Plaza de Ponchos

It’s a lovely square with a local market. The people are very kind and sell different kinds of things like scarfs, ponchos and jewellery. Worth a visit when you’re in Ecuador.

A typical outdoor market, but larger than most. Lots of touristy items that are mass produced and not artisanal as I expected. Only a few items of true artisanal quality.

This place was a riot of colors, vendors and just lovely stuff all around! We went to the Saturday market and there were dozens of vendors selling all sorts of interesting things. The prices are pretty steep but it's a great experience to be amidst the lovely Chaos! I highly recommend this place if you want to get a flavor of the local culture.

The Otavalo Market is here and also on surrounding streets. Multiple stalls selling clothes and various souvenirs, as well as fruits, veggies spices etc. Lively and colourful

Good outdoors markets but most of the item sre not real artesanal product. Price are sbove the avarege for item like mask if u go innthe near city of Sant Antonio de ibarra they are much cheaper and bettere quality and from true artesan If u are looking for a real masterpiece in wood the best place is Nativo /Posada del arte the paint an the wood artcraft are incredible a true artisan and artist

Plaza de Ponchos is Otavalo’s main square where local artisans gather to trade their goods with visitors. “The fair” used to be only on Saturdays, but now you can find artisans every day of the week. There is a vast variety of products ranging from high quality handcrafts to inexpensive souvenirs. My personal favorites are the necklaces and the hand-woven textiles. This is one of Ecuador’s must-see places, make sure to take your time walking around if you get the opportunity.

Great place, full of beautiful handcrafted gifts. You can find ornaments, clothing, jewelry, musical instruments, anything. The best time to visit the Plaza is early in the morning around 8am. Prices sometimes can be little high but they accept fair offers. This is is must visit when you visit Ecuador.

Amazing !!!!! walk around and see what you want first. You can definately barter. Such a cool place! I was actually surprised they had stuff that fit me being 6 foot 3 with long arms.got a XL jacket and XL sweater that fit perfect!
