Plaza Hotel

We noticed that the hotel is undergoing renovations with some rooms renovated fully while others are to be done. We were surprised to get a room that was far better than the photos, which we are told are very old pics. The hotel is close to eateries, shopping and entertainment, which is what we wanted. It can be noisy on weekends if your room faces Hindley St, but there are rooms available well way from the noise, which we chose. While the older rooms are looking tired, they are clean. We found housekeeping and desk staff friendly and helpful. The price was more than reasonable and allowed us to stay on longer in adelaide and enjoy the city and surrounds.

I really hate to write this review because in a different setting, this place could actually work. Let me explain.... The hotel is going through major renovations. The room I stayed in was just renovated and was actually pretty modernized. Clean modern paint on the walls and new carpet and nicely design bathroom. The room had brand new fridge and new furniture. |The bad side...... location location location, it’s located directly across from a bar / club. Meaning if you are looking to stay here to party, this is your place. If you are looking to stay here and actually expect to get some sleep during the night, You won’t!!!!!! The music and the party life from the clubs across the street is extremely loud...and it won’t stop until about 6 in the morning. So yeah, no sleep at all! The room needs a little tweaking, the armoire had no clothes hangers, I guess they expect you to bring your own. The bed cover had visible stains and didn’t seem to go well with the new furniture. The guy at the front desk... not very friendly! So, again unfortunately even though the hotel is going through a renovation, I think it’s not going to help the bigger underlining problems.

I cannot write anything positive about this ‘hotel’. How it made a booking website I will never know. Sadly we arrived on a weekend for 2 nights, music ‘thumping’ until 5am on both. I agree with a previous comment with location away from the front balcony. The room is very dated, it’s lacks love. The bathroom door didn’t close, in fact we couldn’t move it without coming off it’s hinges. There’s a so called fan in the bathroom with a lead hanging but not a socket to plug into. We tried stuffing towels in to soften the noise but nothing made an iota of difference. Shower cubicle had been painted and the paint peeling off. |Only 2 plus points, hot water and clean sheets. |Sorry but the worst ever!!

Not the best place. Room was dirty, toilet wasn't cleaned at all with a lot of dirt in the toilet itself, and the shower could use some cleaning as well. Wasn't able to get any cold water from the sink, just warm and hot water. I wasn't able to open any window so there wasn't a lot of fresh air. Sheets were clean, I got clean towels and the people working there were very nice, but the room and bathroom could use a serious clean up. Oh, and don't trust the elevator!

I have never in my life been in a motel room so disgusting as this! We actually felt so unsafe we left after 20 minutes. Filthy linen & rooms. No smoke alarms, rubbish lining the hallways. How this motel has passed health & safety checks is beyond me! No fire exits, rubbish stacked 4 foot high in the quad in the middle of the motel. The fact they make you pay to stay her is a disgrace! It was like something out of a horrible nightmare

Disgusting. Man at front desk didn't seem to know much. Lift scary. Floors uneven and water damage visible. room was above bins and smoking area. I was seriously looking to see if there was any chalk outline. Mirror so high you could not use it. Furniture old and chipped. I asked if they had a better room and the man said no, yet in a follow up email, they stated that we were offered a different room. Liars. We left immediately and paid for a different hotel. They refused to refund any money. Totally wrecked our adelaide town experience. Shocking. RUN. This does not even deserve 1 star. Should be condemned.

Great value for money. Much better than many other motels I've stayed in. Friendly staff. Down to earth and helpful. Can buy food from local shops and cook on premises. Only downfall is the terrible loud music booming outside every night til about 1-2 am. Earplugs an advantage!!! After that however it's peaceful. Other patrons all seem friendly and easy to get along with. Overall seems a good place to stay whilst in Adelaide.

Location was great, central to everything that matters in Adelaide. Noise levels weren’t ideal but we knew it was on the same street as many clubs and pubs. Front desk staff were very friendly and welcoming. A massive negative for this place was the housekeeping lady, she was awful, rude and intrusive. Few interactions with her made us feel uncomfortable (she let herself in while I was changing).

I'm not sure if you've ever seen a 2-star hotel before...and granted you'll have to walk into the middle of Hindley Street Adelaide (i.e. we call it the "dodgiest" street in the city) to find this one, but I assure you that you too will agree with me...of 2-stars...for an empty hotel. Let me explain. Whoever created their hotel front is questionable, which made me think "this is definitely not good enough" for someone like me. When you step inside and see the interiors, it's so ugly looking. On a more positive note, Plaza Hotel is close to many surrounding shops, cafe bars, restaurants, nightclubs and general entertainment. They also have wireless WiFiZone broadband service! Plaza Hotel also has a hairdresser, Coffee Cafe Bar, Trendy Clothes Shop and an art studio. A 2-star empty hotel. This a first!
