Stopped in with my mom while we were in the area and WOW! I will definitely be taking this way home from Lafayette more often. She got the pork roast, rice dressing, corn & yams. DELICIOUS! I got corn grits. Even being re-heated, they were the best I’ve ever eaten. We both got meat from their meat and I can’t wait to try it. We will definitely be back to try out the restaurant!

Google
This place is amazing!! Best potato salad I've ever eaten😁. Food was great, fast service, we will definitely be going back!

Google
These were supposed to be pepper jack boudin balls. They weren't by a long shot. They were burnt. They were dry. They were small. There was no meat inside, barely any rice. And this is def not pepper jack cheese. I loove boudin. And this area (337) usually has the best. I was so disgusted and disappointed. Upon arrival we thought the food would be really good because of all the cars outside. We were wrong. The staff really wasn't friendly and the entire atmosphere just felt "tense". Never again! We'll stick to Billy's or Kartchner's when visiting the 337 area

Really good Cajun food, enjoyed the crawfish rice. And it was open also during the 4th of July!

Google
Visiting from New Orleans, and this was hands down, one of the best meals I’ve ever had. The crawfish étouffée reminded me of the kind I’ve been raised on, and I’ve never tasted anything so similar until now. The corn grits also blew me away. I’ll be back.

Google
Very good food. We always stop here when traveling that way. The hood food is so delicious. There are very good food in the refrigerator and frozen sections. I love the fried cabbage and Crab pasta along with the frozen shrimp Creole and frozen crawfish cereal.

Google
This is a modest location with great food and excellent, helpful staff. The bathroom facility was very refreshingly clean and appropriately supplied with soap, paper towels. I tried the boudin balls, shrimp, and fries. It was delicious. The coleslaw is an excellent side dish. This little place was worth getting off the interstate for. But the friendly staff made it a fun and pleasurable rest stop from traveling.

06/29/2025-Well, this is the SECOND TIME we have picked up plate lunches and NO MEAT! Have to drive back at lease 6 miles to go get new plate lunches. Even calling and talking with the mgr's does not do any good to improve their staff's service. This time Ms. Mattie told me they have camera's set up through out the place, but obviously it is not to pay attention to their staff's work. They are TOO DISTRACTED TO PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT THEY ARE SERVING IN EACH PLATE LUNCH! She even admitted that a few of them have only been working 1 month. To me, that is not an excuse, if they are not trained properly and supervised regularly they will amount to always making mistakes. My husband was told that they had run out of cooked chicken and were waiting to put the meat when it was cooked. How hard could it be to not close the lunch container UNTIL EVERYTHING IS IN IT, REALLY! Or set them ASIDE UNTIL THEY HAVE EVERYTHING? So, if you go to "PICK UP" plate lunch(s), open them at the counter where you pay so you can check to make sure it is what you ordered and that everything is in it.

Yelp
Poche's is great. When most outsiders think of Louisiana food, they think of New Orleans as having the state's top cuisine. They're wrong. Cajun country is where you need to go if you want the best food on earth. Sure, I may be partial because I'm from Louisiana but test my theory for yourself. Poche's is part Cajun meat market and part plate lunch restaurant. There are many of these styles of places throughout Acadiana. They're almost all great. Poche's definitely falls into the great category. The menu is simple. Each day (even Sunday) has a set group of specials and sides that you choose form. Saturday had everything from pork backbone stew to bbq ribeye. Each comes with two sides, some sort of rice, and a small roll. For the price, the amount of food is substantial. It's also wonderful. I decided to try the bbq ribeye today with double green beans. Was it the best ribeye I've ever had? No. Was it the best plate of food I've had in a while. Yes. All for $21.50. I think I'll go back and get some of their Cajun seasoning later today. It's $6.95 for a gigantic container. You can't beat that. If you're anywhere near Breaux Bridge, get yourself to Poche's for lunch.

Yelp
The food is really good. They have a great deal of options to choose from. Southern hospitality and the vibe is very homey.

Yelp
We stopped on the way home to Texas from Florida. It's off the beaten path but not too far from I-10 and definitely worth the trip. The jambalaya was exquisite, absolutely delicious. The potato salad is some of the best I've ever had, and this is from a guy who grew up eating it homemade. I have to admit it is better than Mom's . Greens beans fresh and seasoned well. I bought some gumbo and boudin to take home. I still have the gumbo but ate the boudin, it was so good, just the right balance of seasoning. I will go there again this summer when traveling to Florida again. If I lived there I would eat at Poche's every chance I got!!

Yelp
No day-trip from New Orleans to Lafayette would be complete without a stop in Breaux Bridge to fill up our ice chest with Poché's delicious meats and fish products. The daily combo special was FANTASTIC!!! The service could not have been any better anywhere.
google avatar

Keith S.

Yelp
Excellent food friendly atmosphere. Also had goodies for cooking like Tasso, sausage, and seasonings

Yelp
Amazing Cajun food and awesome market not too far off of I10 crawfish etouffee was amazing
google avatar

Walter M.

Yelp
This was a pleasant surprise. Everything was delicious, but the rice dressing had me hooked. The staff was friendly. There are definitely tourists here, but it was also full of locals getting their lunch. We went back here. a few times during our stay.
google avatar

Amy C.

Yelp
We stopped in on the way home from New Orleans and knew by the faces coming out we picked the right spot! Exactly what we were looking for! The crawfish etouffee was to die for! We also got the fried fish- I am very picky about my fried fish, AMAZING!! I wish we would have brought more home with us! We will be back!

Yelp
Plate lunches are really good. My company orders from here very frequently. Everything is always good.

Yelp
Food was fresh and generous. This was hard to find but glad to have found it. Ambiance is local meat market with dining room in back with deli style choices of thr day.
google avatar

Janell C.

Yelp
Fabulous food, the nicest folks, and huge portions. The hot sauce is so good we bought several bottles. Can't wait for our next visit!
google avatar

Tiffany B.

Yelp
The BEST boudin. Loved all the Louisiana decor. There has never been a disappointing dish from them. We always stop when we drive through.
google avatar

Alex B.

Yelp
Well worth the trip off the freeway. Tasty, and a real deal "Cajun" experience. Thought the catfish was a real standout, and their house hot sauce is amazing
google avatar

Tammie S.

Yelp
Been here several times to grab odds and ends (rice, crackers, drinks, meat to grill, etc.) Tried the deli food this time- smothered rabbit, green bean casserole, and smothered potatoes. Oh and a coconut sweet dough pie. Sooooo good. Everyone is always so nice when we go in. Might actually dine in next time.

Yelp
I religiously make trips here to stock up on all my favorite Cajun and Creole ingredients. This place is all business and provides excellent service and the perfect selection to satisfy. When you visit, and if you drive by, you're doing yourself a great disservice, stay and have an awesome meal served up fresh! The atmosphere is exactly what you expect at an authentic Cajun restaurant too... 10 Stars if I could.

Elifonso G.

Yelp
Poches is a stop we always look forward too. Food always good or may I say excellent. Variety of choices and plenty that we always have a to go box. I love everything about this hole in the wall place...

Liz M.

Yelp
Awesome little place with home cooked food. I would definitely go again. I enjoyed the stuff I purchased.
google avatar

Yelp
I've been visiting this place since a little girl whenever we come to town. Nothing has changed I'm still coming here. Family environment, clean with some delicious food. It's a lot of food. Be prepared to take home leftovers
google avatar

Ken B.

Yelp
The food was delicious as usual. I try to swing by every time I'm near Breaux Bridge!

Yelp
Awesome food. Bursting with flavor, very authentic. The service is really good and fast.

Yelp
What can I add that hasn't already been said? Service is certainly great. Food is fresh, seasoned perfectly shrimp and fries. Clean place to dine in or take food to-go. Great counter service. I was offered 2-3 food suggestions as a first time visitor to Poche's. The fried catfish and shrimp seafood comb was suggested along with their crawfish options. There are daily lunch specials. To curb any disagreement, take note of the items based on the day. Mini Pie choices range from pineapple, pecan, coconut, sweet potato, blueberry, on and on. My BFF faves on their pecan pie. With that alone, give it a try. She once lived in this area and drives here often to purchase their pecan pie, dirty rice, green bean casserole, fried shrimp, crawfish pasta, boudin, and BBQ smoked chicken (no sauce). She highly recommend calling Poche's for catering.
google avatar

Robin B.

Yelp
You want some good down home southern Louisiana cooking this is definitely one of the places to go. I absolutely love the food. And highly recommend them for that. Also, now, behind this restaurant and store, is a kayak launch on the Teche. How cool is that?

Yelp
Stumbled onto this place because of a random search of the area on G maps. After eating, I know it was meant to be! It's a market. It's a grocery. It's a restaurant. It's a plate lunch place. We got there maybe an hour after opening and there was a line ten deep and people steadily coming in. No matter, it went fast. That day they had shrimp etouffee, rice dressing, pork steaks, half smoked chickens, fried catfish, cole slaw, potato salad, rolls, and I think mashed potatoes. After agonizing over what to get, I chose the etouffee and dressing with a cup of potato salad to try. My girlfriend got the catfish and french fries. OMG! . The young lady serving was SO generous with the portions and acted like it was what they do every day! I mean she crammed the rice in the regular size clamshell takeout container, covering up the whole bottom. Then she ladled and ladled and ladled shrimp etouffee all over that. Then she topped it with a dinner roll and put her weight on it to close the lid! I was in heaven, especially after I started eating! Needless to say I will be back. Only sad I live 600 miles away or would be a daily customer. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Well I'm not a fan. Starch, starch and more starch. Not the first green option on the entire line. Pasta, rice, potatoes, fried pork chop, fried chicken, roast n gravy. Potato salad. Bread. Not a Heathy choice in the bunch. Meat market looked interesting but I passed. A lot of physical laborers there eating. Bulking up I guess. Not going back.
google avatar

Yelp
I had just pulled out of Breaux Bridge and was looking to grab a quick bite, and Poche's came up as a possible spot. Thinking that a small town grocery in the middle of Acadiana wouldn't let me down, I headed on over. I'm glad I did! Poche's is part grocery, part restaurant, and part love. The selection of comfort food was unbeatable, the service was friendly, and my crawfish étouffée was sublime.
google avatar

Justin M.

Yelp
Boudin is good a tad too salty for my taste but still good probably cause I'm tired of same places for boudin. The crawfish boudin is all rice and no good can't seem to find a place that can make good crawfish boudin. Cracklin are bad too, just turns into chalk when chewing. The ettouffee had to try cause small town has to have it good and it is good. Could tel when I looked at it. Why don't you put that in your boudin?? The cheese corn grits are delicious. Dirty rice has no flavor. Fried shrimp is not that good either.. So really maybe a 3 star thing. Their meats looked good might have to try that next time.
google avatar

Brigid P.

Yelp
Good lord! That is some Cajun, stick to your ribs, down home cooking! Specials everyday and everyone was so nice and it was super clean. I got the smothered beef with mashed potatoes and peas. The beef tasted like a spicy stew meat and mashed potatoes were so buttery with the best country style peas I've ever had! Finished off with a blackberry pie. The crust tastes more like a soft cookie. Delicious! This is now a must stop on the drive to New Orleans.

Cindy W.

Yelp
Love the market! Bought my Thanksgiving sides here this year, Rice Dressing was good, after we added some chicken broth and put it in the oven for 20 minutes. Crawfish Dressing, was great, had to put this in the oven too. Corn Mach Choux was out of this world good, just microwave for this one! Expect to stand in a line, Poche's is popular! On this trip we ate from the restaurant and it was great! They didn't have fried fish on this day, but they offered to fry some for me, and it was very good. We will be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Wow! This place is great! Every one of our party of 6 loved their lunches!! Portions are huge, gumbo delicious and people super nice. AND it's clean!!!

Yelp
Poche's has been around for a long time. It is a combination counter service restaurant, cajun meat market and small grocery store. They are open 7 days a week and serve lunch and dinner. You can call their telephone number for an automated notice of what they are serving each day. The meals offered for lunch are usually between 4-6 meat entrees with veggies too. You select your meal cafeteria style directing the staff what to put on your plate. Cost is usually around the $10-12 range unless you opt for the crawfish étouffée for around $15. Portions sizes are large and the food here is very good in taste. They have a large dining room for seating along with a self serve drink station. The meat market offers various red meats (beef, pork and chicken) with many having cajun infused seasonings and stuffings. They also sell pre made cajun flavored vegetables along with frozen seafood gumbos and étouffées too. Prices are reasonable. My favorite is their 32 oz. frozen tub of chicken and sausage gumbo for just $6.50. Delicious and very affordable to bring back home. They even sell styrofoam ice chests to transport your purchases if needed. Parking space is plentiful here. Yelp location is accurate as it's located just 5 minutes from I-10. Come here to get your cajun/creole fix by eating here and then buying more items to take back home! It is a must stop for me when I'm passing through.

Yelp
The number of locals lining up for a plate lunch is a sure sign of how good this place is! We actually just stopped in at the recommendation of our Airbnb host to stock up on boudin. We ordered regular and seafood boudin to go. Then also picked up some frozen sausage and boudin. The boudin is delicious! Next time we'll go for lunch.
google avatar

Mo J.

Yelp
Outstanding country Cajun cooking, no frills - but, fun - experience! Étouffée is one of the best. Pralines are the best. Backbone stew, smothered "anything", rice dressing, are all really good. One plate lunch is easily a delicious meal for two. Highly recommended!
google avatar

Joe T.

Yelp
If you like a soft textured boudin with a pronounced liver flavor, this is the one. Nice, dark color and Not too heavy on the spices, but enough to add good flavor. I'm not a big fan of the soft texture, but otherwise this is pretty good boudin.
google avatar

Elizabeth D.

Yelp
The best BBQ around town! They are always quick and the food is amazing! The atmosphere is amazing also.

Cathy B.

Yelp
Boudin balls are yummy. Pecan pie is too! You can get lots of local meats and delicacies. All good!

Yelp
My husband and I just moved to the Breaux Bridge, LA area, and although we both fancy ourselves as "foodies," we continue to be amazed and impressed at the restaurants - and now THE market (Poche's, that is) - that are in this beautiful South Louisiana town. I do not believe I have ever been anywhere with such an incredible fresh (refrigerated) meat selection, as well as frozen ... and everything any carnivore's heart could possibly desire. But we not only bought meat to take home, we could not leave there without eating some boudin in their restaurant. Personally, I have never been a huge fan of boudin; my husband is. This is the first I have ever had that actually made me want MORE. We had their regular pork boudin, as well as their seafood (or maybe it was crawfish?) boudin while we were there, and it was so incredibly good that we: a. bought more to take home to cook with/for friends, and b. asked the people there exactly how to prepare it - which they kindly told us in detail. (The staff we met were Zane, Kallie, and Ava ... all so genuinely nice, friendly, and helpful.) I just cannot say enough about this place. I suspect we will not buy meat of any variety anywhere else as long as we are in driving distance of Poche's. And we certainly intend, over time, to try out the many, many items they carry which we have never had before! It is like a candy store for meat-lovers!
google avatar

JoAnn M.

Yelp
Omg, the food was SO good. My friend had crawfish etoufee, and I had smothered steak. Both were super delicious, but I was blown away by the gravy on the smothered steak. We both got enough for two meals. I finished my leftovers today, and my meal was just as good today as yesterday. I also bought a small sweet crust sweet potato pie and a huge praline. They were also delicious. I loved the market. I stocked up on my beloved Cajun Power Garlic Sauce (I can't get it in my area).
google avatar

Tami S.

Yelp
Quick stop off I-10. 2 ways to order-the longer line & pick your items or go on the side where the kitchen is and place your to go order. Area to eat inside & outside and it's packed with a line of locals. Also a small supermarket where you can buy fresh and frozen a fun meats and sides. I had the crawfish etouffee & fried shrimp. Shrimp were great! Etouffee was wonderful and I generally don't like it but choose it based on reviews and happy I did.
google avatar

Kathleen J.

Yelp
We went on Saturday and ate the plate lunch dinners. We decided to get steaks and pre-prepared chicken for grilling later on the weekend and some sides to go with it. We also got some boudin and cracklings for later. The staff were friendly and helpful. The plate lunch portions were HUGE and enough for two to three meals. My husband got the steak and two sides. His steak was cooked well and was tender. I got the stuffed pork chop. It tasted good, though one side was a bit tough and dry. Way too much food to eat at one meal, especially for the reasonable prices. You can get your food to go or eat in there. The quality of their cook it yourself food was very good, and they grilled up nicely. The sides we purchased were delicious as well (baked beans and potatoes). The boudin and cracklings were also good. We enjoyed it, and will go back when we are in the area!

April W.

Yelp
We went out of our way to get 'world famous' cracklins'. I've been buying cracklins' for nearly 50 years and I must tell you they were the worst we've ever tried to eat. I say tried because we couldn't eat them. They were so rancid, if we would have eaten them, we'd be sick. After two bites we said 'NO'! Too bad we were on the road and couldn't go back by the time we ate them. These suckers cost us over $20, just to throw them in the trash. I'm leaving a photo of our receipt to prove we went there. .
google avatar

Paul S.

Yelp
We headed to MD Anderson and wanted to have some real country Cajun food. You didn't disappoint! Thank you and your staff !
google avatar

Matt L.

Yelp
Simple, unpretentious, and delicious. To drive by, this place looks like a mini-mart, but inside a feast awaits. I went on a Sunday, when I think the big focus is on bbq and fried meats. The lady in front of me was ordering chicken, for example. But I didn't drive all this way for fried chicken--only crawfish would do! The crawfish etouffee didn't look like much as the worker was scooping it out of the hot tray. Once I sat down and cracked it open, though--shazam! This etouffee is the first one I've eaten that did not require extra hot sauce. If you don't like spice, maybe jog on. I love spice, and I was fine. But if you like bland, this is not it. I started with a fork but went and got a spoon so I could get every last bit of it. Still unsatisfied, I then sopped up the remainder with my roll. The baked beans were tasty if quite sweet and maybe cheating with extra sugar. The coleslaw was pretty standard and didn't rock my world. This etouffee is amazing and I'd gladly eat it again!

Angela B.

Yelp
Food is amazing and so is staff!! Boudin is awesome...definitely recommend to anyone! Seafood boudin is excellent
google avatar

Cheri Y.

Yelp
Can this place get any better?! Hubby & I wanted to get our Cajun on so we drove over for Sunday Dinner: Catfish, shrimp & Étouffée with dirty rice & Cole slaw/potato salad. OMG! It was so unbelievably good we ate the whole thing & almost had to call the fire department to pull our fatty selves out with the bloody lift! I been eating carrot sticks ever since lol Growing up round these here parts, I remember this place always being great down home badass coonass but I swear it's gotten better. We took food to go for my brother but it never made it to his house. Oops. Lol The products in the market have gotten better too. I picked up in house butchered meats, house made boudin, local Mayhaw jelly & organic pecan oil this time. Yay! :)) I will say it again, no review of this place will do it justice, it's just a small Cajun cafe right in the middle of BFE Crawfish country. But that is what makes it so special. All local ingredients, the freshest butchered in-house meats & seafoods, handmade on site by local Cajuns. Étouffée is the best! Moi hometown favorite ;) Highly recommend.
google avatar

Carolyn L.

Yelp
Relaxed place to get good food . Plate lunches are good . I'm not a fan of the boudin . Also they have fresh meats and sides you can purchase . Good Cajun place
google avatar

Sean F.

Yelp
Found this place on Yelp, and glad I did. Off the beaten path but well worth the trip. Big with the locals, true Cajun food served cafeteria style. Best gumbo I ever had! Restaurant is clean and welcoming, people are nice and helpful. Also has a market with a wide selection of fresh and frozen Cajun specialties and seasonings. Parking for large vehicles available.
google avatar

Aisha O.

Yelp
Are usually go to Poche is on Sundays after church. Most of the time there is a line of people waiting for their plate lunches. L O L. The food is good and you get quite a bit. Usually I have enough to make two servings. The pork steak, and sausage is really good. Not the fanciest place to sit down and eat but it will do, and sausage is really good. Not the fanciest place to sit down and eat but it will do..

Alan P.

Yelp
It is a fun place to visit, the prices are really good, the service was perfectly fine. And looking at all the different foods just made us want to keep coming back for more.
