My favorite meal in Chamonix: this is a ski-town joint, no white linens to be seen, just greasy and delicious calories to replace what you burned on the slopes. We had dinner pretty early, and I'm glad we did since there are only about 20 seats in the place, all in a narrow hallway upstairs. Order at the bar (food and beer), then take your beer (you didn't order one? why not? get the Kronenbourg!) upstairs and grab or stalk a table. Camp out until your food arrives, then inhale it.
The bread is a great little roll, similar to a what you would call a kaiser roll in the US, but better than what you'd get in the US because the French don't f-around when it comes to bread. they take that stuff seriously. Each burger comes with a couple little patties rather than one big one, and there's no "how would you like your burger cooked?" They'll cook them the way they want and you'll like it. It's not an overly greasy patty, but it was moist enough, and combined with everything else it works just fine. Your burger is going to come with fries stuff in it (and surrounding it, no need for a side order here), unless you get the hash brown burger, which has hash browned potatoes in it instead of fries. Also freaking delicious. Either way, can't go wrong with the Poco Loco Burger.
My only regret is that I didn't save room for crepes; theirs looked fantastic as we rolled our bloated bellies out the door afterwards.
Don't be a fool, if you've been skiing or hiking all day get some poco loco, you've earned it.
