On the Grid : BBVA Compass Stadium

"Sporting the signature Houston Dynamo and Houston Dash orange, the BBVA Compass Stadium is just plain cool to look at, and even cooler to sit inside. Fierce soccer fans from all over come to fill the seats to watch their team play in the open-air. Don't worry it's not all soccer. Non-soccer (or fútbol) fans can also go to enjoy a show or two, or some good ol' American college football—namely the TSU Tigers." - Primer Grey

On the Grid : Dynamo Stadium

"The stadium had been a home for world famous Dynamo Kyiv football team until the club moved to Olimpiysky. It has seen a deathmatch during WWI when Luftwaffe officers squad was beaten by Dynamo players, that didn’t make the Nazis too happy. The square next to its entrance's colonnade saw bloody events in 2014, where the fist casualties of Revolution of Dignity came from." - DepositPhotos

I recently took my kids here for a Houston Dash game on Kids Day and the atmosphere did not disappoint! I’m so happy the games are offered on our Pogo Pass ! I paid $50 for the PogoPass and got in to the game free for me and my 3 daughters. Our seats were amazing! You have to get a PogoPass and go to the games offered here ! Use code “summerfun25” to get your pass for $50 today !! Thanks Shell Energy Stadiyfor such a warm welcome!!

Shell Energy Stadium is a modern and exciting place to watch sports and concerts in Houston. It opened in 2012 and is home to the Houston Dynamo FC, Houston Dash, and also hosts other events. The design of the stadium is unique, with an open-air feel and a great view from almost every seat. The location downtown makes it easy to reach, and the atmosphere on game days is full of energy and fun. The stadium has good food and drink options, though prices can be a bit high, and lines sometimes get long. Parking around the stadium can also be tricky, but there are several options nearby. The staff are helpful and friendly, and security is well organized. The energy from the fans makes every match an amazing experience. While a few things could be improved, overall it is a fantastic venue to enjoy soccer and live events. A must-visit spot for sports lovers in Houston.

We went for Kids Night and had a nice time with all the activities, mascot photos, and clean restrooms. Unfortunately, the food experience brought the visit down for me. At Urbe, I ordered the hamburger and was disappointed to see the patty reheated cold on the griddle the inside was still cool, and the cheese on top didn’t even melt. For $20 and carrying the Urbe name, I’m sure Chef Hugo would not approve of serving something like that. I ate most of it because I don’t like wasting food, but customers really shouldn’t be served a burger in that condition. On the flip side, they really focused on making the birria tacos nice and hot, which shows they can do it right. I just wish the same care went into my burger.

Fun experience. Very clean stadium. Restrooms very well maintained, thankfully. Parking was easy. Felt safe while there. Hope to be back!

I had never attended an event at Shell Energy Stadium before. Parking was available almost directly across from the entrance! Upon entering the stadium, you will note that by the unique design of the seating, there really are no "bad" seats. All seats have a great view of the field and give a sense of being closer to every event hosted here!

Perfect for all MLS fans. I purchased tickets for section 205A, row P, so it is midfield and one of the higher seats up, facing north. PRO’s: SEATING, looks like it was updated recently and is overall comfortable. I honestly don’t think there are any bad viewing points in this stadium, all points felt like they were able to see action easily and clearly even if you are in the sun a lot. Seating gets an easy 4/5 PRICING, seats were reasonably priced throughout with prices ranging from the super cheap (super hot/uncovered) spots to having an air conditioned room to yourself and super expensive. My tickets and my view were perfect at around $30 a ticket. Pricing gets a 5/5. PARKING, easy enough to get parking in B lot, I paid ahead of time, parking fee is a little pricey but better than leaving your car somewhere else potentially unprotected. And with lot B being so close to the stadium it was nice to be able to just go right to the car and go home safely. Money well spent for me. Parking gets 4.5/5 FAN STORE, lots to select from to be a properly kitted out fan, all priced at would you would expect for an in stadium store. Fan Store gets a 5/5. FAN CLUB, I didn’t get to utilize it this time with my children in tow, but they offer a club/bar area that looked like a great pre-game and during game place to be. I won’t rate this as I didn’t use this feature but I consider it a win to see it there. EXPERIENCE, alright fan energy, okay DJ, safe environment, fun times. No complaints really here. Experience is 4/5 CON’s: SEATING, unless you’re watching a game at high noon, the north facing covered seats are gonna be receiving just as much sun as the east and west facing seats. Eventually the sun hides behind the skyscrapers, but it’s hot until it does. the overhang essentially is there for rain it seems, which in essence is still a win. Seating still gets a 4/5. SNACK/DRINK PRICING, I always expect to spend a lot when going to games, but I was not expecting to get a water bottle, can of beer, a small box of skittles, and three bottles of soda for $68, essentially spending $11 an item. And I was asked to tip on top of that, when it was a self-serve station. Snack/drink pricing gets a 3.5/5. BATHROOMS, I’m sorry but it’s gotta be said, the bathrooms hit you in the face with a thick warm wall of pee smell. I was one of the first people to use the freshly “cleaned” space upon opening the stadium and I was choked out and held my breath while attending to my business. This was the case for other bathrooms around the stadium as well. The bathrooms get a 0/5. OVERALL, I will be coming back. I had fun. I will be glad to support the Dynamo and look forward to seeing how they grow as a team and franchise while attending their nice stadium.

It's a nice stadium equipped with multiple snack areas, drink carts and bathrooms. The line to enter was backed up, not sure how that could be more efficient, but overall, it was nice experience and looks like even the seats higher up had a great view. I look forward to returning.

Yelp
Easy in and out. Excellent seats. Some of the best food for a stadium in the city honestly. Small businesses that are local to Houston and super tasty which is a bonus.

Yelp
This stadium is bigger than some people think. You could say it has that Big Shell Energy. So we like to come and relax at one of the most beautiful MLS and Women's Soccer stadiums in the country. It's gorgeous, it just gets very hot in the summer, but that's Houston and it's part of the charm. Cheap tickets, beautiful surroundings, amazing atmosphere, best fans in the league, not usually sold out (sadly, blame SeatGeek), but get ready to sweat! My old review said: One of the best stadiums in MLS, I'd argue, and the weather here is always wonderful. It's also perfectly located in a sadly gentrified neighbourhood, right next to downtown Houston in EaDo, and really adds to its surroundings, and is nothing short of beautiful inside and out. Would not be out of place as a European Stadium, and is truly magnificent. My other review of this stadium said: Not to be confused with BDSM Stadium, which is something very different, more adult, more painful, more restrictive, for the sub anway. Moving on. Houston has a pretty amazing soccer stadium just to the east of downtown and it's beautiful and perfect for what it does, one of the better ones I've been to. I'd downgrade for the insane cost of everything (a beer is 10 to 20 dollars, yes I'm serious), but then every stadium is like that these days... they should GTFO really. But for the stadium itself.... wow. It's a shame they didn't have the stadium during the days when they were winning everything, this would have been perfect for that, but hopefully one day they will be winning everything again with this great stadium, that is like the Reliant Stadium/NRG Stadium of soccer.. it's amazing. As for the team, it's home to the Houston Dynamo. Not to be confused with a murder plot against an orange-white Clownfish in America's 4th largest city (Houston Die-Nemo). Houston is one of the classic teams in the league, even though they secretly stole San Jose away from San Jose, and changed the Earthquake name to Dynamo, to reflect the industrial energy nature of the Houston economy. I'm a fan of a team and I think they do a good job, and are a main fixture in the sports scene of the city, which isn't really much of a sports city to be honest, and none of the Rockets/Astros/Texans get an immense amount of love compared to other regions, and the Dynamo holds its own to some degree. It had some great success in the past and long may that continue. They need to get back on the wagon and be a top team, and I hope they can get the support they deserve to go with their amazing stadium close to downtown. And yeah this stadium gets hot AF in summer, but it's all good.

Yelp
This is a nice stadium. Every seat is a great seat. Free Wi-Fi to guests and so many food options. I'm excited to go to a Dynamo/Dash game this year. New this year- 10 restaurants inside the stadium. Urbe - Section 122 Hugo's - Section 115 Trill Burgers - Section 130 Taqueria Arandas - Section 134 Roegels Barbecue - Section 111 and 121 Roostar Vietnamese Grill - Section 139 Churrascos - Section 120 Williams Smokehouse BBQ and Blues - Section 130 Elotes Bravos - Section 137 Vinny's Pizza - Section 107 Let's goaaaaaaaaaalllllll!

Yelp
Don't go unless you want a Houston dynamo fan to jump you. Whether they win or lose they are always looking to hurt the Austin fc fans. This is the third year in a row an incident takes places after the game due to Houston dynamo fans not knowing how to act as a normal human being and accept the L or enjoy the rest of their night.
