Tulum is Utterly Terrible.

"I found the Mayan ruins, set above the beach and watching over the town, to be immaculately preserved — a clear genuine highlight amid an otherwise overdeveloped scene." - Matthew Kepnes

DO NOT buy your tickets to the ruins before you get to the official gate to buy them. It looks like they are officials, they tell you that its the same price, they will help you not stand in line, not one line up at all . Well, they are liars and thiefs, it cost us $300 Canadian to see the ruins and do a snorkel boat trip, the fellows we were hanging out with paid $20 canadian for both of them to snorkel and $80 Canadian to see the ruins. That is $200 less than what we paid. If we bought our tickets at the gate and then purchased a snorkel trip at the beach we would have $200 in our pockets, beware of scammers, ive traveled to 50+ counties and this is my first rip off.

Costs $400 mxn pesos to enter park and then another $100 mxn pesos to enter ruins. Worth it to spend the entire day there. Pack a lunch (can’t take any single use plastic in including water bottles). Beaches are beautiful!!!

Playa Ruinas in Tulum is a breathtaking beach where history meets nature. Nestled beneath the ancient Mayan ruins, this spot offers stunning views of the Caribbean Sea and soft white sands. It’s a unique place to relax after exploring the archaeological site above. A must-visit for anyone traveling to Tulum! Arrive early to avoid crowds and the midday heat and get comfortable walking shoes!

We wanted to go there from the ruines, but it was closed and it looked dirty also. They took us by mini “bus” for free (the entrance fee to the reservatum contained it) to other beaches so it was good finally to visit nice beaches also after the ruins. If it would be open and cleaned it would be 5 stars!

Playa Ruinas at Tulum is a breathtaking fusion of natural beauty and historical intrigue. Nestled below the iconic cliffside Mayan ruins, this beach offers turquoise waters and soft white sand, creating a serene escape. Visitors can marvel at El Castillo towering above while enjoying a swim or sunbathe. Perfect for photography, history lovers, and beach enthusiasts, it combines a cultural journey with coastal tranquility. Early visits ensure quieter moments in this stunning paradise.

Very nice park and ruins, worth 5 stars. However the price, communication and how to get there are very confusing. Be aware that you first need to pay 415 pesos to enter the jaguar park. Also Plastic bottles are not allowed, so bring sustainable bottles. Then you walk a bit to go to the entrance of the ruins; pay another 100 pesos. The ruins are nice and have a good view over the ocean (but not worth 25 euros a person). One advantage is that you have access to an amazing 'free' beach. I would say; visit the ruins and then just chill on the beach to make it worth the 25 euros.

This beautiful beach is free and offers a relaxing and calm space that’s definitely worth the visit. While it’s a bit further from La Valeta if you’re walking, the stunning beauty of the beach makes the trip worthwhile. Plus, it’s not crowded, which is a plus.
