Small Ways to Support Hawai’i’s Ecosystem While Visiting

"At the resort’s all-day restaurant, the Maui Nui Venison Burger is a standout: a savory axis-deer patty (from an invasive species that’s humanely harvested) topped with sweet-smoky bacon–pineapple chutney, nutty Waialua cheese, and Kawamata Farms tomatoes. The meat is leaner and nutrient-dense rather than gamey, and a portion of sales supports KISCA’s nonprofit partners focused on preservation—Mālama Maunalua, Koʻolau Mountains Watershed Partnership, and Maunalua Fishpond Heritage Center—making the dish both flavorful and tied to conservation efforts." - Katie Chang

Everything was incredible, every bite was perfection. The crab was sweet , and fresh, the sushi was incredible, the grounds are breathtaking. The dolphins are so cute and healthy. Very well cared for. The only thing is I wish the buffet was bigger. The selection was relatively small.

We had one of the best breakfast buffets ever at the Plumeria Beach House within the Kahala Hotel. The service was great, the views are incredible, and the breakfast spread was outstanding. If you're looking to treat yourself for breakfast, this place is highly recommended.

I'm guessing we went at a wrong time. Not impressed with their breakfast buffet, not at all. The selection was bad. Didn't get my money's worth. We'll try lunch or dinner and update. But a nice view.. some servers were nice, a couple ladies were not really. Overall, nothing special that worth coming back for a breakfast buffet.

Pretty views with indoor and outdoor seating and reasonably comprehensive lunch menu. Friendly staff and efficient service. The chicken on my Chicken Caesar was a bit dry on the outside but the romaine lettuce was well dressed so that helped moisten it.

After our elopement in Hawaii, we reserved a lunch at The Plumeria Beach House to celebrate, noting the occasion in our OpenTable reservation. While the message didn’t seem to make it through, the moment the staff overheard us talking about our wedding, everything changed—they came by one by one to offer congratulations and even surprised us with a sweet little cake to celebrate. It was such a kind, genuine gesture that made our day feel even more special. We both ordered seafood dishes and they were incredible—so fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The service was quick, friendly, and attentive without being overwhelming. And the setting? Absolutely stunning. Open-air dining with ocean views right from our table, with the beach just steps away. We took a walk down to the water while waiting for our drinks, and it felt like something out of a dream. This place is more than just a restaurant—it’s an experience. We’ll remember that lunch forever.

Dinner at Plumeria Beach House was a standout. The fried ahi poke musubi was crispy, savory, and packed with flavor. The Crispy Wok Fried Prawns were perfectly cooked, and the chicken fat rice was rich, fragrant, and addictive. A classic Mai Tai tied it all together — smooth, strong, and tropical. Amazing food with an unforgettable view.

I used this restaurant for my daughter's birthday celebration. This menu is recommended for those who want to enjoy everything from salad to fish, steak, rice, and dessert. Each dish was meticulously prepared and everything was delicious. The ocean view was fantastic. After eating, we took a walk in the garden outside and took commemorative photos. It was a wonderful memorable day.

Google
This place is all about the location if you want to eat overlooking the ocean, with well manicured greenery around. The views, breeze and the experience are all spectacular. You'll leave this place smiling and unfortunately for us it wasn't the food that did it. The food is super average for vegetarians. The grain bowl I had was just palatable. The burger was the same. For this location, I wish they gave a bit more attention to their food. The service and the staff were super friendly and attentive.

Yelp
We had a birthday luncheon there recently. We couldn't be happier. The staff were very accommodating, the setting beautiful and relaxing, and the food was so delicious. I highly recommend it. We expect to visit again soon.

Yelp
We had our Thanksgiving buffet luncheon last minute reservations the reception that took the call. We have been going to the Kahala Hotel and Resort's Plumeria Beach Thanksgiving luncheon and friends visiting Hawai'i.. our server was polite (I couldn't hear her name), she made sure we were doing alright every chance she could with our meals & drinks. We love the drive out to Kahala and the hotel's restaurant facing the Pacific Ocean. We were situated not in the dining area where the buffet was served but another dining room table where the view was facing the lawn and the indigo blue skies. Their food was exceptionally made! The caving station of prime rib and ham superb! The turkey cuts were in the chafing dish station with other condiments galore! We will next year make advance reservations to be seated in the same room (hopefully) ... it was quiet and enjoyable Thanksgiving luncheon we had!

Yelp
Plumeria Beach House was one of the highlights of our stay at The Kahala Resort. The breakfast buffet was divine and even though we went multiple times throughout our stay it didn't feel repetitive. There was always something different or special, like Malasadas over the weekend. The view is absolutely gorgeous, fresh air, and wonderful interior design. The service somehow was even better than the food and ambiance. We were very fortunate to have Randy as our server for most of our trip. Randy is the epitome of the Aloha spirit, just genuine kindness and love for the island that radiates from within him. We are so grateful for our time at The Kahala Resort and cannot wait to come back soon as a family of 3.

Yelp
We love the Plumeria Beach House and always try to squeeze in the opportunity for brunch when we are on Oahu. I love the ambiance of the restaurant, it's a nice and open space. You can either sit inside (closer to the food) or outside near the water. Either locations make me feel really relaxed and happy. The food is delicious! There are so many options to choose from, starting from the pastries which I believe are mostly in-house or local, the fruit and yogurt options, soup, smoked salmon, and even steak. I love the make your own cold brew bar, juice station, as well as the omelette station (you can choose to get your eggs over easy). Service is amazing, the servers are really tentative and friendly. We love talking story with them!

Yelp
I had lunch here with a group of girlfriends to celebrate my birthday, and it was such a lovely experience. The restaurant has a mix of indoor and outdoor seating with a gorgeous view of the ocean, which made the atmosphere feel extra special. Our waiter was attentive right from the start, quickly taking our drink orders and making sure we were comfortable. Since we were a larger group, we had to pre-order our meals, but everything came out right on time and was absolutely delicious. I ordered the Signature Bento, and it did not disappoint - the presentation was beautiful, the portion was just right, and everything was cooked to perfection. The bento included a Chocolate Macadamia Tart, which was a sweet finish on its own, but the restaurant went above and beyond by surprising me with a complimentary slice of birthday cake. Such a thoughtful touch that made the day even more memorable! Will be back to celebrate more special occasions here!

Yelp
Breakfast buffet is AMAZING! We went on a Sunday at 10am and it was busy but not chaotic. It's $55 for adults and about $25 for kids. We made reservations but to they were able to seat us 15 minutes earlier. There is an incredible variety of sweet and savory from fresh fruit, waffles, oatmeal, bacon, omelette bar and brisket (that was super good!!) ! I wish I took more photos to share. There's a bar too so if you want a fancy drink, it's available. What I loved most was their signs that showed allergens in every dish. That is SIMPLY AMAZING for people like us with food allergies! I would highly recommend and can't wait to go back again. Service was great! The buffet was out till a little past 11am.

Yelp
This is always a pleasant choice to have a breakfast or lunch w out-of-town guests or a family gathering. The views from the outdoor seats are mostly shaded and this area of kahala always seems to have a good breeze to keep things cool. The best part of dining near the beach is there is almost no one passing in front of you - unlike in Waikiki. If you like a buffet there is a breakfast and dinner version. There are always a la carte choices if you decline the buffet. Lunch is strictly off the menu. Their breakfast buffet used to be quite extensive and a very good value. Now, while the price is lower the number of items offered and the variety of foods has noticeably decreased. Coffee is served in a carafe on the table which makes refills easier, but specialty barista made coffees were not offered. If you dine outdoors it is a good idea to always have one person at the table while others hit the buffet for another plate. There is very aggressive pigeons that will fearlessly attack a plate of food as soon as the table if left unattended. The servers will shoo away the birds but they cannot stand guard over your table. The other alternative to leave cloth napkins covering your food. Service is generally good, though it is mostly limited to removing empty plates. And they are happy to snap a photo for you if you desire. Complimentary valet parking is convenient - don't waste your time trying to save a couple of dollars by self parking

Yelp
I recently came here to have lunch celebrating a friend's baby shower. We were a party or 5, so there was automatic 20% gratuity charged. The atmosphere was pleasant. Our table was outdoors. Our waiter was attentive and friendly. The assistant waiter made sure our water glasses were fulll. I ordered a Kahala Burger ($28) that came with side of either tossed salad, sweet fries, or frenchies. I opted for the salad. My meal was delicious and filling. They gave my friend a small complimentary slice of cake with the words "Congratulations!" We thought that was sweet. The bathrooms were clean, and overall all the staff were professional and friendly. Our parking tickets were validated, so parking was free.

Yelp
This was my first time here and I was treated to a great Father's Day brunch by my daughter and SIL. The 4 of us (granddaughter included) had a 1:15pm rez thru Open Table and it was a madhouse when we got there. Since she requested a outside patio table to enjoy the view, it took longer than expected for us to be seated. We got seated at around 1:40, got my GD situated in her highchair and then ordered drinks. One of our servers, Eddie, was so helpful to assist us in spinning our table around so that it had full shade under the umbrella. He also was awesome enough to graciously take our photos in the garden after brunch was done and they were all cleaning up. The brunch spread was terrific, though some of the more popular items (crab legs, crispy pork) were running low, so I waited till "round 2" to grab those, and started with a little salad, sushi and sashimi. Round 2 was the crispy pork with buns, prime rib, and some fruits for my GD. Round 3 was supposed to be a full plate of crab legs, but there were only 3 pieces left and they hadn't replenished them yet, so I opted to grab a plate of various desserts. By that time our server, Justin, came by to inform us that the last call for food items (other than dessert) was going to end at 2:45 (it was 2:30), so to grab whatever we wanted to eat. I tried again for the crab, but it hadn't been replenished yet, but my SIL spoke with the prime rib chef who said he would "hook us up". True to his word, less than 10 minutes later, a full plate of crab legs arrived at our table. Mahalo! The weather was great all day and all of us enjoyed ourselves tremendously. My GD, who just started to walk, had a great time walking around the garden area and wore herself out. It was great spending the afternoon with my family and, although it was super busy, the staff did a pretty good job in keeping things under control to ensure that we all had a good time.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant in the Kahala Hotel with beachside views, friendly service and delicious food. Reservations were easy through OpenTable for a busy Friday night seafood buffet. Highlights were the crab legs, fresh ahi and salmon sashimi, both ahi and spicy tako poke, and prime rib. Fried chicken was good too. But the Kahala Signature Bread Pudding stole the show for me, and is truly exceptional here. Our server was just alright, but I could tell around us that the service is a key part of the experience. For a buffet especially the old plates were taken away very slowly. The hot towels were a nice touch, but I noticed other tables had hot towels + lemons, which help after crab legs. The cocktails seem to be a specialty here, especially the Mai tai. I opted for a cider, which was served a little lukewarm but it was refreshing. The view here is amazing, with several folks pausing to take pictures with the ocean backdrop. It was unfortunately cloudy, but I can see this place capturing many gorgeous sunsets. The restaurant is super kid-friendly, with lots of space near the beach for them to safely run around. Overall, the price may not be worth the special trip, but maybe for the Bread Pudding. Yes, it's that good here.

Yelp
Located at the beautiful Kahala resort with ocean and beach views. This was our second time here after flying in on a red eye and landing at 5AM we headed here to grab breakfast as they open around 6-630am. There's two options, breakfast buffet or ordering off the menu, seating is inside / outside and they also have bar seating as well. The food is normal buffett with some extra goodies as far as Hawaiian flavors, love that there is a wide variety of options to choose from. The views outside are absolutely beautiful, nothing like eating breakfast with an ocean view and breeze.

Yelp
We held a birthday surprise here and reserved a table for at least 20 of us to arrive at 8:30am. Self parking was easy to find and rates are 4 hours free with validation. Without validation, it will be $20 per hour. The staff were very friendly and they were quick to refilling the coffee jug and clearing away empty plates. The view of the beach where we sat is gorgeous. The food layout for the buffet was very nice, all different kinds of breakfast included. They are known for their dessert crepe, it's so delicious. They had a build-your-own omelet station and beef brisket station. They even had a little Japanese section with natto and onsen eggs. If you're okay with the price and you like to eat breakfast to your hearts content, definitely check it out. Once you're done with breakfast, take the time to explore the grounds. They have live dolphins!

Yelp
Eric. are server, was excellent and we always enjoy his friendly and helpful style. When we come here we always get the whole fried fish. It is fresh and you must order it 24 hours in advance. You will be so happy that you did. The poki musubi and fried shrimps are some of our other favorites. Lots of good eats here. Nancy Z

Yelp
I've been thinking about staying at the Kahala Resort to start my trip back home to O'ahu. I did a test drive at the bar at Plumeria, the all day dining option at the resort. We shared the fried ahi poke musubi, and I had the sig mai tai. First of all, the musubi was real creative. It had fresh ogo (limu), and a garlic/ginger creamy sauce. The crunchy outside contrasted nicely with the fresh ahi inside. Secondarily, the mai tai is in the Top 3 I have had in the islands (the other two being the Moana and the Royal). It was not overly sweet, and it packed a punch. I was feeling the effects of the drink after one. Regarding the ambiance, its big here. Plumeria has a breakfast buffet, and a dinner buffet on certain evenings. Steve, our bartender treated us with a lot of Aloha. We really felt at home here. I need to add the Kahala to where I stay on O'ahu. It is quiet and secluded, unlike the hustle & bustle of Waikīkī.

Yelp
Service, ambiance, & food always impeccable. This might be one of the last of the mohicans! So many fine dining restaurants closed their doors. Yet kahala remains unscathed and still at the top, and I am happy as a clam since I hate change and have so many memories of here and Hoku's ...well over 20 years.

Yelp
Food was ok like any typical hotel buffet. The omelette station didn't have much meat variety, only had ham. but one star for the meat cutter who wouldn't give us more than one piece of steak even tho we have 5 people for our family. He refused to let me grab a steak for my 3 year old, when I explained I have 3 kids he passive aggressively cut my one piece of steak into 3 pieces so we can share. "One piece per customer". My kids don't count as customers???! Even tho we're paying for them?? We paid $55 an adult and $26 a kid. My kids are 6 and 3 and cannot reach the counter to ask for a piece of steak themselves. And then they demanded 20% service fee for bad service. 20% tip for a buffet where I was mostly serving myself besides the omelette and meat station is absolutely absurd. I wouldn't care as much if we didn't have get regulated by the meat nazi. Btw I only asked for two pieces and he said no Why call it a buffet if you can't grab what you need? Ridiculous.

Yelp
We went to the Plumeria Beach House for Thanksgiving Dinner 2025. We thought the food and ambiance would be a stellar experience since it was part of the Kahala Resort. We were wrong. The food was average, The poke was not very well seasoned and was on the warm side. The rib roast was tough and the lechon was not very flavorful. In regards to service it was minimal. Yes it was a buffet, but the wait staff should be checking in with us regularly. If you want a good buffet, go somewhere else.

Yelp
This is one of my mom's favorite spots so of course we had to come here for Mother's Day. When you come here, you're really coming here for the view and the vibes. This open-air restaurant has ocean views and you're steps away from their dolphin enclosure. We came for breakfast which runs from 6:30-11am and is $55 for adults and $24 for keiki, which isn't too bad for a breakfast buffet at a 5-star hotel. They have all the classics omelette and carving station, pastries, fruit, bacon etc. With some local favorites like portuguese sausage and a bread pudding dessert. I loved their eggs benedicts and the tiny rolled crepes were also so good. I also really liked their drink selection from orange, lilikoi and guava juice to a iced coffee station. Parking is super easy here, either free validated valet or self-parking. I went with self-parking and it was super easy and actually we got to our car quicker since valet was backed up after brunch got out.

Yelp
Great service, spectacular views, mouthwatering food. Been coming here since I was a toddler with ohana to see all the wonderful things happening any this beautiful luxury hotel on Kahala beach! Highly recommend staying & playing here.

Yelp
Celebrated a friend's birthday here and enjoyed the Seafood Buffet. The crab and prime rib were delicious! Also, the bok choy was cooked perfectly. I loved that we could see the ocean from our table. Our server was great, I wish I got his name but he said he grew up in North Shore. I will definitely be back! :) This is the perfect spot for special occasions.

Yelp
Great restaurant, beautiful atmosphere, and wonderful service by our server, Juli! I had for lunch the curry, chicken papaya salad and it was amazing! Growing up in Hawaii, I've never appreciated papaya. Until now! This is a recommendation by Juli! I appreciate her service and the wonderful experience we had there!

Yelp
The ambience here is so peaceful with views overlooking the beach and their service makes you feel pampered. The food though is average with high hotel prices. The Kahala Saimin was pretty good, it had the standard assortment of pork belly, egg, bamboo shoots, and bean sprouts. It was served warm. Also ordered the chicken sandwich. It was basically an upgraded chicken tender with all the sandwich fixings and choice of fries or salad. The chipotle aioli (not spicy) for some reason made me content with the sandwich it was. Hot tea (tea packet) was $7 and came with lemon/honey and additional hot water, iced tea was $8 and refillable. They validate 4 hours complimentary self parking.

Yelp
I had breakfast at this beachside venue three days, choosing something different on each visit. Common to all three visits were: coffee ($7) and a glass of Champagne or sparkling wine (price varied). On the first visit, I opted for the Plumeria Breakfast Buffet ($55). I went to the omelet station, selected my desired ingredients and handed them to the chef handling that station. I asked for some roast beef on the side. Afterward, I went to the serving stations and added some bacon and strawberries to my plate. Later, I picked up a croissant, butter and jam, and a cinnamon roll. This proved to be just the right amount of food as I planned to skip lunch. The tab for this visit came to $95.39, including tip. On the second day, I ordered a Sweet Butter Poached Lobster Benedict with asparagus spears and breakfast potatoes ($45). There was a generous portion of lobster, and the Hollandaise sauce was perfect. The asparagus was fine, but I wished the breakfast potatoes were fried a little more. There used to be more peppers and onions ... this one was pretty plain. The glaring negative was that the taro roll forming the base of the Benedict was rock hard and I had so much difficulty cutting it that I gave up. This was an unexpected failing of the kitchen. The total came to $87.25, including tip. On the third day, I ordered the Plumeria Omelet with breakfast potatoes ($28) and a side order of wheat toast ($6). This time, I had a glass of Champagne ... On prior visits, I chose a California sparkling wine. The omelet was fine, but the breakfast potatoes were undercooked (for me) and there was scant onion and no sign of peppers. I was given three slices of toast cut diagonally and the plate included a dish of butter and a small container of strawberry preserves. The total was $128.66, including tip. Later, I realized that my server erroneously charged me for two glasses of Champagne. After I reported this, I was given a $50 credit. For the most part, the service at Plumeria Beach House was fine. I can recall it being better, but on these three visits, it was satisfactory. Postscript: I read my reviews from 2023 and a few of the "problems" identified have yet to be addressed. For that reason, I'm downgrading my rating by one point. I remain hopeful that improvements will be made by the time I return in 2025.

Yelp
If you're looking for a nice breakfast or lunch over looking the beach with fresh air and a relaxing atmosphere, reserve a table at the Plumeria Beach House at the Kahala Hotel. They have valet or self parking. I'll take my 1934 sedan and the valet let me park it out front. For this I tip them well. The food is excellent and the service is top notch. I don't know much to say about this place but it's class from the time you drive up to the valet to get seated at your table. You can take your time eating and just enjoy a really good meal and a beautiful scenery. Take a friend from the mainland or make it a day with your friends and reserve a day at their spa after your meal. Enjoy the finer things in life!

Yelp
Amazing food and service with a beautiful view of the ocean too! We enjoyed Friday buffet with an abundance of seafood including snow crab legs, shrimp, and sushi. The snow crabs were a good size and served with butter, the shrimp was shell off with cocktail sauce and the sushi was incredible with ahi, shrimp, salmon, Inari, futomaki, etc. The desserts were great too! I tasted almost all the desserts and was told I also needed to try the bread pudding that was the best I ever had. The price is hefty, but what you get and the beautiful views and service were worth it.

Yelp
We stopped for a quick lunch. Service was excellent. So was the food. Anywhere in the restaurant is pretty much oceanfront so it was very relaxing. Parking lot was full so we parked with valet. Restaurant fully validated the parking so just prepare tip for the valet. It was all good.

Yelp
Such a great dinner buffet!!! I highly recommend! The service was great! Refills on drinks were spot on. The food was so good. I will be coming back!

Yelp
Staycay and decided to hit up Plumeria for lunch. Hubs made a res for us and baby to sit inside. We were seated right outside so when it started to drizzle, hubs got went. With the baby, we were trying to avoid too hot, rain, and birds. Wasn't too hot, but we got the rain and the birds. Oh well. Hubs got the tonkatsu - good he said. Katsu sauce was kinda tangy. Strange. Came with rice and miso soup. Baby loooved the miso soup so ordered her another. While we waited, hubs put water in the bowl and she enjoyed that too. Maybe she didn't really know better. She was happy though, so we were happy. I got the bento box. Sashimi, Portion of the poke musubi, Miso Butterfish, Steak, Rice, and a dessert. Shared with the hubs and baby, and together we finished everything except the dessert. Pretty good...I had it before and enjoyed it. The next day, we were at the pool and since you can't get food at Pool Bar til 11am, hubs went to go order us a grilled cheese sandwich. It was 10:15 and apparently grilled cheese is a lunch item. He was told no can...luckily a manager was there and said can. Thank you to whoever gave the go-ahead cuz we were hungry! 3 of us shared the $13 sandwich and fries to hold us over til lunch. Some of the best fries. Not sure what they do but it was delish. Just a normal small kid day kine grilled cheese... doesn't get better than that...

Yelp
My partner and I came here twice for brunch during our stay at the Kahala Resort. The first time we went, we were greeted by a warm and friendly hostess who sat us quickly at our preferred location. For $55 per person, the breakfast/brunch buffet was pretty good value for the quality, variety, and amount of food you get. We were stuffed each time we came. Some of my favorites were the hashbrown, the bacon, and the sugared donut. We got to enjoy all of this right in front of a gorgeous, stunning beach. If you're staying at the Kahala and want a quick good quality breakfast/brunch buffet in front a beautiful beach, then would definitely recommend the Plumeria Beach House.

Yelp
Was so excited be invited to the Kahala for a late Christmas Eve dinner with my family. The atmosphere was so beautiful, tons of beautiful decorations and a huge Christmas tree right in the lobby of the hotel. We were a little early for our reservation so they didn't have our table ready yet so we went to look at the dolphins in the dark lol. We could still see them but I didn't get any good pics. The server and I think one of the managers that was checking on us was so nice, honestly one of best experiences I've had at a buffet. Normally buffets just seat you and forget about you. Sushi quality was excellent for buffet style and they had crab legs and other yummy food options but I just went for the sushi and poke mostly haha. My uncle said he wants to make this an annual event, I'm so ready for next year!

Yelp
#23 of 52 (weeks of trying a new restaurant at least once a week) My parents celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a staycation at the Kahala hotel. They invited us down for the Seafood Buffet that they serve on Friday's and Saturdays. I'm always up for free food so it was an instant yes! There were 7 of us and we were seated outside. The weather was perfect and the view unbeatable. We all got the buffet so we headed up. Lots to choose from. There is a salad and poke section and also had shrimp cocktail. Then they had prime rib and smoked salmon at the carving station. They also do a chef's choice pasta selection they make to order but I can't remember what it was. As for the hot food they had mashed potatoes, mixed veggies, a seafood boil, crispy garlic chicken, butter fish, fried calamari, steamed snow and king crab legs and rice. For dessert they had bread pudding with a sauce to put on top, chocolate mousse cake, fruit tart and tapioca. I loaded up my first plate with poke, butterfish, prime rib, snow and king crab legs, calamari and some of the seafood boil. Additional plates were mostly butterfish, snow crab legs and calamari. Now I do enjoy vegetables but I wanted to eat my weight in crab legs so I didn't let rice, potatoes or veggies take any room in my stomach. All the food was really good. Prime rib was cooked perfectly and the horseradish cream sauce was nice and tart. I really enjoyed the flavor of the calamari. The butterfish was perfect. On to the crab which is really what I was there for. I did not really enjoy the king crab. The shell is just to hard and breaks into tiny pieces. It really was too much work for little reward. However I really enjoyed the snow crab. Much easier to eat and so sweet. They had butter to dip it in which made it all better. I don't even recall how many times I went back for snow crab. My mother said I definitely got her money's worth...ha! My dad's only comment was that he thought there would be more seafood. I can understand that. Really all they had was the shrimp cocktail and crab legs. There was some shrimp and clams in the seafood boil but that was it. For a seafood buffet he was expecting a lot more seafood like cooked shrimp, mussels, scallops, etc. I am not a huge dessert eater but I do love bread pudding. I finished my meal with the bread pudding smothered in sauce as well as a lilikoi bar (I think) and a piece of chocolate mousse cake. The bread pudding was so divine! You have to add the sauce. I also enjoyed the other two as well. The buffet is $89 (I think) but they do offer a kama'aina discount bringing it closer to $81. Do make sure you check your check though because we got charged for an adult buffet, when it should have been a kid's buffet, and our kama'aina was left off. Double checking our receipt saved us $100! My boyfriend was out of town so he missed this delicious dinner. I told him we'll have to go back for our anniversary.

Yelp
We finally arrived from a 12-hour trip, missed our reservations at another place and didn't want to put in the energy of searching, so we decided to try this place after learning that they have a weekend seafood buffet. The buffet price was $90 per person, which seemed to be the classic resort tax, but we are stuck-like- Chuck...so, oh well. The atmosphere was very pleasant yet busy, but fortunately, we got a reservation and was seated on time. Since we had not heard a lot of raving word-of-mouth reviews from others who had visited Hawaii, we were apprehensive about finding good restaurants. But...well, well now...we were pleasantly surprised that most of the items were good! We even came back for breakfast. We tried the crab legs (good), salt & pepper shrimp, scallop fried rice, Hawaiian sweet rolls, clam chowder, oreo cheesecake, Thai fried chicken, a pudding cake, fruit, including pineapple, and breakfast, including Portuguese sausage, which was all good. Now this pineapple was like none I have ever tasted before! Where did this come from...have I ever tasted real pineapple before...I did not know something different than tart existed...am I beginning a new love affair with pineapple?! I have never been a huge pineapple fan, but this was seriously the most delicately, sweet piece of fruit I have ever tasted. Where ever has it been? The sweetness was savory enough to eat all day. It tasted like candy, but a really high quality candy. Okay...moving on... this Portuguese sausage is my new food friend. The only thing I can say is I have to come back. The pineapple and sausage made up for the very negligent server that night...she was bad. But the morning server was very attentive. In the midst of it all, I found my new friends pineapple and Portuguese sausage! It's a win

Yelp
Wow! Such a lovely meal. My sister insisted on treating the family here for dinner and while I did fully enjoy it, it's impossible not to overeat to feel like the $90 per person is worth it. They had poke, sushi, lobster, crab, fresh pasta, cooked salmon, rib eye, salad, fruit, fried chicken, misoyaki salmon, veggies and more!! For the desserts they had bread pudding (AMAZING), lilikoi pastries, coconut tapioca (delicious) chocolate mousse, and more. Service was on point!! It was pretty busy but they were extremely attentive. Love eating next to the ocean and also that they had efficient fly fans and mesh covers for all the food so it was protected. I would definitely come here for special occasions.

Yelp
First of all, it saddens me to post this honest review for an establishment that was once a favorite of ours.... We've dined at Plumeria Beach House several times in the past few years & have always loved this place - the ambience, fine service & delicious food, especially their Weekend Seafood Buffet dinners. Some of our favorites were the crab legs, the clam dish, the butter fish, their poke & sashimi, salads, desserts, etc. I know that they've raised their prices this year and last night, we were very sad to see that this restaurant is no longer the same. Let me begin with my reservation..... from the Plumeria Beach House website, to make a reservation online, you are directed to OpenTable, which I have used many times in the past. After inputting the number of people in your party, date & time desired, you get directed to another window with 2 options - "standard table" or "outdoors". Based on our past experiences here, we prefer not to dine outdoors, so I selected "standard." Upon our arrival, the hostess led us to an outside table on the patio. I told her that I had requested a standard table or inside. Not wanting to make a big deal of this, we settled for the outside table. Later in the evening, the hostess came back specifically to show me a printed slip that she said showed me only requesting a quiet table & not my other choice of table location. So obviously, my question is why does the online reservation site ask you to make a table selection when your choice is not passed on to the restaurant itself? I only mention this because the hostess made it a point to print out my reservation slip & present it to me in front of my family & the other diners. This was a Saturday night & although not full, the staff looked quite busy. Water was served & later our waiter came over to take our drink order. We then went up to the buffet, we noticed some changes in the food offerings. The was no Butter Fish dish, the Clams are now prepared differently (not as good), no Tako Poke & now the crab legs are next to the Prime Rib station with a server placing the cold pieces on your dish. On our last visit, the crab legs were (heated) on the buffet line & you could serve yourself. Also, it seemed as though the quality of the crab legs has gone down - much more difficult to break open the shells & not as tasty as before. While some of the other offerings (entrees, fruits & desserts) were still good for a buffet, there was nothing outstanding here. Even the Prime Rib was mediocre. Despite the changes of the food offering, we still tried to make the best of this family gathering. Our experience here soon got worse... In the dim lighting on the patio, I noticed an tiny ant on my plate. I quickly smashed it & a minute later I noticed another ant crawling on my arm. I didn't want to alarm our party & was hoping that maybe this was a freak occurrence only on my side of the table. A few minutes later, the family member across from me said that there were ants on his plate. And then a third family member said the ants were on her plate also. By now, it was later in the evening & several tables on the inside were open, so I informed the staff about the ants & requested to be moved to an inside table. The wait staff was very understanding & accommodating in moving us. I apologized to our waiter for the humbug & he said that another party on the patio table next to us also notified them about the ants. Throughout the evening, our waiter was excellent & even comped our beers(3) for the inconvenience of the ants & having to move tables. While we very much appreciated his great service & kind gesture, it's impossible to overlook or forget this very unpleasant ants-ruined evening. This is definitely not an experience that you would expect at such a nice restaurant like the Plumeria Beach House in this top rated hotel. Earlier this year, we had the opportunity to dine at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki buffet & also at the 100 Sails buffet at the Prince Waikiki. I would have to agree with another reviewer who stated that your dollar would be far better spent at one of these other buffet restaurants.

Yelp
A very hot experience. Located at the Kahala. Walk down the stairs on the right side of the car drop off. They validate. The service was good. Attentive servers with a positive attitude. The view was nice. Right next to the beach. If your here at lunch you will guarantee catch small wedding on the side of the yard. The food was fairly good, bordering average. So I've tried lunch and breakfast. The pizza was good. The açaí bowl was big and had a nice assortment of fruits. The breakfast sides of meat were a lot of bacon, like 6 pieces. The coffee was good. The menu needs a revamp. When reading the menu items it appears too simple, so the prices appear high. 2 eggs, toast, choice of meat, and a drink for $48! You want 2 waialua eggs as a side? That's $12. Twelve???? Whoa, so I get that you gotta pay for labor, but don't apply the same percentages for sides so more people are likely to order them. There is a mismatch going on and I felt a bit suckered. I get the guests might not have much of a choice, but the locals do. Other issue is the weather, which isn't under their control. However, a temporary tent structure with some umbrellas are not good enough, not for Kahala. They need a trellis with fans. This was during December, which isn't hot, but sunlight makes the experience unpleasant. When sitting inside with some fans, it's not as hot, but there was very little wind, so I was sweating on both visits no matter where I sat. Lose, lose. Overall, there are good things here. However the ambiance/ heat issues and unjustified high cost of certain items keeps this place as a 3 star.

Yelp
Really great buffet and attentive service. Beautiful view and landscape too. I have a shellfish allergy and there were plenty of options for me, my family was able to eat the seafood and they really enjoyed it. Generous portions, large oysters, nice cut of prime rib, fried chicken, and good desserts. Was also happy to have fried chicken. It's not the largest buffet, but everything they had was very tasty and high quality, and in my opinion that's better. We had an amazing experience here!

Yelp
Plumeria Beach House or as I remembered it as Plumeria Cafe is located at The Kahala Hotel & Resort. The restaurant is downstairs to the right. It has a magnificent view of the beach. Very nice and airy restaurant. The lunch menu has a bit.of everything: local and traditional! Starters, Soup & Salads, Pan Pizza, Bowls, Local Specialties, Sandwiches. Plus, their Kahala Signature Bento I ordered the Signature Bento for $42. It was served in a nice teishoku box. It contained the unique Ahi Poke Musubi; 2 thin slices of Sashimi; 2 small pieces of moist Misoyaki Butterfish cooked perfectly; nice fresh Kula Green Salad with a piece of tomato; sliced.pieces of Rib Eye Steak, pretty yellow ginger scallion Jasmine rice. Also, it comes with dessert: Chocolate Macadamia Tart. Hostess was nice enough to mentioned that there is a 10% Kamaina Discount by showing your Hawaii ID! Valet parking is easy and there is 4 hour parking validation! I would have given 5 stars but the ladies room is old and needs a refresh! The Toto toilet was not working properly. Very disappointing for a restaurant and caliber of this standard! Please renovate!!

Yelp
Recently, Plumeria Beach House has a Hawaiian buffet on Sunday nights. I went to this buffet today. The Hawaiian menu was very delicious. They also had butterfish. The salad bar had plenty of vegetables, ahi, and bokeh octopus. For dessert, they had haupia, pineapple upside down cake, and bullet pancakes. They also had homemade fried pickled skin. Everything was carefully made. There was live music, too, which was nice.

Yelp
Consistent quality, but the menu doesn't change. We went for a birthday brunch and the menu is exactly the same from 2+ years ago! But the food is excellent, so I have no complaints. Location is right off of the beach so it's a perfect spot for brunch. The servers are always very friendly and attentive.

Yelp
We went here for the buffet today and it was pretty solid. The live entertainment was wonderful and the hosts were nice. The food was fresh and there was a decent variety of items. I liked the butterfish, steak, poke, and huli huli chicken. I wish there was more variety to be honest. When we received the check, there was a 21% required tip despite us being a party of 5. On their website and the menus provided to us (they only gave us the drink menus), there was no mention of this required fee. Moreover, this fee was handwritten on the receipt so it felt like we were being pulled a fast one. When we confronted the management about this with screenshots of our reservation and the various policies on their website and the menu that we looked at, to their credit, they quickly fixed this issue and addressed our concerns with the receipt that we received. Given all of this, I believe it would be fair to rate this 3/5. Food was pretty solid 4/5 Live music was 5/5 Service was 2/5

Yelp
Great location, usually great service. Would be a higher score but last visit I made a reservation a few days in advance of my wife's birthday and it was for a Saturday. So we get there and check in, get shown to our table and are patiently waiting for our waiter for 5-8 min without menus and when our waiter shows up and we ask him for some menus, we only then find out that it's buffet only for that night. I didn't know this when I made my reservation, or when we checked in...only when we had sat down and waited for our waiter to inform us. Plus the buffet was much more than we wanted to spend ($55 each vs $20-35 for a regular delicious entree) and that said food was mediocre at best. It should've been amazing at that price. We would've went somewhere else to eat but we only had a certain amount of time as our babysitter only had a few hours available. Just wish we knew when I reserved our table as I wouldn't have gone there in the first place for that. Will go back when they have their regular menu on, whenever that is.

Yelp
If you want a nice scenic place with unlimited food, you must try this place. The food isn't a ton of variety like your average buffet but had all the things you need to go back to the buffet bar for more. If seated outside, you get a nice scene of the beach as you dine and the food was pretty decent at that. I love that I was able to walk along the beach afterwards and soak in all the views with a happy tummy.

Yelp
The breakfast buffet at the Plumaria Cafe is a great way to enjoy nice breakfast with a view of the ocean. Whether you're seated on the upper leval or on the beach side, the ambience is awesome... peaceful and relaxing. The breakfast buffet ends at 11:30. Food wise there was a beef carving station next to the made to order omelet station, fruits, baked goods, smoked salmon, hot dishes like eggs Florentine, bacon, sausages, grilled fish, soup of the day and more. Really happy there was lilikoi juice-yum! Our server Mark (?) was just awesome! In fact, the service is first rate! Definitely a place to come for a special breakfast!

Yelp
For my mom (same as her dad/my grandpa), she loves going to nice places with nice views, a nice, clean environment, excellent service that enhances the occasion, and for an amazing experience. The food isn't that important. Well, for her birthday, I couldn't think of a better place than to take her to Kahala Hotel and Resort to dine at the Plumeria Beach House. It's located on the right side of the lobby. You'll need to take the stairs down. But there's an elevator past the stairs at the end of the walkway. There's no sign and it's somewhat hidden from view, but it's there... For my mom, Kahala Hotel is probably the marquee hotel, especially when it's where every US President stays in when visiting Oahu (pre-Obama), and any establishment within the hotel should provide the top notch service, quality food, clean environment, nice views, and memorable experience. Plumeria Beach House did have the nice views and environment with decent food. The service was not bad, but it was very basic, not very attentive, and just didn't make it feel like a special occasion. I noted it was my mom's birthday when I made the reservation. NO ONE mentioned it. Even without any mention of a special occasion, my meals at every other high-end restaurants or in high-end hotels always had excellent service. The menu is simple with a nice variety of proteins. We started with the Hamachi Roll. This was ok. Hamachi was decent thickness. Inside just had cucumber and avocado. The roll was very poorly wrapped though. It was loose and fell apart easily. This felt like something from a chain sushi place. No refinement, nothing that elevated this sushi roll. And no, the wasabi indented took look like a leaf isn't enough. The Caesar Salad was traditional. Fresh baby romaine, shaved Parmesan, crunchy croutons, and anchovy dressing. This was good. Nicely dressed and seasoned, and fresh, crisp lettuce. Where's my table side pepper mill service? lol. Too much? Hey, I could've asked for table side freshly shaved Parmesan! The Gratin of Big Island Abalone was less than ideal. The culprit that ruined this dish that should've been rich, delectable, and satisfying was the watery clump of bland, boiled spinach. I personally do not understand why spinach was used, why it had zero taste, and why there was so much of it. To compensate the small piece of abalone? Put a mushroom underneath or zucchini, or just something else that not watered down. Abalone was nice and tender, but the blandness was disappointing. I shouldn't be needing to use the leftover butter spread from the complimentary bread (which was good. Soft inside with a nice crust. Like a mini ciabatta) to make it better. Next was Broiled Misoyaki Butterfish. $39 is paying for it. A regular size piece that was pan fried well, flaky, and seasoned well. It sat on top of steamed baby bok choy and hamakua mushrooms. The accompanying pickled ginger beurre bland sauce was on the bland and buttery side. I couldn't taste the pickled ginger if it had any. It did not go well with the rich butterfish. If the sauce was more tangy to cut into the richness. Oh, and the rice was on the dry side. Not enough water. Kinda disappointing poorly preparing "premium" short grain rice. The North Shore Ludovico Farms Half Roasted Chicken seems to be all name (and no game? I don't know the saying if there is one!). This was on the dry and bland side. The meat wasn't as tender as I'd imagine, even the wing was difficult to eat. Skin wasn't crispy and underseasoned. But the taste of the chicken was clean. The accompanying mashed potatoes and gravy were delicious, and the green beans were fresh, crunchy, and well seasoned. Lastly was the Plumeria Beach House Pork Tonkatsu. $36, and no extra wording for the pork. This was probably the best dish of the evening. The pork was tender and well seasoned. Breaded and deep fried well. The tonkatsu sauce was flavorful and tart. The accompanying miso soup, however, was unacceptably SUPER, SUPER salty and incredibly strong. I just had one sip, and that was it, and my tastebuds favor salty. It was inexcusably bad. The regular white rice was too dry as well. Overall, it was an unexpectedly subpar meal and experience. Yes, environment and views were good, but the food was lackluster and poorly prepared. The service was very basic and not very attentive. I do expect a higher level of service and experience and more refinement on the food for a restaurant located in a five star resort hotel. Arancino gets it. What's going on here? Don't feel it's worth it for the higher prices.

Yelp
I brought my wife here to celebrate Mother's Day and really regret it. At $125 per person, I expected something special--but this was far from it. The snow crab and miso butterfish were both extremely salty, making them hard to enjoy. Flies were hovering around the sushi station, which was honestly gross. We even had to wait 15-20 minutes just to get a crab cracker, which made the whole experience feel frustrating and disorganized. Our server was barely around, and despite the lack of service, the tip suggestion was 20-22%, which felt completely undeserved. The only highlights of the entire meal were the prime rib and the fruit tart with caramel mousse--those were actually delicious. But not enough to justify the cost or the poor overall experience. Wouldn't come back or recommend.
