I have been bringing my grandkids to Boulder since 2014, to visit family. We always stay at Pole’s Place. I love it! The rooms are basic, but in the age of always being expected to be connected, it’s a welcome break. The site is well-maintained with beautiful flowers all around. We love to sit in the chairs outside the room and watch the sun rise. Lots of activity (bees, birds, etc.). The rooms are clean and comfortable. Expect a motel experience more in line with that of my childhood (60’s and 70’s). There is a lovely gift shop with an array of items to peruse. Camille, the proprietor, is lovely and holds lots of information about the area. We will continue to stay here on our annual trips to Boulder.

I only visited the gift shop. Welcoming and cozy inside with books about the southwest and other souvenirs. The motel rooms looked good for those traveling by motorcycle, sedan or sports car and for couples or singles not groups of 3 or more.

My boys and I walked into the gift shop to look around. I grew up coming to Boulder as my great great grandparents settled here. I wanted to explore and possibly find a book on the history of the area. I wanted to show my kids where I was almost every weekend growing up. As we walked in the owner immediately told my kids and I we could not go to the “art” side of the shop. “It is not the fun stuff and all expensive.” This is not fine art by the way, just prints and postcards. Nothing over 200$ really. The books were in this area so I guess I was told to not even look at the books, which was my intention. The owner tied to make small talk even though you could tell she didn’t like kids in her shop. My boys are teens so not even little kids. We ended up buying some candy but got ridiculed for not having cash due to credit card services charges being too high. I guess they would prefer no money versus some money. I wanted to stay longer and buy more but we weren’t wanted from the moment we walked in.

We stayed June 7-9 2023. The owner, Camille, was very helpful and honest about information in the area. The flowers in front of the rooms are gorgeous and you can tell Camille takes pride in them. as well as her motel rooms. The room was great. Soft bed, comfy pillows, comfortable overstuffed easy chair and a beautiful hand made quilt on the bed made it feel very homey. Bathroom was very clean with good water pressure. It's a good place stay while visiting the Burr Trail and Hell's backbone and other roads and hiking trails in the area. There are books and information about the history of the original owner, Pole, which I believe Camille descended from. We stayed here two of the 8 days while in Utah and it was our favorite motel. We'd stay again in a heartbeat if in the area.

The owner of this motel was friendly and helpful. I was provided a nice, quiet, clean room with comfortable furnishings. I was even provided ideas and directions for places to see and eat. This place is a great oasis with great customer service. The grounds were a fantastic garden. I would stay here over a resort any day.

Poles Place is a small motel but is taken care of very well. The owner is really nice and willing to offer advice and guidance regarding the area. The rooms are simple and clean, but not cramped for space. The bed was great and there is a comfy recliner chair too. There is a wood porch in front of each room with plastic chairs. I read out there after dinner and watched the storm clouds. It was very quiet, but I don't think there was anyone staying in the room next to mine. I used Poles Place as basecamp for a 3 day weekend adventure. However, this would be a great place to stop over at between Bryce Canyon National Park and Capitol Reef National Park. Boulder is a very small rural town, so don't expect the Four Seasons. No wi-fi, basic TV channels, etc. I would definitely stay here again.

This is not the Hyatt in New York City people. This is a hotel like the old times in rural (population 240!) Utah. We had a very clean room that looked freshly painted and new carpeting. The bed was comfy. In fact, my husband, who is super picky about his bed, slept very well at Pole’s place. There was not a fridge or microwave or coffee maker. There is ice in the office if you need it. Breakfast can be found right down the street. ||Camille, the owner was a delight. She told us about things to do in the area. Her flowers are beautiful! (See my pics.)||Don’t forget to eat at the award winning Hell’s Backbone Grill and Drive Burr Trail Road. We thought Highway 12 was beautiful and then we drive 20 miles out on Burr Trail. Wow!

There are a few motels in Boulder that are throw-backs from the 1970's. Judging by the old furniture, tiny TV, worn out carpet, faded bedspread, sagging mattress, cheap/hard pillows, and thin polyester sheets, Pole's Place would greatly benefit from a face lift to bring it into the 21st century and in the process improve revenues. Because over a million people per year travel from all over the world to this area, there is unlimited potential to transform this property into a truly nice place to stay. Presently, there isn't even a coffee maker in the room, a landline (no cell service), or WiFi anywhere on the property. Behind the motel there is a beautiful mountain and creek which would provide a lovely view from an updated bathroom IF larger windows were installed so you could actually SEE the scenery. Ripping out what appears to be original ugly disgusting brown indoor/outdoor carpet from decades ago and installing new flooring would vastly improve this property. New cotton bed linens, updated furniture, modern USB port lamps for electronic devices, WiFi, and a coffee maker would also be welcome improvements. It's sad to see small town local people become complacent about their businesses and offer only meager amenities and comforts to their customers. This property could easily charge a higher room rate IF they choose to make the wise investment of property renovation and innovation. Otherwise, continuing to offer very marginal accommodations and services will do nothing more than serve the owners and not their customers ~ the ones who didn't read reviews and trickle in hoping for a nice place to lay their heads only to wonder if they have entered into a time warp going back half a century. To the owners: if you don't have the vision or desire to improve your property or offer your customers basic amenities, why not sell it and retire? There are plenty of people I know who would be willing to take it off of your hands and transform it into a beautiful lodging place that would provide the highest standard of customer service and accommodations....

Yelp
We were passing through Boulder and found a need to lodge here because it was late in the evening and we were tired. The place is cute, single level cabin type accommodations. The service was courteous and friendly. I appreciated the clean room, quiet atmosphere and hot shower. In the room was a big binder with many tips for local sightseeing and hiking trails. Since there was no internet in the motel the tips came in handy as we explored Boulder the next day. 4/9/2022.

Yelp
Good oasis in Boulder. Older model property across the street from the museum. Quiet. Comfortable. No fridge. Half the price, or less, than the chi-chi "lodges" nearby. But a comfortable place for a night's sleep.

Yelp
Perfect, simple and clean accommodations! No one should complain about the simplicity. No wifi? Nice break from the digital world!! The owner is up front and honest in her description. Great value and super helpful owner. Coming back for sure.

Yelp
When you've been out camping and hiking, it's just what you need. Who needs TV after seeing Utah? If you've done it right, you will fall asleep when your head hits the pillow. Especially if your window opens toward that stream.

Yelp
Decent motel to stay at in a small town with very few options. Room was neat and clean.

Yelp
This place is well maintained and fairly comfortable. However, its ruined by the very dubious owner who acts as though every person who stays is out to ruin her motel. Upon arrival, she barely opened the front door to let us check in and acted as though we were about to rob her. She finally warmed up as she realized we had talked over the phone about our stay in Boulder and reservations. I warned her we had a dog, and that we understood the no pet policy so we would be keeping him in our car in his crate overnight - and not let him out on the property. She quickly snapped, and started going off about how I was a liar, going on an insult rage for a few minutes (when I could have just not mentioned the dog and kept it in my car off the property as would work just fine). The insults from her seemed very off putting, and uncalled for. I was simply trying to give her a friendly heads up and that we would respect her no animal policy. The rooms were decent, however there were signs everywhere about "what not to do" and how everything had a fine (one sign read $200 fine for cooking in the room?). The place had no wifi, and spotty cell service. The beds were very small and were not a totally comfortable fit for two people. Walls are very thin so beware. All expected though for a simple motel, so that wasn't a huge surprise. It would have been a fair stay, but the energy the owner gives off makes you very uneasy.

Yelp
Very nice little motel in beautiful Boulder, the owner was helpful and efficient. Not much TV, but you don't need one here - go for a hike, walk, or just sit and enjoy the surroundings. The sound of the brook in the back was nice to fall asleep to and the grounds are very well kept with nice rock gardens. Most importantly - it was clean and quiet! I would definitely stay here again.

Yelp
If you are in Boulder, there are few options for lodging, especially lodging under 100 bucks. This is a simple place, with smallish queen beds and creaky floors and thin walls. Everything is very clean and charming, with homemade quilts on the beds. The tv channels are so so. No CNBC. Often when you call for reservation, you will get a message machine but the owner is very good about returning calls and doing business by phone message! Give it a try if you can sleep in a small bed and tune out your neighbors. Only 12 rooms.

Yelp
Pole's Place is a complete delight: a small motel operated by one family for several generations, charging reasonable rates in a tourist area where high season visitors are usually charged eye-popping rates. The cheerful cotton quilts on the beds were a refreshing change from the motel-chain designer-chosen bed linens. The room and bath were very clean. And the extensive flower garden in front of the rooms was impressive This is a great motel to stay in for several nights if you love the natural world and want to explore the spectacular terrain around this part of Utah. At either end of the day, it is pleasant to sit on the front porch, relaxing and looking at birds and bugs while sipping coffee or beer.

Yelp
Cute motel run by a mormon woman who (probably without knowing) had a swastika on her shirt. This isn't a nice hotel, by it's clean and a decently cheap option in this tiny town.

Yelp
cute motel for under $100 in an area with few lodging options - you're an hour away from Torrey (or for more reasonable options, Bicknell) to the north, or from Escalante (which sells out) to the south - hotel is cozy and clean, and the owner is super nice

Matt T.

Yelp
Plain but fine, very clean, friendly and not a bit pretentious. I endorse the others' reviews as spot-on, (except for the mor-on who doesn't know what a swastika really is--hint, the Nazi's didn't invent it, and turned its ancient good luck meaning utterly on it's head). Owner is direct descendant of the town's founder, and I especially enjoyed the notebook she's assembled for each room, with clippings about this charming burg's history and characters--Pole's Place is descended from her great-grandfather, Napoleon, the PT Barnham of Boulder Utah--and menus, suggestions and brochures for what to do while here (sure, there's one channel & no cable tv, but try life as it was once lived once in a while, it's good for you!). 5 stars for me is not for crazy prices, crystalline lighting and deep pile, but for being as good as it can be for what it wants to be. Camille succeeds and I hope to see her again.
