A spacious and historic square that once played a key role in Cartagena’s trade. Today it’s surrounded by beautiful colonial buildings and feels like stepping back in time.

It is very beautiful, looks calm even in the most crowded time. There are places like Cartagena Museum of Modern Art in the vicinity. The end of the square opens to the historical city center and another square with the Clock Tower. There are ideal angles and width for photographing. Towards the end of the square, you can find the public toilet built inside the walls.

This is the beautiful area which we entered the Walled City. We came in on a cruise and were just on a too short excursion...I very much wish we had more time. Absolutely beautiful area!

This is the largest and oldest square in the Old Town and was used as a parade ground. In colonial times all the important governmental and administrative buildings were here. The old Royal Customs House has been restored and is now the City Hall. A statue of Christopher Columbus stands in the center of the square. Worth visiting for the elegant, colorful architecture, Plaza de la Aduana is one of the most visited areas in the walled city, with many restaurants, banks and exchange shops. The square itself is very beautiful, surrounded by equally stunning buildings. It's a great place for memorable photographs and is often converted into an open-air concert venue and hosts many great events in the city including the Cartagena de Indias International Film Festival which uses the square as an open-air cinema, showcasing many of the festivals featured films.

Beautiful plaza!

This was more of a thoroughfare as opposed to a destination. But it's a large plaza inside the wall that hosts gatherings and the ever present vendor. We saw a peace rally and a free concert. There are also three banks on the perimeter if you need cash and a Hard Rock Cafe if your stomach has a hankering for comida del USA.
