The b&b is situated in a side road, up 3 floors. Not much curb appeal.
So I mean this wasn't the BEST welcome. Our taxi driver dropped us off, he waited for us, we had buzzed the bell and had no response twice. The taxi driver called the owner (speaking the lingo) and we were allowed up into the building. Once then inside on the 3rd floor, we had to call the owner as he was not on site to check us in (we were slightly early like 13.50) didn't answer the first few calls, however he turned up after we made him aware. We booked the "quad" room and we were told he had made a mistake as there's only two of us we have to have the double room. We were obviously disappointed as we like space and it was the room we had booked and paid for (despite it only being for 2 of us). After a lengthy discussion we reluctantly agreed to stay in the only room, the double room. Other options would cost more - like going to another hotel. Due to staying in a double and not the quad room i expressed disappointment and the owner then offered €60 working out as €20 per night. He did initially agree to €70 but then backtracked as he said lost commission due to being on booking.com?
Room overall modern looking and clean. There's no tea and coffee in the room (which it is advertised online as). The tea cups were small. It even said mini-bar in the room and there isn't. Chose to keep own stuff in room (not shared kitchen). WiFi is free and if you DID have a car there is a lot of parking available opposite.
People's voices echo from the kitchen. Some people had their phones playing music or videos one evening and it could be heard through a shut door. Very noisy.
The toilet seat lid was broken and we made the owner aware, he seemed fine with it and replied "I know". Should be a decent shelf to use which isn't the towel rack which is quite high up. Or more hooks near the door.
The room itself is not soundproof and noises can be heard, like toilets flushing, people in the hall or kitchen talking.
Room was cleaned daily which is good. The beds and pillows were comfy. The beds are long which is good.
Kitchen area is good to use, but annoying having to keep leaving room for a brew. Kitchen works on a "honesty box" format (though CCTV covered the area and there is a price list) - cutlery and plates can be used. There's small foods and butter and milk. Due to the room issue "tea" was offered as free to us, which was a nice gesture very much used as British folk. No price on the bread slices or squares of butter, or small items (croissants or Nutella). Worked out supermarket price and averaged out what we used. There is an oven and electric hob to use. There was washing up liquid, but no dishcloths, (there was a scourer), no tea towels, no substantial pans or even a pizza cutter (in Italy!) so cooking tools are limited. No draining rack when washing your own dishes but there is a dishwasher.
There is a balcony to sit on, it does link with the other customers room too. So whilst you can sit outside it isn't completely private! The hooks to keep the shutters in place were broken so had to wedge them open with the chairs to get some light in the room.
