Point Judith Lighthouse

We love to visit lighthouses whenever we travel. The pros of this one are that the scenery is breathtaking, amd there's a lovely memorial area with benches to sit and watch the ocean. The biggest con is that you can't actually go to the lighthouse. I read reviews before we went, and I don't recall that part. Apparently you used to be able to go up to the lighthouse, but the Coast Guard took over its maintenance a few years ago, so now it's fenced off, which was disappointing.

This is the lighthouse at Pt Judith and also the Coast Gaurd station. Great surfing location and fun to come here and watch the waves during storms. The parking is more limited now as they seemed to have closed the upper lot. Really nice to stop here on the bike tour and take pictures. You can see block island on a nice day.

Parking could have been better. You can't actually get to the lighthouse because it is on a Coast Guard base. You can walk to a park nearby and get a better view.

Our visit to Point Judith, coastal point south of Providence was very refreshing and helped us to relax after 5 hour long drive. This place , apart from it's historic importance offers a lovely spot for surfing. You have unobstructed view of the ocean and surfers while while sitting on the benches along the coast. Lovely place to spend 2 hours and relax

This is an iconic lighthouse and an amazing location. Definitely recommend.

Came here the morning we left from vacation in August 2024. The weather was glum and the waves were rocking and rolling. Lots of surfers out taking advantage of them. It was early morning, so we did not get a change to walk the grounds. However, it is a cool sight. I bet sunrise would be amazing.

It's said they were open and I drove all the way here. It's not open. Yankee stankees probably dont know the difference anyways

This is only a quick stop to look at the lighthouse from a distance, take a picture, and cross it off a list. The National Guard has a post here, so the public doesn't have access to the lighthouse. Even when you go to the site knowing this information, it's rather underwhelming? I mean, if you're a lighthouse geek, then maybe you'll be in awe of the architecture? The parking is haphazard, and the small walking area that is not handicap accessible has a sign saying something to the effect that it's a private area graciously open to the public so don't cause problems and ruin it for everyone (I'm paraphrasing). There's several benches overlooking the coastline, so you can watch the boats. There's no guardrails between you and what I'd guess to be a 12-15 ft drop to the rocky beach below. This area is not child friendly at all.
