Must stop if you’re in Kyoto ! I had a lovely experience when I was there in March. I found some wonderful gems to bring home. Plan to stop by again when I’m in town in September.

As much as I love some of the items this company designs, we made our way to the store while in Kyoto and found it expensive. While some designs may be worth more than for its originality, most don’t feel special enough to warrant the price tag. Sorry guys…. I am a fan and have followed your social media for a long time but having actually been to the store and seen your designs, I was disappointed :(

When my friends and I decided to take a trip to Japan, I knew immediately I wanted to learn more about kinstugi and began my research. After weighing many options in Tokyo and Kyoto--I luckily decided to book an hour course with our instructor Kiki. The whole studio was quaint and located in a peaceful Kyoto neighborhood. Once there, we were greeted by our instructor and began the course. Over the course of an hour we learned about the art of kinstugi and had each step explained to us before she patiently guided us through the very last step to apply the gold finish on the cracks of our very own pottery pieces. As foreigners, we appreciated her use of English with us, but it was her love of the craft that really made the experience special. The studio itself has many options at different durations and price points--making it accessible for anyone's trip. Plus, kinstugi kits for purchase in person or online to continue the craft yourself. Overall, wonderful experience and would recommend!

Had a kintsugi lesson and our teacher was amazing. The rest of the staff is very friendly. They all speak English so the class went very smoothly and we could understand everything. Definitely worth checking out
