I'm in Missoula 4-5 times a year to fish. Usually we're staying out on the river somewhere. But we always come into town for dinner once or twice.
I've wanted to try Plonk for years. Strangely, my fishing buddy from New Hampshire, who's a total foodie, refuses to eat at nice restaurants when we go fishing. I struggle with food allergies so eating fried bar food doesn't work well.
On our recent 30th anniversary road trip with my wife earlier this month we landed in Missoula for four nights. We did some fishing (Blackfoot River and Bitterroot River) , and we also came into town to eat at Plonk!
There was no second guessing. We headed right to Plonk. The atmosphere is fantastic. Even during COVID. Tables were spread. Doors to outside open so lots of fresh air. It was a warm summer evening so we picked a table on the inside, but right at the large open nano-doors.
Plonk has an artesian craft bar with an excellent selection of fine liquors. They have a fun cocktail menu to go with that. I don't drink much anymore due to my allergies (can you imagine being allergic to alcohol and beer? Ha. ). That being said, I will have a good tequila drink every once in a while. They had excellent collection of fine tequilas. Babbs had a glass of wine.
Menu is solid. Lots to choose from regardless if you like meat, veggies, fish. Our meals came out solid. I grabbed pictures of the menu and sent them to my fishing group, just to rub it in!
I will for sure eat here later this year when I come back. If my foodie buddy doesn't want to, that will be ok. I don't mind dining alone :). And the staff here is incredibly friendly and super up-beat so a lonely burger wouldn't be so lonely.
A must stop in the dinning scene in Missoula!
