Im uruguayan and I stayed over at playa vik with a friend for one night at the end of march. We were already in punta del este and when I told my friend about this place, we decided on the spot to stay there on Sunday, instead of leaving for Montevideo. The day was perfect for march and we swam on the pool all day, watched the sunset and it was perfect, and at night swimming with the star like lights is truly a dream! I believe the pool was slightly heated because it was never cold, considering it was Fall already.||Our room was amazing, it was called zen, had two twin beds, a private garden and a sea view, even though it was garden view, you could still see the ocean.||We brought a bottle of wine and the hotel bar they were very kind to keep it chilled and pour us our wine. |We spent all day at the pool and never left the hotel.|After the pool closed we went over to the bonfire to end the day, it was truly magical.||I’ve always dreamed of staying at this hotel and I couldn’t believe how magical the whole experience was. I hope to stay there again.||We also shared a couple of drinks and a dessert at the pool. On the next day, breakfast was soooo good! I had to take on a meeting and I did it over the common area since it was raining outside.||Thanks to ale from the bar, very nice to us with his recommendations!

My stay at Playa Vik José Ignacio was nothing short of magical. From the moment I arrived, I was in awe of the architecture—this place is an absolute architectural marvel. Sleek, art-filled, and effortlessly sophisticated, it’s truly a design lover’s dream. I stayed in the Fuerteventura Suite, which overlooks both the infinity pool and the ocean. Waking up to that view felt like living inside a dream. The bathtub alone deserves its own mention—spacious & sculptural. At night, the pool becomes pure magic—glimmering with twinkling lights that reminded me of a Rolls-Royce starlight ceiling. It truly felt like the stars had descended into the water. As someone with dietary restrictions, I was thrilled to find that everything at the hotel is gluten-free (except for a cute little “gluten corner” at breakfast that made me smile). The food was delicious, nourishing, and beautifully presented. The staff made the experience even more memorable. Always smiling, kind, and eager to help—they really make you feel at home. Walking along the beach each day was deeply soothing, and I was pleasantly surprised to discover Vik Bahía just a few minutes away by foot. I visited their wellness center, The Shack, and loved every moment there. Although La Susana was closed during my visit, everyone I’ve spoken to insists it’s the place to go—so I’ll definitely be back to experience it. Highly recommend Playa Vik to anyone seeking beauty, serenity, and inspiration in one of the most special corners of the world.

We’ve had an amazing experience at CieloMar restaurant, at Play Vik hotel. Food is gorgeous, the views are incredible, and the architecture is out of this world! Prices are reasonable and according to their service and quality. We’ll certainly be back! ♥️

I have very mixed feelings about this place. |The good : |Great location, |Futuristic design of hotel with attention to detail in furniture etc |Spacious suites with floor to ceiling windows, |Right on the beach,|Infinity pool with exceptional sunsets over it, |Staff members work hard and try to meet your needs. ||The bad: |Limited staff means important areas like reception are often left unattended. |There is refurbishment works as soon as you walk in so access to main building is tricker and also it’s not aesthetically pleasing to constantly see the construction. |In our 1,000$ a night suite, the aircon didn’t work and the heating couldn’t be switched off so it got to the point that we were sweating in a 28 degree room and had to stay in the room with the front door open to let air in.|The second night our blackout blinds were disabled by the staff without anyone informing us. They tried to get them to work but unsuccessfully and I asked how we are meant to sleep without them and the reply was « oh it’s ok, the sun doesn’t come up until 8am ». I thought that was a strange reply so I looked and the sunrise time was just before 6. And even if it WERE two hours later, for guests who are paying 1,000 a night, there should be no excuse for not being able to close the blinds. In the end, they found a room next door (with working blinds and a working aircon) which we moved into for the last night. |The gym has very old rusty equipment which needs changing asap. |Details in the rooms and hotel itself need some TLC- scuffing/ peeling paint/ dirty windows… just general neglect. |Food was not great. Especially breakfast which only had toasted bread at the « buffet » and the only thing you can request from the kitchen is eggs. For the price you are paying, a full menu would be nice. Also « cacio and Pepe pasta » is NOT plain pasta with a side of parmesan…||Overall, the hotel is gorgeous and location is stunning but I really wish the owners/ management would be more present to make it feel less neglected. I’ve put photos of both the good and the bad.

I desperately wanted to love this hotel but despite the great futuristic design, beach front location and spacious suites , it really felt like the property was neglected and only had a few staff members for the whole place (often resulting in whole areas being unattended), as well as ongoing construction work while we were there. Furthermore, our 1,000$ a night suite had a broken air conditioning system and the heating couldn’t be turned off either so it got to the point where we couldn’t stay inside without the front door open to let air in. Things got worse as on the second evening the blackout blinds in our room stopped working and it turned out they had been disabled by the staff earlier that day without anyone telling us. Thankfully another suite next door was available for us to move into. I’ve attached photos of both rooms but also of the lack of attention to detail when it comes to keeping the hotel at a level where it’s worth the price. Also: I’d love to see more options on the breakfast menu(so far only eggs available) and in general food quality should be improved. Gym needs renewing too. Equipment is rusty and very old. What I liked was the sunsets over the pool, the layout of the suites, the quality of bathrobes/ slippers / toiletries provided and how nice the staff were , you can tell they work hard.

My wife and I had the great pleasure of attending a wedding celebration at Playa Vik in March 2019. We stayed three nights at the property, and didn't want to leave. ||||From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the amazing architecture, and the even more amazing view of the sea from our rooms. ||||The staff on the premises took great care of us and we were made to feel at home from the get go. While my friend's wedding was the main highlight, I was pleasantly surprised with a birthday cake the day after, from the hotel. ||||There was a decent spread of food for breakfast, and the food from the restaurant in the main building was good. There is a lovely game room where one can play ping pong, and a gym if one did not wish to engage with the beach right on your doorstep or swim in the infinity pool.||||This was an unforgettable experience, and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for relaxation with killer views of the sea, and top notch service.

We stayed at Playa Vik for 4 nights what an experience. This ultra-modern resort is an architectural jewel with great artwork and amazing rooms. We were fortunate enough to have the room directly over the cantilevered infinity pool. At sunset, the pool area can get crowded with guests from Playa Vik and Bahia Vik taking pictures of the sunset. Our room had floor to ceiling windows that slid open by remote control for great photos of the sunsets.||Our room itself was amazing our walk-in closet was comprised of beautiful wood shelves and drawers the size of a small bedroom, the hallway as long as a bowling alley and an extremely comfortable bed looking out to the ocean. The bathroom was huge and beautifully designed. Probably the largest and most outstanding hotel or resort room we have ever stayed in and we have seen most of the world.||The included breakfast was delicious with a wide array of choices.||The staff was top notch and very helpful with anything we needed, they even made lunch and dinner reservations at all the restaurant we were interested in and had a typed list of these reservations when we checked in.||As an example of their amazing service one night our taxi was 10 minutes late showing up to take us to dinner. The next night they had a staff member with a car waiting for us a half hour ahead of time so there would be no delay.||This is what luxury is all about!

Setting is beautiful. Service is fine. |Rooms are worse than a motel room despite extremely high rates. Nothing worked properly in room (toilets, outlets). Mold in bathrooms, damaged mill work, super cheap furniture and bedding. Really awful experience.
