As a work-from-home mom this Play Cafe is an absolute dream and I'm so glad to find a place like this in Quincy. I'm reviewing this business 1 month after their grand opening, so as they expand some of these details may change.
Currently they have coffee and lotus options and a couple small packaged snacks (goldfish crackers, etc). They have all the expected coffee options including iced, hot, lattes, and milk substitutes. They have unique lotus flavors with fun names like "sidewalk chalk". Unfortunately I'm pregnant and am limiting my caffiene intake, but the few drinks I've had here have been super yummy and affordably priced. I'd easily compare the quality to other small coffee shops in town.
The real highlight though is their play area- which is essentially an indoor gated play room filled with toys age appropriate for kids 1 to 8. My two girls (a 1 year old and a kindergartener) absolutely love the area. There is a soft cushion climbing area, an ice cream/ coffee cart, building toys, dinosaurs, and books. They do seem to rotate toys and there are often new fun things to find. All of the toys are clean and very well-maintained. They do have a separate area just for young babies as well.
Parents can sit in the play area or at a bar that lines the area, looking in. There are also couches, comfy chairs, and cafe tables. I prefer the bar area, as I can watch my children while also working on my laptop, writing in my planner, etc on the bar top.
One thing I very much appreciate is that the ambiance music is kept at a very low volume- which I think helps keep the kids at a low volume as well. The decor is comfy and gives kind of an earthy boho "beige mom" vibe- which again, is very calming. The staff are very friendly and easy going and seem to allow free-play without micromanaging the kids.
I'm just so grateful a place like this came to Quincy. We'll be frequent flyers here. Clean, kid friendly, welcoming, and comfy. What more could a mom ask for in a coffee shop?
