Why Kigali, Rwanda, Should Be More Than a Layover Before Your Gorilla Safari
"The appeal at Belgian-French eatery Poivre Noir is as much the lush garden dining terrace as it is the expertly grilled, locally sourced bistro cuisine."
I loved the cozy and intimate ambiance of this place. The food was good, but we had an issue with dessert not coming as described on the menu since some ingredients were missing. It would have been nice to be informed beforehand so we could decide whether to go ahead with the order. Otherwise, it was a lovely experience!

The best curiflowers soup I have had in this year. It’s about up market but absolutely worthy every penny you spend there. Very convenient for dinner dates for its quite and stand alone. Even the music selection was just perfect. Can’t say enough about Poivre Noir. It’s a quite and small place so you might need to make reservations before for you will find it full.

We’ve LOVED this place for years but our last few visits the food quality has really declined. The flavor is no longer as robust as it once was. The presentation is still exceptional but the thoughtfulness is gone. The carpaccio was cut so thickly it was like tartare. The initial bite they gave to every customer used to be a delicious soup and grilled bread. Now it’s a doughy fried corn fritter. The service is still exceptional but I am hoping they can improve their kitchen once again to reach the standard they once had.

The food is not great. The place does not look great. The prices are not moderate. They give you only a byte of cabbage and avocado cream, like a joke. The vegan burger was not tasty enough. There are way nicer restaurants with a lot better food, with much better prices, like The Hut for example. I do not recommend this place.

Decadent and delicious! One of my favorite restaurants in Kigali. I have eaten here and ordered delivery a few times. The burger picture was at home.
I even enjoyed their jerk chicken. Juicy and flavorful, and reminded me of home :)

The mosquitoes are an issue. I decided not to eat anything substantial because it felt really uncomfortable with so many mosquitoes around. I tried an appetizer,(crumble+ mushroom) which was mediocre. I think the place is overpriced, without a doubt. The overall experience can be a bummer, but then again I think it's targeting a certain crowd.

Waiter stands watching his phone. Need to make an effort to get his attention.
Tenderloin and salmon overcooked. Sauces not really tasting great.
Dessert good. Wine good.
Atmosphere.... So so.
Overall, mediocre, overpriced.

Great food. Beautiful setting. It's a lovely spot for a special night out. Service is good. Wise to make a reservation. Even on a random week night, they can fill up.
Had the pulled rabbit ravioli and the duck breast. Both are delicious. A few bone flecks in the rabbit ravioli, so be aware.
