Short distance from Olsztyn Zachodni station, the old town and restaurants etc. The hotel is old wooden decor inside and impressive entrance area and stairs. Very friendly receptionist. Had a takeaway breakfast bag as left very early. Good value for the price paid.||Room was generally OK. Bottled water, TV, plenty of storage space. Bathroom was OK.||Bed was a little uncomfortable. WiFi wasn't very good.

+Free parking (if you get a place) is on premises. Location is more or less central||||- Breakfast was just passable. The room had few problems. There is no air-conditioner in all but one suit under the roof and it is a small movable unit. But this suit is huge, for 4 or more people and I doubt that in hot weather it will help. Besides, you have to climb steep steps which was out of question for one of us. So we took one in first (not ground) floor. It was very hot and if you open the window, all street noise come in. At 4 am they start cleaning streets. And the paper blinds let in all the light. The shower doors were broken, so the cleaners did not bother to clean the shower. And all equipment is "tired" to say the least

This is a gorgeous little historic hotel/B&B in a wonderful location – across from one park, surrounded by another, and beneath ('pod') a castle ('zamkiem').||The smallness of my (single+ensuite) room was offset by the very large windows that overlooked the beautiful park.||||Everything was in walking distance. ||Staff were lovely and helpful.||Breakfast was plentiful and delicious.||||Highly recommend. Great value, clean, comfortable and lovely.

As a solo traveller I was doubting if I should book a hotel or a hostel. When I saw Hotel Pod Zamkiem, I knew I should give this hotel a try! And I'm happy I choose for this hotel because my stay was excellent! It all starts with writing an email about the directions from the main train station. Very helpful and polite to give advise about the buses. The hotel itself is located in a very old building and the whole building has this 'old' style. It's adorable. Of course, it looks a little bit out-dated but that's the style of this hotel. I booked a room for 1 person and was happy when I found out that it was actually a 2 personsroom with 2 beds, a small desk and 2 chairs. Keep in mind that the front of the hotel is near a busy road so ask for a room on the back or take earplugs with you, just in case. It is an old building ;) I have stayed here 2 nights and although there was a concert at the castle, I sleep very well. The shower looks renovated and is clean (although the shower is not that strong but hey, you have at least a warm shower). There is also a place where you can sit and relax on the first floor. There is a computer for internet but the WiFi works well. The breakfast is served every morning from 7:00 till 10:30. They will ask is you want scrambled eggs. It's delicious! You have to leave the key at the reception every time when you leave but there is 24-hours reception. And they know who you are, I didn't need to ask for my room number. Last but not least: The location is excellent. The castle is around the corner, you can walk along the Lysna river. You can even walk to the big lake of Olsztyn. If you come by train, consider to leave at Olsztyn Zachodi. It's 10 minutes walk only. The hotel has a parking place.

Though listed here as a B&B, this is clearly a small hotel; and now, I believe, the most attractive place to stay in Olsztyn: a remodeled 100-year-old villa (once the home of a wealthy industrialist) surrounded by a park, directly below an imposing Teutonic Knights' castle and a short walk to the small but nicely restored and attractive historic center of what used to be known as Allenstein. In short, I liked everything about this hotel: the setting, friendly staff, charming interior, convenient free parking, and the very reasonable price.

Wonderful old building, clean, nice personnel, good breakfast. I liked it very much and when I'll go to Olsztyn again, I will stay here for sure. Later update: i was there 2 more times. Beware, if you send them email, their answer will be at the end of the reply-email, not at top, as you would expect :)

This hotel looks pretty impressive on the web however.. It has an odor of an old cheap motel.. The smell of mildew and old linens makes it impossible to have a good night's sleep. Wifi barely works. Rooms are tiny and very uncomfortable to move around.. Do not recommend.
