We often come here for a good quality Italian dinner. Outdoor seating is nice in summer and so is the house made gelato. Not a lot of starter options but enough to satisfy and lots of good pizza pasta and other options for main courses. Friendly staff and a place we often happily return to. We do order decent wine and grappa so we spend more than average.

It’s always a pleasure dining at this place. You’ll feel the warmth via food and the customer service! Always on the order list is the spaghetti con gamberi for me!

It was amazing pasta with extra Parmesan cheese. Sorry I don’t have picture before I start to eat, that nice instagram picture😁, it’s because I didn’t realize in the beginning it will be that good. After I start to eat I realize I should take a picture and also after my husband says it’s amazing pasta. So we both think pasta was so amazing. And this is our favorite restaurant now. The staff was so nice they wear same white T shirt and Jeans all they have same uniform it’s looks so neat. For me it’s real traditional Italian pasta and owner and staff most of them Italian. This place have Italian vibe. If you Italian you’ll feel you at home. My English is not so good sorry for that hope you’ll understand me. I’m from Kazakhstan and I’m so happy to dine there.

If you're looking for a truly authentic Italian dining experience in Bondi Beach, look no further. The food was absolutely incredible! The pasta was fresh and cooked to perfection. Amazing selection of Italian wine was perfectly presented. A gem in Bondi Beach. We'll absolutely be back. Thanks, Antonio and team!

I prefer food that’s not too salty or oily, and this Spaghetti con Gamberi is my favorite!Fresh, tasty seafood with perfectly cooked pasta, and the capers add that perfect pop—it keeps me coming back.

Organic foods. Biodynamic gelato best in syd and or very luckly most au. Foods is delicate and for whome eats clean, with olive oils and no seeds oils. This is only 1 organic place in bondi and most likely in syd. The pizza is wonderful too. We feel great before during and after meals with good energy and digestion. Thank you Pompei Team. 🐞❤️ Fyi, if you are looking for Italian food but up to addiction toxic foods gmo that are more au then Italian ( all au as there is not gmo ban like in Europe snd other countries yet) its not the place to go as it's only for whom what to have good time eating good food enjoys respects and can taste ingredients ~ do not need heavy and covered tastes to feel and taste something.

NOT A FRESH TASTY EXPERIENCE PACKAGED AND PROCESSED INGREDIENTS. Well where do I start SHOCKING, four of us went there on Friday night, I have never had such plain and tasteless food in my life at a cost of over $340, the food cost on a $40 meal was about $5 a few small prawns and few strips of fish and a lump of spaghetti, backpackers for servers and a completely dis-organised kitchen along with not being clean, kitchen and service areas were very open to the customers walking past. We were charged $80 for a nasty cheap bottle of Prosecco that tasted terrible, I would have preferred a french champagne for a little more cost than that rubbish. Menu was too big and confusing. AS A DINING EXPERIENCE THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST DISAPPOINTING I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED. I don't eat out often because of this type of rubbish that you get served up, I am a qualified chef and I cook 100% better food in my own spotless kitchen.

We arrived quite late (after 9pm) and could still order even though the kitchen was about to close. The food was just superb: tagliatelle al funghi, ravioli with beetroot, veal cotelleta. We wanted to taste the ice cream on the way out and ended up receiving a small cup for free! So between the food and the kind service, it was a great experience

Yelp
Decor - good with plenty of shaded patio and interior seats. Resembles typical cafe with upscale coffee and sweets. At first glance you might mistake the place for just coffee and tea. Food - I enjoyed the special fish (snapper) dish a lot. Rest of family tried two small pizzas. The pizza was average. They were still hungry so we added dessert. Dessert - all was good but place was packed and service was very slow at this point somewhat hurting our overall experience. We ordered an Affagato - it had espresso already poured on ice cream - so that destroyed my fun and ice cream very melted upon arrival. The other desserts each arrived at different times. Frustrated a bit - which is rare while on vacation. Service - off to great start then crashed and burned near end. First restaurant in Australia to ask for service tip during checkout. Value - Bill was over $200 aud for 5 of us with wine and after dinner drinks. Not good. Overall - would I return? No. This could have been 5 stars with better pizza and service. Pasta likely the better choice.

Yelp
Best gluten free pizza in Sydney!! Right off Bondi Beach, this gem is nestled in the shopping area near woolworths. It was a beautiful day so I ordered my pizza as takeout so I could eat at the beach. The waiter was so nice and got my order taken very promptly and I only had to wait about 10 minutes despite the place being pretty busy! I got the Rossa pizza on a gluten free crust and I asked fadded prawns. The prawns were HUGE and the crust was soft and baked to perfection. Absolutely delicious tomato sauce as well.

Yelp
Oh boy. It was a $42 meal for Diavola pizza, salad, and a coke. A slap in the face would have tasted better than this. The pizza just looked bland. It tasted worse. The meat has this processed fake flavor to it. Somehow it was soupy. Perhaps undercooked. The salad was fresh and crispy though. Which was nice. The dressing was an oil & vinegar. Very boring. Try something new and inventive like white balsamic vinegar. I'm willing to pay a good amount for a meal, and it saddens me to say this place is not worth what it's selling for. Matteo, please accept constructive criticism and not get butt hurt.

Yelp
The food here is really great. We had the Rustica (garlic) bread as a starter. It was hot, fresh, amazing. Ordered two pasta dishes as well as a couple drinks. The only issue we had was we showed up for an early dinner so there was only one other large group ahead of us, and for some reason we just got everything we ordered after people that showed up after us. Pretty slow for us, and we weren't in a hurry but when your hungry and the table that sat 20 minutes after you and ordered after you gets their food first, it's a little frustrating. And it was a couple tables we observed. All in all great food, wish I could have tried the gelato, but we waited so long for our food, I was too tired to even try to wait for that. I'd still return, just knowing what to expect if your hungry helps.

Yelp
As soon as you see this place behind the main street at Bondi Beach you'll know its a bit of a classy joint. If the large tiled logo on the corner of the shop doesn't allude you to this, then the silver covers over the gelato containers should. Pompei's is a gelato bar that's a bit fancy. It offers some unusual gelato flavours and also originals with organic ingredients, some of which are even imported from exotic European locations. If you're in a hurry, then I can excuse you for grabbing a cone to go, but the best way to experience this place is to ask for your favourite or a few of your favourites in a dish and eat in.

Yelp
Had an amazing experience having lunch here! I love the style and ambience! Music was good too! Service was excellent! Food came fast and it was super delicious like I am back in Italy! We had a way too much food and felt good no matter that we tried so many dishes! Caprese salad is superb! Bursts with prosciutto was good. Loved their prosciutto pizza and ordered extra mushrooms and tomatoes on it! Perfect crust! Wholemeal pasta was light and delicious.. in white wine, chili, garlic with fresh seafood! Tiramisu was good too and wine was excellent!!! Definitely one of the best Italian in Sydney!

Yelp
Went to Pompei's on a Sunday for lunch. It wasn't crowded and it was a nice setting. Quick and lovely service. Food came out quickly and was delicious. Reasonable prices considering it's in Bondi. Good location.

Yelp
After reinvigorating my love for Pompeis again a few weeks ago... I thought I was won over and ultimately a true believer in the place again - I thought wrong. Being a Bondi resident for now 20+ years, I assumed this restaurant would uphold certain standards - being around for such a long time now. Tonight I went back and experienced a 36 minute wait for garlic bread, pizza, veal and mushroom pasta, only to be told by a senior member of wait staff, if I hadn't said "Bring out whats ready", the bread would be at the table. I'm sorry but 36 minutes? Especially specifying how starving we were? I would rather walk 50m up the road to The Italian for a better, quicker meal (they were packed of course)... which is what we did. Unfortunately, Pompeis didn't seem to care - and neither do we anymore. The Italian all the way.

Yelp
Expensive with alright food. My pasta was a bit greasy and had more garnishes that I anticipated. Good location though; a walk away from the beach.

Yelp
The service here was a shamozzle on the night I came! We ordered food to share and had to ask for side plates - they came but with no cutlery or serviettes. Luckily we were seated next to the cutlery area so we grabbed some ourselves! We had to ask twice for wine glasses, one of our meals got delivered to the wrong table and we asked twice for the bill before it turned up. The staff were friendly and apologetic but that didn't make up for the chaos. The food was actually good so it's a shame about the service. The ragu was tasty and fresh. This place is a kid magnet too so probably best avoided if you are seeking a romantic evening.

Yelp
Authentic Italian restaurant! The food was pretty good. We ordered a mixed salad, pasta ragu and a Parma pizza. It was delicious! The only thing about it which was not that fantastic was the service. The food took a long time to be served, our pasta was served to the wrong table, we had to get our cutlery and I'm currently sitting at my table waiting for the bill (we had asked for it twice so far). Apart from the service, the food was good. Highly recommend it if you're not super hungry and happy to wait.

Yelp
A must when you're in Bondi. It's been in business for 25 years. Some of the best artisan pizza,. We have family members that are GF and one that's dairy free, they were all blown away with how delicious the pizza was. Pasta is also really nice. They have a gelato bar that's the perfect stop after dinner. Highly recommend this gem. Family friendly and good for large group. Reservations are recommended.

Yelp
It wasn't a terrible place to have dinner. But it certainly caters to a certain crowd. Packed with loud children and the wait staff running around like mad men, it's a nice place to take a big group with children. For my own taste, it was slightly overpriced for what you received. I ordered the vongole which was mediocre. The host, whom I am assuming is the owner, was very attentive. I probably would not return, but it was a decent meal, slightly over priced.

Yelp
Ordinary-looking - if brightly-lit - Italian restaurant just behind the main drag of Bondi Beach. It's not just for backpackers, though: Sydneysiders claim it produces the best pizza in the city. I didn't have the pizza. It didn't look that amazing to me. Instead my wife and I took our buide book's recommendation that their northern Italian pastas are the real deal. They weren't wrong. It didn't look a massive portion, but the bowl held more penne than I thought. And the creamy gorgonzola sauce was incredible. I forget which sort my wife had, but she loved it as well. There's outdoor seating that provides loads of opportunity for people-watching. Closed on Mondays.

Yelp
Love the gelato and the foods were fabs. Just perfect after our coastal walk from coogee

Yelp
Why two? I think food quality and service are equal parts. The service was a 1 star (because that is the lowest allowed). I found them unwelcoming and unhelpful. The food was ok or average so three stars for that.

Mike P.

Yelp
The food was excellent and the service was amazing. After not even waiting very long they apologized for the delay and gave us our gelato for free. I would fly back from New York just to eat here again. Thanks for an amazing dining experience

Yelp
Pompei's was such a pleasant surprise for us. We popped in for lunch and it's such a cute, intimate dining room. Our server was lovely and the freshly baked bread we ordered was just delicious. We shared a pizza that tasted fresh from Italy. I also saw the kitchen team hand rolling raviolis for that night and the attention to detail was impressive. If you want quality, authentic Italian food this is the place to go.

Yelp
Just had dinner their tonight and I'm on a bit of a roll with reviews so lets see ..... Half of town was closed being a public holiday. But we knew Pompei's would be open. Authentic Italian waiters served up ...ok'ish Italian. I went with my kids ...please don't go on a date otherwise you will suffer a child induced slow hell. The kids love it, the adults tolerate it, could be a lot worse. You know what I'm almost a fan !

Yelp
A fun surprise on our quick visit to Bondi Beach. It appears to be a family run business fresh from Italy. The appetizer was wonderful and the pizza was great. The quality of the ingredients was the real surprise. The wait staff was charming and efficient.
