Pollen Bakery

My favourite bakery in Manchester. I used to get my sourdough there a couple of times a week (for me, it’s the best in a very competitive field!) and loved working my way through their pastries and sweet treats. The staff are the absolute best—so friendly and warm. I also love the location; it’s full of natural light, overlooking the marina, with outdoor seating for sunny days. The cooked breakfasts are excellent too. Honestly, everything I’ve had here has been top drawer. 🥐

I absolutely loved Pollen Bakery! The bakery items are a must-try. I had the halloumi & eggs dish and a cinnamon roll, and both were fantastic. The flat white was smooth and perfectly made. Everything tasted fresh and delicious, and the staff were very friendly and attentive. The place itself is quite small, so it can get busy and finding a table might be tricky. I went early in the morning when they opened and managed to find a spot right away. Definitely worth a visit, and I’ll be back for sure next time I’m in Manchester.

One of the best breakfast we ever ate! Lovely place,fresh ingredients,super tasy. Especially recommend to try egg benedicts and homemade hashbrowns with kimchi sauce!!! They have also good coffee and fresh pastries🫠

Came for my birthday brunch with my friends. I had the lemon and blueberry french toast and they both had the hash brown bun. All of the food was absolutely delicious and the coffees were delectable. Shout out to the server who gave me a free cake for my birthday, it made my day!! We will definitely be returning to try out more of the menu!

Delicious food!! So good! I would have bought one of their massive sourdough breads that look so tasty but I had no room to take it. A little warm inside, a fan would do well there on hot sunny days. Free self-water, kind service, take your time here as on busy days it is slower. Beautiful being by the riverway.

Lovely place, not only just for bakery but coffee and food as well. You can see that they really put care into their work with their bread and all sweets. Delight smell inside, sitting outside is also perfect with the sunlight.

The food is good, although I recommend ordering pastries and cakes rather than sandwiches/brunch dishes as baked goods is where Pollen's strength is. Every baked good I tried was fantastic, while the brunch dishes were nothing remarkable. The location is great, and the space is very open and suitable for remote working, as well as it is dog-friendly. Perhaps the biggest negative is that due to the place's size and the fact that remote workers stay there for hours, ordinary customers are often sharing a table with someone else - and the tables are not big. It is a bit uncomfortable if you are trying to have an intimate conversation with friends, and the person next to you is on a meeting with their boss. The place is lovely, but it is way too overhyped on social media. It does not live up to the hype, although I would go there again.

I've been to pollen for take out pastries, coffee, and adore their sourdough, but I've never actually sat down to eat anything more than pastry ... until I did. whenever I've passed this branch, its always been busy, people queued outside on weekends, all tables full inside and outside, and generally busy, so I was a little worried I wouldn't be able to get sat down when I went. It was a Sunday morning, and I could only get there long after opening due to my transport arrangements so I was worried ... but thankfully I was easily able to get a table to sit down and eat .. I'm lucky most of the people of Manchester don't wake up early on a Sunday. So it was a little quiet but inside was almost full when I got there ... which was nice. It was a decent day and I was kinda close to the window so could see the marina and all the people exercising and walking their dogs and it's with sitting and just chill. So with sitting and eating, I wanted to get something good. it always looked amazing when I was waiting for my drink to take out, but I'm always one to have eggs Benedict whenever I can, so I figured I might as well try theirs ... and it did not disappoint. It came with ham hock, 2 eggs, brown butter, hollandaise, and crispy kale on their own sourdough. Im not usually one to have kale ... but they made it amazing. I finished every last bit and wanted more ... it was hands down, one of the best eggs Benedict I have ever had. To accompany the eggs benny, I also went for a coffee, as you do, and an orange juice, which was so nice. Hands down will always recommend people to go to pollen, if not for their sourdough and coffee and pastries to go, but also to sit and eat. Love this place

This place is quite popular! There was a long line (or queue) but it went pretty quickly. I was happy they had an iced black, since I prefer ice coffees. There is a homemade Yuzu drink that I'd love to try next time. Outside has a few more seats than inside. They can run out of food, so I'd make sure you get here on the early side if you want food. It's a pretty casual spot and loudness level depends on the crowd. The food tastes very good!

I enjoyed the almond croissant but did not enjoy their iced tea or hot chocolate. Price wise it was okay.

So many locals told me about this spot, so I finally got around to coming one weekday morning. I got the almond chocolate croissant and it was delicious! Perfectly crispy outside and fluffy throughout but quite pricey. I really enjoyed it! The vibe here is awesome as well, plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, very spacious and next to the water. Would highly recommend this spot!

Absolutely get yourself here !!! Whats not to love coffee and bakes cannot wait to visit again

Came here on a rainy Sunday brunch. Lovely friendly and cozy atmosphere, we got tables by the window. The coffee was delicious and you could tell it was of high quality. Food arrived quickly. We ordered two poached eggs dishes (one with salmon and one with mushroom) both were unique in the sense that it wasn't just you 'standard smoke salmon and chestnut mushroom'. They used a variety of Japanese mushrooms and were very generous in the portion of the smoked salmon (which was flaky salmon, not the kind from the packet you get in supermarkets!) Compared to the competitor brunch place in Manchester (federal) I feel as though pollen bakery is well worth the money (£9 for smoked salmon Benedict , £8 for mushroom) and is worth the trip down to the lovely canal side :)

Manchester city centre has a sweet new bakery! - and this one specialises in sourdough and dark-bake loaves. Based in a railway arch on Sheffield Street, just behind Piccadilly Station (a few units down from Track Brewing), their small-but-perfectly-formed bakery will produce various breads, cakes and pastries such as croissants, pains au chocolat and 'cruffins' - a hybrid of muffins and croissants. They are understandably limited as to how much they can bake each day, so if you don't get down there early, prepare to face empty shelves! Their pastries sold out in less than an hour on opening day. The owners, Hannah and Chris (of Fil Fil Falafel and S'mores fame) are seriously passionate about their new venture and really know how to bake, so you know their goods will be great. Keep a watchful eye on their social media feeds (@PollenBakery) and opening times, and support a lovely indie business. Tip: they accept cash and card payments.

Grateful to find this place when visiting Manchester from the US. Everything we had was delicious and the staff was great. Very good bakery.
