How to Plan a Trip to Brixen, Italy

"A nearby mountain offering skiing and hiking, described by Martina Rabensteiner as a "wonderful hiking and skiing area" with "spectacular" views. Located just under five miles from the town, the winter playground features seven lifts, miles of pistes, hiking trails, and toboggan runs, plus a handful of lodges and mountain restaurants for mid-day meals and après-ski." - Lydia Mansel Lydia Mansel Lydia Mansel is a writer with more than eight years of experience editing and writing for both brands and online publications—with a particular focus on travel, fashion, and lifestyle. The Plose ski area, located above the city of Brixen (Bressanone), is a charming, small-scale resort ideal for 1–2 days of skiing. It offers modern ski lifts, well-prepared slopes, excellent restaurants, and breathtaking views—all at reasonable prices. Additionally, the large free parking area adds to the convenience. For an average to good skier, it’s easy to cover all slopes in a single day. In March 2025, snow conditions were limited, reducing off-piste opportunities. However, in a good season, the area provides plenty of safe and accessible off-piste skiing, ski touring (randonnée), and snowboarding. Overall, Plose is a good choice for a short ski getaway with a mix of well-maintained slopes and scenic alpine landscapes.

Plose Ski Resort offers a variety of medium-sized slopes, primarily designed for beginners. One of its standout features is the serene atmosphere—most slopes are uncrowded, providing a peaceful and leisurely skiing experience, all set against the stunning backdrop of the Dolomite Mountains. During my three-day visit, I never had to wait for a lift, which made for an incredibly smooth experience. The only drawback is that the resort has just one advanced slope, which might not be enough to satisfy expert skiers looking for more challenge.

Not a very big resort, but still I had a lot of fun in here.

Great spot to take the kids. Really loved riding along the Woodywalk. Lots of things to do here like MB, a bobsled ride, playground, hiking trails. Great views as well. Really had an enjoyable time and also found the gondola staff really helpful when I brought my small kids with me they assisted me with my bike. Thank you!

It's breathtaking view and spectacular scenic view. Riding cable cars without guest card is expensive but it is worth value and nice organized for woody walking. Perfect for every aged. We love it.

Great area. Not super huge but enough for a few days. We really enjoyed it. Good lifts; only critique is that the passes are quite expensive for a comparably small ski area. On the other side, almost all pists do have a great scenery. :-)
