One of the most beautiful and historic squares in Oviedo, it was originally named after a small pond (fontán in Spanish) that once existed here. Today, the square is surrounded by arcaded buildings, and its many outdoor cafés and restaurants create a lively and welcoming atmosphere.

Well worth a walk through as you walk around Oviedo, especially if you learn the history of this spot. It was once a lake, then filled in, then replaced by a fountain........along time ago.

A beautiful square which is on days of holiday transformed into an open air market.

Great part of Oviedo to visit with statues, cafes, restaurants and other buildings including churches (⛪️) to see and visit. I recommend that if you're in the city you should at least consider visiting.

A nice place to have a drink with friend whilst taking in the fresh air.
The fountain itself may come as a let down to some if you are unaware of its diminitive stature, so be warned.
