Pod Camps Bay

"Where is this hotel, and what does it look like?Just off the main Camps Bay beachfront strip is this hip, 17-room boutique hotel run on green architectural principles (it even has its own water supply, for example). From the road, you enter a starkly modern architectural space through an automated glass door. A minimalist indoor-outdoor cocktail bar and lounge leads to a lap pool and terrace with a sea view. Zen-calm, the dining space provides a cool, tranquil counterpoint to the sunshine glare. Books, board games, bean bags, organically shaped solid wood tables and a Smart TV give the lounge a lived-in, rumpus room feeling. Tell us about the other guests; who are they?Sunseekers, either lounging by the pool or heading down to the beach. Mostly European. How was check-in?Seamless check-in by friendly staff. The 17 rooms are compact and therefore highly functional spaces. Speaking of rooms: Give us the details. My room was street-facing with a partial sea view from the small balcony. Natural wood and raw slate add warmth to an otherwise functional, uncluttered space. The design is open-plan to further maximize space, which means from the very comfortable king bed you can see the walk-in double rain shower and large bath tub (but not the separate loo, behind frosted glass). There’s underfloor heating for winter, AC for summer, plus TV, DVD player, Nespresso machine, iPod docking station, and complimentary minibar. Mini mountain-facing rooms are ideal if location (proximity to the beach) counts for more than space and a sliver of a view of Lion’s Head is good enough. Three of the luxury rooms have private plunge pools, and partial sea views. Anything else you'd like to call out?I loved the striped beach bag stocked with sunscreen lotion, towels and beach bats, and the selection of complimentary digital newspapers and magazines available to download. Rates include a fully stocked mini bar, unlimited tea, coffee and mineral water, free wifi, and use of a fully equipped gym in the basement. Choose a movie and get complimentary room-service delivery of popcorn and other snacks. There is a lap pool and sea-view cocktail bar, and secure underground parking. Perfect. How about the on-site dining? Worth it?A generous breakfast is included in the rate—buffet style fresh fruits, cheeses and cold cuts, pastries, fresh smoothies, top-quality tea and coffee, followed by a cooked breakfast. For other meals, there are plenty of cafes, restaurants and tapas bars within walking distance along the Camps Bay seafront. Ask the staff for insider recommendations, or order take-outs and staff will serve it in the dining room. Order a picnic to be sent down to the beach, along with a beach umbrella and chairs. Honestly, nothing beats a buffet-style breakfast—especially a fresh one. Tell us something about your experience there that really stood out to you.Nobody minded when we arrived with sandy feet after a day on the beach with take-out pizza from a nearby restaurant. The manager set up a table so that we could enjoy the last of the setting sun, and opened a bottle of wine. Bottom line: worth it, and why?As a conveniently located bolthole, set back from the busy Camps Bay beachfront without missing out on the cool vibe and ocean views, especially if you don’t want to hire a car. Everything is within walking distance, and you’re on the bus route into the city and to the Waterfront." - Jane Broughton

We completely fell in love with the hotel and enjoyed every single detail. The room was absolutely stunning , spacious, beautifully designed, and pure luxury. Waking up to the ocean view and sound of the waves was just magical.||The breakfast was delicious, varied, and healthy , exactly what we love. The pool area is a dream, and the new sunbeds are incredibly comfortable. Every part of our stay felt thoughtful and relaxed.||The service was warm, attentive, and top-notch from start to finish. POD is truly a gem, and we wouldn’t hesitate to rate it a 10 out of 10. Can’t wait to return!

What an amazing experience at Pod Camps Bay in Cape Town! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the friendly and attentive staff. We arrived a bit too early, but it was no problem at all. They immediately invited us for a delicious breakfast, which was such a wonderful surprise! The breakfast was absolutely fantastic – everything was fresh and flavorful, the perfect start to our day. The room was beautiful and very comfortable, making our stay even more enjoyable. Plus, the location is perfect – we were within walking distance of the beach. The hospitality of the team made our stay truly special. We had an amazing time at POD, from the beds to the double headed shower (we loved this) and the views at Camps Bay. Everything was incredible. We stayed 1 night but wished we stayed longer. The staff was also excellent. Definitely recommend staying here!

Fantastic stay at POD Camps Bay. All members of the team are very friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble - they arranged tours for us at the last minute and were very helpful. ||Our room was spacious, modern and very clean and we had a very comfortable stay. ||Walking distance to the beaches and the Camps Bay strip where there is a lot of choice for food and drinks. ||Special mention to Concy who was very welcoming and recommended a tour guide called Nick for our hike up Table Mountain. Nick was excellent - we did the India Venster trail which was brilliant. Nick was so knowledgeable and took some amazing pictures of us during the hike. We stopped for tea/coffee at a great spot on the trail - the views were spectacular. ||Thank you to everyone at POD for an unforgettable stay.

If you are scrolling through reviews and you have been noodling back & forth on where to stay while visiting camps bay/Cape Town- this is the review you are wanting to read to rest assure you: this hotel is amazing. We were visiting for my friends wedding and weeks prior, I went through the reviews myself and so many call out how awesome this hotel’s location, service, and overall experience. They are not wrong. This hotel has the best location, up a bit from the loudness of camps bay scene, but close enough to walk to the restaurants during the day and it is right across the street from the beach, which you also get stunning views of the Atlantic, along with table top mountain! The service is what you feel throughout your stay. The welcome greeting when you walk into the hotel to the stunning decor to your room, and the continuous upkeep of your room needs is felt throughout the stay. Concy, Camiil, Rennia, Alice, Sean, Brent and the entire staff - what a team. We felt like VIP the entire time we stayed. Along with tranquility, from the architecture aesthetics throughout and the gentle trickling water is soothing if you take your breakfast under their outdoor awning. The kitchen makes delicious food, from Breakfast shakshuka to the lunch venison burger - phenomenal. The breakfast layout each morning was yummy salmon, fresh squeezed juices and fruit, along w a stacked POD breakfast menu of breakfast mains. We stayed for 4 nights, 5 days - we booked the room with the private pool. I originally was indecisive because the deluxe suite had the views but the private (heated) pool is sooo lovely. There is a stocked complimentary minibar that had nice selection of wine/beer and soda, along with daily still and sparking waters. One thing I had wished we taken advantage of is the masseuse on site. Ubers r easy to drop off/pick up and the location is a quick 10min drive to Victoria & Alfred wharf. It really is a great location! Overall, the price is worth the stay. I cannot say anything less about this incredible hotel - it was simply the best. ♥️ They did read my notes - wished me and my husband a happy anniversary and did this beautiful rose petal w champagne display - it was just lovely. Thank you POD, for giving us this 5-star experience that will last in our memories for many many years!!

I have spent 4 days with my husband in this beautiful boutique hotel at few meters of camp bay beach . What a dream ! The hotel is pretty, has a beautiful view and a perfect location but is especially remarkable for the excellence of its service . The hotel staff effectiveness and kindness really amazed me and made this stay special ! Thank you to the entire team but especially to Caamil and Concy at the restaurant /bar and Sean at the front desk . We really felt in a home away from home !

One of the worst stays. The room is tiny, the toilet is not separated from the bed area, so you have no privacy at all if you stay as a couple. No soundproof between the rooms, and your balcony points at a busy street, so every vehicle passing you feel like passes on your head. And on top of that - the ventilation for the room and for the kitchen is one system, so you wake up all smelling like one burnt piece if bacon. Worst value for money experience in my life.
