Penca beach is a gem - beautiful and less busy then other nearby spots. We go for morning walks with our dog and do occasional sunset walking which is breathtaking to see here. Highly recommend if you want something serene and less crowded.

One of the most beautiful beaches in Pacific Ocean side of Costa Rica 🇨🇷 Golden hour here feels unreal. The sunset paints the sky in warm tones, water at this beach is calm and perfect for a swim, sand is clean. It’s not crowded at all. Costa Rica’s Pacific coast offers countless beaches, but this one is truly special. If you’re looking for a place where the views leave you speechless and the energy feels pure, Penca Beach is my personal recommendation.

This is a nice beach. Crystal clear waters. Although it was very busy when we were there, limited parking available. There is vendors selling blended drinks, coconut water ect. Parking attendant will help you park for 2000crc - if there is an available spot. We walked from Potrero beach.

We came here twice. Sand is incredibly soft, white with some sparkly black volcanic sand mixed it. No rocks in the water, it was amazing for swimming. Waves were fun to body board. The rock formations were also beautiful to look at. It was not crowded, some shade can be found but best to bring an umbrella.

Beautiful beach but CAUTION!! HIGHLY POISONUOUS MANCHINEEL TREES located at one end of the beach. While there are many warning signs about parking and driving at the entrance to the beach, none mention this tree. Stay away from the trees with the small green fruit

I am giving it a 3 star review because of all the construction going on, the displacement of wildlife, all the trees that have been cut down in this area. It is a shame to see all this destruction of habitats. Be warned that there will be construction going on for at least the next 3 years, Monday to Saturday. It can get very noisy and not worth it when you are trying to relax. The acces is not "accessible for all". The beach used to be an amazing and isolated place to enjoy the warm water and beautiful color.

Amazing beach overall. There's a couple of trees that provide shade but there aren't that many. No rocks near the sand and the waves aren't that big, also the ocean water was really clean and crystal. I visited early Feb 2024 and there was only a couple of groups of people. There's some parking in the street near the entrance.

I can't praise this beach enough. Definitely the best one we visited on Costa Rica. Beautiful water, beautiful sunsets, great sand. Free parking is right next to the beach. Only few local people on the beach and one evening there were young locals who lit up a fire and made barbecue. Every time we tried a different beach we would come back to this one. It is a true hidden gem!
