My girlfriend & I had thought we'd try somewhere a bit far from home for a simple, nice date night. The drive was nice up from Beverly; 1A is a nice way to go. When we got there, the scenery was very nice: marshlands & a pretty sky with only one road disrupting the view.
There was luckily no wait, though from her prompting for a reservation I'm sure the place has its moments for it is not large at all. In fact, the total indoor capacity was probably about 45 customers. We were seated at a bit of a cramped table next to the door, obviously not an issue to us or we would have chosen to wait until a better table came along. However, regardless, there were some flies buzzing about that, though they may have not been the restaurants fault, ruined the ambiance a bit.
The bus boys were both a bit bedraggled looking & weren't quite always there to fill their duties. & oddly, what water we did get was lukewarm. I'm not sure if that's a conscious effort by the restaurant or not. Our waitress was kind but arrived a bit infrequently.
The food was incredible. I had the Caper Chicken entrée & my girlfriend had a salmon special & both were absolutely fantastic. My chicken was moist & flavorful & she said her salmon was one of the best she's had. However, for prices of nearly thirty dollars each, the portions were incredibly small. They didn't even give a filler of some pasta, just a measly amount of mashed potatoes that were decent.
Overall, it's not a bad restaurant. If you live close & you have some expendable income it may be a nice place to check out. But it certainly wasn't worth our drive, & for a check over 60 dollars, I definitely wished at least I had my stomach full.
