a peaceful view. While we didn't use the pool, we spent a lot of time on the beach and swam in the ocean. The staff were super helpful and always friendly. I feel the prices was a good value for what is provided. The only thing that could have been better was more comfortable lounge chairs on the beach. We ended up folding our beach towels up to sit on the make them a little less uncomfortable. Overall, highly recommend and would definitely stay at Playa Palms again.

Our stay was absolutely exceptional! The service exceeded all our expectations, making us feel right at home. A special thank you to Karen, Carlos, and Alfredo for their kindness and attentiveness—they truly made us feel like family, and we will miss them dearly. The breakfast was delicious, and our room was not only spacious but beautifully designed. For an unforgettable experience, I highly recommend booking an ocean-view room—the view is simply breathtaking!

It was a beautiful .... some of our issues is when they say partial ocean view. That's exactly what it is. You kind of have to hang out of your balcony to have a view of the ocean. other issue with this place was the fact that they give you complimentary cappuccino coffees in the morning. But if you book for 3 to 4 days you're going to only get it the 1st day unless you pay almost $5 us for 2, so I didn't get it until the 3rd day after I Reminded them that I paid for 3 days. So that means that every day I should get that complimentary coffee! Also you have to pre order your breakfast the night before or you'll be waiting at least 1.5-2 hours if you don't , we ate out first day and lastly found keys very hard to operate to get in and out. Freddie was great checking us In.

We stayed overnight before going to Cozumel. The front desk staff was polite and helpful. The room and linens were clean. The kitchenette had a sink, microwave, single use coffee maker and a two burner/glass top stove. We only used the coffee maker. Each room has a little balcony with a table, chairs and a hammock. If your room is further back like ours, 205 & 206 you can kind of see the ocean through the palm trees.||There are three floors and no elevator. The rooms are set in pairs up each narrow stairway. Our friends had the room across from us. No one was there to carry our bags up, but we did check-in in the evening and we didn’t ask. We also carried them down.||There is a small pool in the courtyard more for sitting in than for swimming. There is private beach access with a few lounge chairs. It is a small beach, not really setup for sunbathing on a towel, playing with kids or swimming. There were several small fishing boats tied up there.||As the description mentioned, there is not a restaurant on property, but you are only a block down from 5th Avenue where shops and restaurants are so the location is convenient. You are also far enough away from the noise while being close enough to walk to the ferry if you wanted. It is cobblestone vs pavement so wheeled luggage take a little beating.||The hotel handled reservations for our airport transfer from Cancun which was very helpful. ||It is a clean, quiet, low key place to stay in a great location.

Yelp
Perfect hotel to relax and recover from oral surgery. The receptions made checking in very smooth and even brought extra ice for my face. The room is lovely with a queen bed, bench area, table and chairs. Kitchen area was equipped with a fridge with separate freezer area, a coffee maker, blender, pots, and serving pieces. Enjoy the tv with some English stations. The patio table and hammock were very relaxing along with the pool area. The only drawbacks were the poor internet and that the beach area is much smaller since the hurricane in May. It impossible to walk along the beach now.

Yelp
A/c was not A/c I think it was a swamp cooler because it was humid in my room all night long I can't sleep in high humidity!! So yes i barely got sleep !! Hotel was right on the beach and close to all the shopping and restaurants Staff was kond Room was nice especially for the price I had the first floor so the ocean view wasn't the best but that was my choice to not spend more 60$ was enough for my budget Room was clean Hotel has a pool but didn't see anyone swim in it Night time was super quiet We Came on 11/26/2020 So maybe it was quite because of Covid ( not to many ppl ) and it was thanksgiving I would of evlooked for another hotel and pay more if i knew it to was a swamp cooler for an A/C !!

Yelp
There is a vast gap between the picture, the review on trip advisor and the reality here. 1. No telephone in the rooms, the only way to communicate with the staff is to walk down to the reception. 2.The building is approx 50 years old which brings a lot of bugs and ants 3. Rooms that posted online called "Ocean front" the truth is that you can see very small part of the ocean - the rest is blocked by the building and the trees(God knows why) they put in front of the hotel. 4. Breakfast is a disgrace , orange juice and coffee, 1 sliced bread for each person and one small cube of butter to share. 5.. Last but not least there's constructions going on every day! Coming from NYC is the worst experience you can have - listening to the hammers banging on the bricks for hours! Hotel policy offer $0 refund after arrival so we are pretty much stuck here after paying almost $1000 for 8 nights. Try to avoid this place under any circumstances!

Yelp
Neat hotel on the beach in the city center of playa del Carmen. Within walking distance from malls shops and hundreds of bars restaurants. The only negative about this hotel truly is the seaweed on the private beach, but 10 minutes walking is a nice white sandy beach.

Yelp
Booked 4 nights and after staying in the same room for 2 nights I was just told I have to move rooms and check out at 12 and then check in to another room at 3. So I have to repack all of my stuff and put it in storage until the room is ready. Wtf. Now the manager is not available. Worse customer service. This is mind boggling to me.

Yelp
Not going to tell the entire story but avoid this place as much as possible. Worse communication ever. I had to hear from Expedia that you guys were putting your guest into another hotel for shelter in place. I still don't have an email for that. I tried my best to contact you guys and even told Expedia that I don't know when we'll land it was either that day or the next (Still the unexpected happened the following day, they said there will be no flights), you guys said it'll be ok to check in either way. Yet you want to give that room away and said I was a no show. You guys got your money already from someone else. As for someone who works in the hotel business industry in Las Vegas, please learn how to sympathize with your guest AND listening to them. When there's shit that happens like the Hurricane Delta that just hit, don't just turn your guest away to "This request is subject to our cancellation policies." You all knew that was Cat 3/4 hurricane so there no was flights going to Cancun, they were all cancelled.

Yelp
Our stay here wasn't that bad so I'm surprised that aren't more reviews let alone a one star rating. Granted we stayed here a few years ago and for all we know it went completely downhill since then. Was going through my photo album so I thought I would share our experience. Now this wasn't a luxury hotel by any means and we knew that going in. We stayed here 3 nights for the first part of our trip because we wanted to explore the city and not waste money paying for an all-inclusive when we were going to be gone most of the day.The last three nights were going to be at Grand Velas where we could relax and do nothing but eat, swim and nap all day. This boutique hotel had good reviews and a high rating on Trip Advisor. It was also priced well for our stay from end of April to early May. Check-in went well except for the brief funny stare we got but we later found out why. Our travel agent had mistakenly put down we were celebrating our 50th instead of our 5 year anniversary so no wonder they were staring as we're no spring chickens but certainly not old enough to be celebrating 50 years together. We found out when we read the welcome letter left in the room. It was a small property and we had booked an Ocean Front Studio. Didn't care for the tiny spiral staircase but at least it was only two floors and the bell hop carried up our luggage. We had a decently large terrace to ourselves with a hammock, table and chairs. It offered a great view of the beautiful Caribbean Sea though just slightly blocked by palm trees but the trade off was the one minute walk to the beach. Room size was ok and they made animals out of towels for us. They gave us a bottle of champagne and also sprinkled flower petals to give it a romantic feel which was nice though I'm not much of a flower type of girl but did appreciate the effort. There was also a small fridge and microwave though we didn't use them much. Loved that breakfast was delivered to the patio daily. We were able to enjoy it while listening to the waves and getting fresh air. It was a basic Continental with juice, coffee, toast and pastries but worked well for us as we ate it before we got ready for the day. We would wake up early to walk on the beach then come back to enjoy breakfast before we showered. It held us over before we got a more substantial meal. It was great that they allowed you to select your delivery time as there was a day we wanted to sleep in a bit. Other than the dang birds that were noisy here and there as well a some ants in the kitchenette area we enjoyed our stay. Staff were friendly and offered to help us hail a cab when we wanted to go out to town. However most of the time we walked as 5th Ave was not too far. We also hired a personal tour guide, who was not affiliated with the hotel, that took us to Tulum for sightseeing, a beach front restaurant for amazing ceviche and to a cenote for swimming. We practically had the cenote to ourselves as there were only three other people. Jose was a great guide...super friendly, knowledgeable and very professional. Wouldn't mind staying here again but with so many options we'd likely try out a different place if we weren't going the all-inclusive route. Place is slightly above average at 3.5.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed 3 nights in this magical place and would happily return for more time. I love smaller hotels like this were you can easily walk in and out without going through long hallways and elevators. I guess it depends on what time of the year you visit in terms of weather. We stayed in mid March 2022 and it was perfect. The weather was humid outside but our a/c worked fine and so did our ceiling fan. We loved the cute home-like studio. The size inside and outside terrace were perfect. You can have breakfast delivered to your patio and overlook and listen to the ocean. You can hear the ocean at night as well. The patios are lined with plants and it gives very natury vibes, Opposite of a resort or high rise if you're looking for a break. Location is prime! You are in the heart of Playa del Carmen, a cute laid back town with a mix of locals, tourist and lots of foreigners who have migrated to live here and call it home. It's super safe and everyone walks around to enjoy food from all the amazing restaurants nearby or get some shopping done. La quinta or 5th street is just walking minutes away. Popular destination for souvenirs, arts or just regular shopping for yourself. You could easily stay in the area with plenty to do or book an excursion nearby. The main lobby is good at calling you a taxi that literally arrives within 3 minutes. If you want to snorkel I highly recommend Yal Kù which is an hr away. We also visited Tulum that's about 1.5 hrs away from here. There's atm's nearby but the fees are expensive so don't forget yo exchange currency before you arrive, although most if not all restaurants take cards and many of the stores as well. You can see and walk to the beach within a few feet but there are docked smaller boats so I didn't see anyone getting in tbt water. There's another main entrance to the beach a block away but away I'm not sure that's we're I'd want it enter either since I also saw boats there. Although I did see people going in and out perhaps to sun bathe. I'm sure there's a more inviting swimming area nearby we just didn't stay long enough. Breakfast was delicious and sitting in the tranquil patio listening to the ocean was my favorite part. You can easily see people sitting in their decks enjoying the hammocks a beer or glass of wine. It truly felt like paradise. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
I recently had the pleasure of staying at Playa Palms Beach Hotel in Playa Del Carmen. My entire experience from start to finish was incredible. I booked through a third party service and decided on the hotel because of the pictures they had on their site. I was not disappointed. From the moment I checked in until the moment I checked out the hotel staff was kind, helpful, and attentive. My room was a beautiful studio on the second floor with a large balcony that had a table and a hammock. The air conditioning was ice cold. The rain shower had amazing water pressure. The bedding was high thread count cotton. There were plenty of towels. One of my favorite things in the room was the N'espresso machine. I immediately ordered one when I came home. The hotel is a smaller boutique hotel that caters to solo travelers, families, or couples. There is a pool that runs right through the center of the hotel grounds which was a great place to cool down after hanging out at the hotel's private beach. Even the temperature of the pool was right on point. As if all these things weren't enough, the hotel also provided room service at a reasonable price. I had tasty dinners brought to my room in a timely manner every night. Make sure and get the coconut smoothie, it is the best. If you are interested in shopping 5th ave is two short blocks away. Personally, I preferred hanging out at the hotel. As I mentioned, the staff was absolutely lovely. I want to thank the following staff members for their kindness. Belen, Acollany, Andrea, Fabian, Mariana, Carlos, Jorge, Cassandra, Julia, and Daniel. All these people in one way or another helped in making my stay memorable. I loved the Playa Palms Beach Hotel. It looks exactly like the pictures and then offers you so much more to help create a delightful vacation. I can't wait to go back. So much fun!
