A local favourite of ours. Came in last night for dinner in the restaurant and was blown away by the food. Mains and desserts were absolutely delicious and a great portion for the price!! Definitely worth the money and will be coming back more regularly

Best place for a meet up and even better when it's mulled wine 🍷 time! Food is consistently good from the bar as is service. Gosh it's taken more than 20years of visits for a review but it's stood the test of time as a great place with atmosphere winter or summer, whether 2 of us or a group outdoors.

Had an amazing dinner here last week. Can't recommend highly enough! The food was amazing (Chicken Burger) and the staff were so friendly and helpful. I will be back!

I was driving past and was looking for somewhere to go for dinner, so I decided to check out the website. We decided to give it a try, and we're lucky to get a table. Recommend booking a table. We had the bangers and mash, and Cumberland sausage (spiral) slightly peppered, which was fantastic. Big variety of beers, locally brewed. There is no mainstream lager, so try something different people. Sticky date pudding was really good, too.

Fabulous pub!! It's huge inside with many tables and nooks, plus high tables and booths. Within walking distance to where we were staying which is one of the reasons I booked the accommodation. Soft music so you can still talk and dog friendly, just like a normal English pub. The food is outstanding! I have never had, or likely will have again, such good fish and chips! The fish was cooked to perfection with such a light batter and it was the perfect sizing. Loved everything about this pub.

Welcoming warm and well worth a visit. We had a lovely early evening family meal. Staff are great. Kind towards the kids. Food was plentiful and tasty. Atmosphere has a relaxed local vibe. Thank you.

Adore. I wish I lived in this neighborhood so this could be my neighborhood pub. My family dined here three times during a recent vacation, and every time was memorable: Outstanding food, friendly service, warm atmosphere. Plus neighborhood dogs. Don't miss it.

Traditional pub, decent food. Very noisy , filled with young families. If you want a relaxed atmosphere I'd try elsewhere. Decent pints.

Delicious food and drink and awesome atmosphere! All the staff are very friendly. I had the fish and chips and it was cooked to absolute perfection.

In a sentence: Great pub with good food and friendly service. A little more information: 31 boutique beers on tap with a helpful waitress who happily obliged to our many questions about the different beers. Nice little wine list and fully stocked bar just incase you aren't in the mood for beer.. Seasonal menu which includes something for everyone. The couple next to us we're eating the cracklings chips. We went for the squid, goats cheese salad and chicken wings. We all left saying how much we enjoyed our lunch. The pub is one part of a B&B and café. Family owned it's only four blocks from the heart of Christchurch city. For sports fans there is a TV. I've been told this place is packed on a Friday night. I'm not surprised - it has everything you could want in a pub.

A perfect pub. Great beer. Great pig ears. Maybe some of the best fish and chips i've ever had. Nice and cozy, despite being quite large. Pomeroy's is pretty awesome and you have to go if you're in Christchurch.

Rocking good but you heard that. True good pub food but only a hand full of selections. Kind tenders let you sample the drafts to find the right selection. Order everything from the bar and get a number.

I flew into Christchurch with a mission to find some good local brews. After a few misses, I came to Pomeroy's and all my dreams came true. This pub has an old-style feel but with modern and exciting local beers...in addition to those they brew themselves ("Four Avenues brewing"). The people behind the bar are friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to let you taste. After a few beers, I needed some food. I ordered the wings and was blown away by the size, quality and flavor of the dish. They were big, meaty and delicious, with just the right spices....and went great with more Kiwi beer. The beers I enjoyed at Pomeroy's in August 2014: Four Avenues The Opposition Amber Ale, Three Boys IPA, Panhead Supercharger, Harrington's Kiwi Draught. Harrington's Pig & Whistle Dark, Garage Project Hops on Pointe, Parrotdog Ale. If you are in Christchurch, this is a must visit.

The customer service is amazing from my personal experiences, ranging from light chatting to a welcoming feeling. The British pub architecture really makes the place feel cosy and enjoyable. Although the menu is a little limited for vegetarians etc, but over all a great experience. Personal favourite is the Deep Fried Cauliflower, it's amazing.

Stayed at the B&B next door because we knew the pub was right there for something to eat and drink. If you don't know what you'd like to drink from all the craft beers they have a fantastic way of helping you select from the over 30 craft beers offered. Had small glasses of 5 different beers just to get a taste of everything. The Lamb Arancini and the house doughnuts were to die for! We made a passing remark that we'd like to eat the next night fairly early and the next day when inquiring, they had already reserved for us. Service is top notch!!

I've been to Pomeroy's 3 or 4 times now. This place is great! They have a fantastic beer selection. They have excellent pub food. I have tried everything on their appetizer menu, and it is all worth ordering multiple dishes of. On top of all that, their bartender service is top notch. Every time I visit Christchurch, this place is on the list to return to.

Met some Kiwis in this lovely Irish Pub in the heart of Christchurch ! I very recommend to drink the Apple Cider and the Hippy Berliner (at least as a German ) ... We had a great time and it will not be our last check in at Pomery's! Thanks.

I can't say enough about this place! I actually left mid happy hour to try another restaurant on my list, but ended up turning around and coming right back. Pomeroy's has 2 components: 1) craft beer bar and 2) restaurant, which isn't your typical brewpub type of food. They absolutely positively have the BEST beer battered fish & chips that I ate in my 3 weeks in NZ. I also had a vegetarian gnocci if you can fathom such a thing, and man, was it amazing! I could definitely taste the market fresh in-season vegetables, the presence of which was only mentioned, rather than drilled into one's brain at other on trend restaurants found in the states. Their craft beer selection is wonderous, and when I say that, I mean that you're not getting served no Steinlager. I was not familiar with any local breweries down under, and I was pleasantly surprised. I can't stress the importance that you go now and try. This place singlehandedly proved that NZ food couldn't be as bad as I had experienced in 3 weeks.

What a cool place! We tried 2 very nice beers - the porter and the amber ale. Both brewed there. They were both very good. We happened to hit happy hour between 5pm - 6pm. Pints were $6 and we were treated to some nice warm, toasted fresh bread with a very nice mild cheese and pickled onions. We sat in some comfy chairs and enjoyed the experience.

A really great historic pub where cricket fans crowd the tables and sip craft beers. There's a great selection of beers to choose from as well as a full bar if you're in the mood. Four Avenues Brewing Co is located behind the brewery and three of their beers are always featured in house, but there are 15 other regulars on tap for you to try. There truly is a beer for everyone here. Take a peek at their menu as they have a wide variety of stand out barfood from spiced free-range chicken wings and chicken and pork terrine to jalapeno cheesedip and homemade pork crackling. There's also soup, squid and vegetarian nachos. Pomeroy's often has events going on, so check out their website to make sure you don't miss out on beer tasting fun! We visited during the Cricket World Cup and sat amongst crazy fans at their family seating tall top tables. There were also booth options and table options, but the space is limited. There is a small pool table near the wall where you can entertain yourself if you don't understand the rules to cricket. Despite being one of the best drinking establishments in ChCh, they also pride themselves on their commitment to quality, healthy and fresh menus at their Victoria restaurant. I recommend making a booking for this restaurant at least 48 hours in advance. There is a full lunch and dinner menu with anything from steak and venison to beer-battered fish and herb+gruyere gnocchi. Pomeroy's still is an Inn with a B&B next door. Visiting or just don't want to drive home? Be sure to make a booking in advance to stay in their adorable cottage. Awesome place. Over 30 tap beers - mostly supporting home-grown craft beers. Incredible hearty pub food (the pork belly is the best I've had - surprising smokey flavour). Combined with a great atmosphere, comfortable decor, and even a few events and live acts thrown in for good measure.

If you're a beer or cider lover then you're going to really enjoy Pomeroy's. They have an amazing selection of drinks on tap and they present them well making it simple to work out what styles you'll like and therefore what you should order next. They do also have a good wine list for those not partial to what's on offer via the taps! We also had the Pom Platter which was a surprisingly filling selection of meats, cheeses, calamari and chicken wings amongst other things. Great to nibble on slowly whilst working your way through said taps! The place itself had plenty of seating which is very cosily furnished as an old English pub. The staff are awesome, super friendly and helpful when selecting the next amazing beer. We had a great evening/night here and were very happy we made the walk up to Pomeroy's......although we did need to taxi it back to the hotel!

Arrived at 9:32 and kitchen was closed at 9:30 unfortunately they wouldn't serve me dinner. Had a beer. Nice ambiance.

Great chups! There are so many beers on tap and they're always rotating an amazing selection in. The food is awesome although we always went in on Sunday after skiing which is at the tail end of their food week. The Sunday roast sure makes up for it though. Make sure to try their microbrew.

We had a beer and the garlic fries. Both were great. At some point they came around with free bread and cheese, which helped keep the drinking going. No wifi.

An excellent choice of beers both local and on-site, as well as a fantastic choice of whisky. I had the battered fish and my wife had the smoked salmon salad. Both were very flavorful and the service was friendly. Would highly recommend!
