Great place to use as a base to explore the area and recharge your batteries. Room was very clean and comfortable! It met all our needs! Loved it. Dinner menu was good and everything we ordered was tasty! The langoustine’s were amazing, we were looked after by a waitress called Megan I think her name was, local & a islander, she ran the show by herself in that dining room, she deserves a raise! Would definitely return again

We stayed with our family of 5 in June. The views from our family suite were stunning. Watched the ocean waves roll in and out, took amazing strolls along a glorious beach with emerald green water. Rooms were clean and bright. Food was incredible. Best fish and chips I’ve had in the UK. Langoustines were fabulous and so was chicken Marsala. The two brothers at the bar really know how to take care of you! This place is magical!

This a really nice place to spend a couple of nights will visiting South Uist. The rooms are spacious and if you have a sea view and excellent view over to Eriskay. There is a comfortable bar with outside seating and a good restaurant serving excellent seafood (on the nights they can get the staff). Overall a good experience and the cooked breakfast was great as well. The best part was the sunset on the first night.

Had been really looking forward to our stay. Room was good except it was really tiny and difficult with two people in it. Helpful young waitress who did her best- alongside other disinterested staff/hard to find staff. Some food still frozen and no staff in sight. Ended up going with it to reception. 5 stars for young waitress, zero stars for the others. Letting her and the inn down.

A group of us cycling the Hebridean Way stopped her for two nights. I’d describe the hotel as comfortable. The rooms are in good decorative order. The highlight of my room was the shower, fabulously powerful! ||The food was on the whole good. Again the best dish I ate was the langoustines with chive butter. These were excellent. The venison casserole was bland. ||The start of the stay was Tyler the young barman. He was working on his own to serve the restaurant and the bar with beers taps that were faulty. He handled us as customers brilliantly. After being kept waiting for nearly 20 minutes for a drink, he took the initiative to give free drinks to those of us that had waited a long time. ||He kept calm and handled the whole dilemma extremely well. I’d employ him any day! Well done mate. A charming young man.

Sat in a stunning location the Bar offered us Cold Beers and White Wine right at the end of South Uist. It was only a short walk from where we stayed and provides a vital watering hole for walkers, cyclists and everyone else in the area.||We didn’t eat but were told that you needed to book days in advance.||I don’t like speaking negatively about staff (we can all have a bad day) but service was poor both times we went in and bar/eating area were cold and lifeless. ||To me, it felt like a place that was struggling. One member of bar staff was openly criticising a colleague to anyone who’d listen - then vanished themselves and couldn’t be found for 10mins when we wanted our next drinks.||Everyone in there (not that many in) seemed to have something to moan about. Maybe businesses on islands can’t be fussy who they employ, I don’t know.||Still worth a visit and we’d go back, we’d just lower our expectations.

We didn’t stay, only had lunch. We went one day to ask about booking for lunch and a really lovely young lady was so helpful. We booked a table for 14:30, knowing they stop serving food at 15:00. We arrived early, which was fine as there were only 2 other tables. The bar and a bigger restaurant type bit were closed. We ordered and had delicious food… then came the problems. The only member of staff kept disappearing - we think for a cigarette as he kept his tobacco in his shirt pocket. After he cleared our plates he disappeared. We waited, then my husband looked for him, couldn’t find him, we waited, I looked for him and he saw me through the kitchen door and came out. By this point it was about 14:55 - we’d waited for him for a good 10 minutes or more. We asked about ordering desserts and he said there were only the cakes on the counter (no cover on them by the way). He said he could see if the kitchen had anything. We told him clearly they had stopped serving and he hadn’t asked us in time if we wanted dessert. We pointed out there were desserts listed on the children’s menu so what if our daughter wanted one? We were told that wasn’t an option. He smiled and walked off. We asked for the bill and he didn’t seem to understand that we were annoyed. No real apology. Lack of atmosphere, and staff, whole place needs a refurb. So much potential but couldn’t really recommend from our experience.

A great location, run by friendly staff with a delicious food menu! The hotel is right on the beach by an ancient standing stone, and is a fantastic location to watch the sun set.|I did feel the hotel was overpriced for the quality of room which was basic, though I appreciate there is little competition in the area so should not complain! Would stay again.

Went here one night after digging up a long house up the road with my field school and had a surreal night. The drinks were plentiful, as were the boys from Wales. Nothing like listening to a band of Scotsmen covering American rock and roll while talking to a person from Cardiff. Pretty good spot, lovely view of Barra.
