"In Florida, citrus orchards and an old well have been reborn as a Spanish explorer’s quixotic dream come true. Created in 1904 by local entrepreneur “Diamond Lil” (aka Luella Day McConnell), the 15-acre Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park is purportedly located on the site where Spanish explorer Ponce de Leon first landed in 1513. Although Ponce de Leon has long been associated with the story for the search for the mythical fountain, he actually never wrote anything about any such quest. It was only after his death that other biographers wrote that the fountain was the motivation behind his expedition in Florida. The legend of the mysterious life-giving spring dates back to at least the time of Herodotus, placed everywhere from Ethiopia to the mythical islands of Bimini, but since Ponce de Leon’s time it has firmly been associated with Florida. The larger-than-life personality of Diamond Lil matched her colorful background. She left her life as a practicing doctor in Chicago (unusual for a woman of the era) to take part in the Klondike gold rush of the 1890s (even more unusual). She must have done something right, because she was described as arriving in St. Augustine, Florida in 1904 with “cash and a diamond in her front tooth.” She bought land and promptly opened her park and converted the on-site well into the Fountain of Youth. St. Augustine at the time was firmly gripped with a kind of Ponce de Leon mania, so her choice of themes was appropriate. In no time at all she began unearthing “artifacts” related to the Spanish explorer, including one that looked suspiciously similar to an old salt cellar. Since her time, the park claims to have made several important archaeological discoveries, including Ponce de Leon’s “recording landmark and accompanying artifacts,” Native American artifacts, and evidence of an early colony on the site." - ATLAS_OBSCURA

Had a wonderful time. Awesome little place, tons of peacocks! Educational, fun, great scenery. Check out the blacksmith and cannon demonstration. We were a group of young and old, we all enjoyed ourselves. Expect to spend 2 or 3 hours of you want to see everything, and that's still a bit of a rush if you wanna take your time.

A Must-Visit Interactive Experience in St. Augustine! The Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park is such a gem! It’s incredibly interactive, making it perfect for all ages. You can easily spend an entire day exploring and learning. From historical demonstrations to fascinating exhibits, everything invites you to engage and immerse yourself in the rich history of the area. What I loved most is how hands-on everything was—you don’t just walk through; you experience it. Whether you’re learning about Native American history, watching the cannon fire, or strolling through the beautiful grounds, there’s so much to see and do. Plus, they have food and drinks on-site, which makes it even more convenient to make a day of it. You can grab a bite and enjoy the peaceful surroundings before diving back into the activities. Highly recommend for families, history buffs, or anyone looking for a unique and engaging day out in St. Augustine. I’ll definitely be back!

Very cool place. We love to visit just to see the Peacocks. The blacksmith demonstration is a favorite as well as the firing of the cannon. Tried the water from the Fountain of Youth, but sadly, it didn't work. Lol

My husband and I were vacationing in St. Augustine for my birthday weekend and we decided to do the Fountain of Youth touristy thing that our relatives have been telling us about. We visited on a Saturday morning around 9:45am and we fortunately beat the crowds as the parking lot only had about 5 cars and we only encountered a handful of guests walking around. Entrance for adults was about $23 including tax, total for both of us was about $43.90, which had 1 admission discounted for military vet with ID. We first walked over to the Fountain of Youth building, which had a friendly female guide informing us about some interesting facts on the displays. There is a small stairway down to the spring where the water is coming from. The water itself is unimpressive and had a sulfur metal taste which reminded me of our home's well water prior to filtration. The "fountain" experience is underwhelming so I believe that the allure of the place is the historic value / significance, the lovely scenery, and the beautiful park birds. My husband and I really enjoyed meeting the peacocks and hens. The pigeons were also super friendly and landed on my husband while I was trying to feed the peacocks. Make sure you bring your camera or camera phone with you prior to visiting since the park is full of photo op locations. Restrooms are next to the souvenir shop and are the cleanest restrooms I've ever seen in a park / state tourist attraction. We walked over to the watchtower between the cannon show and after climbing about 40 stairs, we were able to see around the park. The watchtower is closed 10 minutes prior to each hourly cannon show so remember to watch the time if you're interested in climbing the tower. The entire park has lots to see so water, comfy walking shoes, and clothing / sun screen are a must-have if you plan to explore. As a side note, the food stalls near the ticket shop were closed when we arrived (around 9:30 am) so either eat before you visit early in the morning, or bring snacks to tide you over until they open.

Google
So.. many... Peacocks!!! They're gorgeous! The park was neat too. Jokes aside the Discovery Globe was really cool as were the exhibits. It's got a neat story. The canon firing was cool but the blacksmith was my favorite part!

Look for discounts. Plan 2-3 hours. If you got caught by a line due to the common field trip/groups skip the spring and do rest of the park. It is not very large and the spring is near the exit also. We did enjoy the cannon and musket demonstration (shout out to Geronimo) Beautiful peacocks are in abundance, including pure white ones. Don’t miss the street it is located on, as it has to be the spookiest street completely covered in Spanish moss.

Google
Great historical information!! If you're a history nerd (like me!) You could spend hours here. The live Canon firing was awesome and going up in the Watch tower was beautiful! Beautiful views!

Google
This is an amazing historic site. We came here for our anniversary weekend and had a wonderful time looking at all of the historical artifacts and stunning scenery. The beautuful peacocks were an added treat. It was son nice to see them in the wild. This place has been so well maintained and kept up through the years. There was plenty of free parking, and the tickets were reasonably priced. I would recommend coming to this place when you visit St. Augustine. You won't regret it.

Faith E.

Yelp
Fun place! We've been to St Augustine several times but this was our first time at the park. It's easy to find, and it's got tons of parking! Lots of scheduled shows; just small, little educational things but they're neat. Some demonstrations, too. The day we went, it was gloomy and drizzly so most demos weren't happening. We did see the canon demo, and got to try their interactive exhibits. We drank from the fountain of youth. Neat set up but that stuff is nasty. It's like, typical Florida water (it's from a spring), but worse. But we did it! Peacocks everywhere! They're wonderful. Beautiful and friendly, but they're everywhere. We enjoyed our day here. There's a lot of indoor stuff, as well as outdoors. All of the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. When you exit through the gift shop, there's plenty of opportunities to grab a souvenir.

AnnMarie N.

Yelp
Really a nice outdoor experience. Small shows along the trail - costing about 22$ you can spend an hour and a half (there's a coupon in the books at hotels) 1$ off Cute gift shop. I like the outside activities.

Tina N.

Yelp
Had a great day seeing all the history and nature... Brought my dog and everyone was super friendly and welcoming!! They even had dogs water bowls in multiple locations. If you like dad jokes and puns... make sure you catch the blacksmith show... he was the best!!

Anita S.

Yelp
The FOY has education and fun at the location of the first settlement. It's also a beautiful place where history comes alive along the river banks. Enjoy learning and experiencing weapons like the canon and musket fire, watch a blacksmith at work and hear about the first people's lives.

Denise W.

Yelp
We were on our way home and thought we would stop by, but you have to pay $20+ to see the park. We did not want to spend the day so we left and just saw a beautiful peacock.

Neha M.

Yelp
Cool thing to do when you're in the area. They have the fountain of youth and lots of demonstrations to sit and watch. Peacocks too! I didn't see any other wildlife like it said but it was a fun thing to do when exploring the area.

Eli S.

Yelp
Love this place. Great for the family even young children. Lots of things to see and do. I recommend.

Dawn C.

Yelp
Sip from a mythical spring while exploring native and colonial life at this roadside attraction. While there isn't any factual evidence that Ponce De Leon walked these grounds, roadside America has laid its claim to this beautiful park since the 1860s! While De Leon might not have been there, archaeological digs found that indigenous people and a Spanish colony used the site. Today, it's a family-friendly attraction with live demonstrations, passionate storytellers, and lots of discovery. Watch a canon blast, hear a musket fire, and see a blacksmith demonstration all within an easy hour. This is a delightful slice of old Florida that is a quick activity to get your kids off their devices and into history. Parking is accessible in the big lot. A BBQ stand is at the gate so that you can eat on-site.

Tony D.

Yelp
This was an enjoyable place to visit with small presentations along the paths. Some areas need attention but others were obviously renovated or new construction and very nice. The main attraction maintained a historical appearance. The musket firing demonstration was very informative and there is also a cannon firing demonstration that we didn't see due to inclement weather. Other things at the park include tiki huts, clean restrooms, an old church reconstruction historical markers, a planetarium display that was a bit antiquated, and a pier. The native plants and trees along the mulched path are in need of renovation. Great for families.

Tom G.

Yelp
OK, this is a must do if you want to "drink from the Fountain of Youth." That was really the main (only) reason we stopped in. Admission was a bit steep in my opinion. There were a number of things to see and a demonstration on cannon firing that was going on to get a good impression of early life in St. Augustine. Thirty minutes max.

Yelp
The Fountain of Youth park is an interesting place. It's old, it has a bit of something for everyone. Some of the things I enjoyed. --Cannon fire: They had a bunch of old rusted hulks, but also a breach loader that they fired. At the same spot, they had some diagrams of how these cannons were built and how they worked. The guys running the exhibit were friendly and had a lot of interesting information. --Planetarium: This is a smallish planetarium, but it had a neat little show about how ships navigate using the stars, and they even had a variety of example tools like the sextant and a couple of model ships. They turn the night sky back to the way it appeared on April 2, 1513, the night before Juan Ponce de Leon landed on the shores of Florida. --Discover globe: The globe is 30 feet high and lit up. It uses lights to show the paths of the various exploration ships. Old tech, very cool. --Peacocks everywhere! Lots of screaming and you can buy peanuts with quarters and feed them. There are other exhibits such as blacksmith, Timucuan villages, boat house, river walk, and being able to drink from water out of the fountain of youth. Do I feel younger? Nope. The water tastes a lot like the tap water. There are a lot of historical artifacts from the Timucuan Indians, the Spanish, etc. If you're looking for something family friendly and historical, it's a neat place to go.

Beth E.

Yelp
I have been to St Augustine's several times and never stopped here, but decided this was the time. I have traveled a lot and done lots of tours and self tours, but this one did nothing for me. The planetarium show was bad, and they let people bring dogs in, so we had this big husky near us panting loudly the whole 13 minutes. The exhibits are lame and I just felt I wasted $30+.

Katarina L.

Yelp
A day of history, walking around, peacocks and of course a sip of water from the Fountain of Youth! Yep, you get to take a sip of the water that Ponce De Leon hunted for. Can you tell?? The fountain was a little cheesy, complete with statues of the explorers and early inhabitants. But still cool to see. We also got to sit in on a black smith making a nail, which was actually a very interesting part of the exhibit! There were also reconstructions of a Native American village and their huts, a beautiful church, and extremely knowledgable staff that were more than willing there to answer questions. It has all the makings of a great school field trip, but if you are looking for a little history while visiting, it was a pretty nice spot. We happened to go on a cold and rainy day, but I would say 90% of the exhibit is outdoors, so try coming on a nice sunny day so you can enjoy the walk. Enjoy and happy exploring!

Alisha H.

Yelp
You get to drink from the fountain, but be warned it tastes like well water!- cause it is. This place is really cool, unfortunately, we didn't get to stay very long and there was much more to see, however we got to see the globe, planetarium, blacksmith, and walkway. lot os peacocks- they are not afraid of people. It is older for sure, but pretty cool. There is a lot to see and interactions, it's a bit older but a great experience and I would definitely like to come back to explore more!

O_ G.

Yelp
Great historical park! Many detailed historical presentations ! Plenty of parking but be ready they close at 5 and there are wedding renters!

Dana H.

Yelp
Absolutely one of the best places to visit ever! It is on our to go list every time only next time I'm gonna be taking some girlfriends and a bottle of wine and will be enjoying the park for many hours

Ronnie B.

Yelp
Ridiculous excuse for an "archaeological" park. A couple of plaques does not convey history or archaeology. Cheesy exhibits and the actual fountain is nowhere to be seen - just a pipe with sulfur water coming out. I drank it anyway - hope it works. The gift shop is a tiny, crowded area you have to go through to exit the place - what a waste of time and money.

Patty W.

Yelp
We rode the trolley to the park and made our way to the fountain after redeeming our tickets. We got a package deal through the Old Town Trolley and it saved us a few bucks. You'll live forever if you drink from the spring. The water tasted horrible though. Now the wait is real on restoring my youth...lol! We went to a planetarium show that had an globe and saw a blacksmith as well as a cannon demonstration. The bay view was ok and needed some clean up in some of the marsh areas. There was quite a few peacocks waiting on peanuts that are available at the gift shop to purchase for feeding. Overall, it was a good visit. It can get hot during the summer months since a majority of it is outside to explore and learn about the history of the different spots within the area. There's plenty of photo opportunities with the well kept scenery and the fun memories will last forever.

Joan K.

Yelp
Loved this. I've always wanted to visit the fountain of youth. I know this is silly. But my back hurt for almost a year. Nothing would help. But after drinking some water from the fountain of youth I feel less pain than I have in a long time. Great visit!

Ferd B.

Yelp
significant waste of time and money. This is a very run down tourist trap with "exhibits" that look like they have never been renovated and barely cared for. The informational placards were faded and while informative, ignored the full history of the area and the natives impacted by this explorer. Its was sad to see bus loads of kids, banned in Florida from learning actual historical facts lined up to drink from the "fountain of youth" then trotted around to learn more half truths. Seeing a cannon fire, a musket demonstration and a blacksmith hardly is novel nor substantively educational. The best part was the bar-b-que sold at the entrance (no admission fee required for that). Yes they are dog friendly in the sense that they are allowed everywhere and there were 2 water bowls located on the property, but if you want something worth your dogs time, take it to the beach.

Nicole W.

Yelp
We visited 4/26/23 and it was great. We loved the planetarium, and the giant globe show. It's old, but cool and kitschy. If you want to visit something that is "Old Florida" this is it. They have free roaming peacocks, some interactive interactions where they shoot off a cannon, they have a Native American couple talks about activities and ways they told time. And MOST importantly The Fountain of Youth. You are Welcome to take a cup and try it. While I didn't get any younger, I still enjoyed it a lot and would definitely go again.

Rachel M.

Yelp
Loved our stop at the Fountain of Youth. Came during my birthday visit and I thought this would be the perfect stop to drink for my youth! The water was not tasty lol! This place is historical & also full of nature. I try to picture how life was back in the day with the presentations, signs, and displays. There is a lot to see in a pretty environment. It's so cute to see the peacocks everywhere. You can even feed them at the end of everything. I'm glad we came here! I felt rejuvenated and happy seeing everything. I was also happy because they are dog friendly so it's nice that I can have my pup with me and see others. It is definitely a great spot to see when in St. Augustine.

Haley H.

Yelp
My family and I were passing through on our way to Tampa for Thanksgiving. We saw the park and thought it looked interesting. We paid the admission of $22 per person and walked in. The gardens are pretty and there are lots of peacocks. We went to see the coveted fountain. It was literally so cheesy. The "attractions" were nothing more than a few murals and artifacts. We quickly realized this was a waste of time and money. We had spent a total of eight minutes in the "park" so I suggested that we politely ask for refund. We all agreed. When my husband asked the clerk and told her we had only been there eight minutes and realized it wasn't for us, she called the manager. We waited for him and when he arrived he was super hostile and annoyed. Extremely rude, no apologies and accused us of taking advantage. Advantage of what? Your stupid, amateur attempt to swindle people's money? Absolutely rude and ridiculous. I mean it was less than 10 minutes! We will be disputing the charges with our credit card company and will warn everyone not to come to this dump. The manager is a complete ass.

Marti E.

Yelp
Very friendly and helpful staff. Time and money well worth spent to learn more about the New World history.

Aubrey F.

Yelp
Heard this park is a must for St Augustine visitors. Close to downtown and they offer free parking on site. The tickets were $17.79 for adults. They sadly do not offer discounts for Florida residents or law enforcement, only St Johns County residents. They had cute peacocks roaming. For $0.25 you can feed them peanuts. The park was fun and neat to explore. It was a beautiful day so we didn't mind wandering around.

Mechelle C.

Yelp
My husband was celebrating his birthday today and wanted to go to the Fountain of Youth. It was very educational! I was surprised at the history of the area and state. Having only lived in Florida 5 years now, I was grateful to have visited. The grounds are clean and they offer several presentations at different times and locations so you're busy if you want to be. It was very hot outside but most of the area is shaded. The bathrooms are air conditioned and clean, so I ducked in to cool off. A gift shop at the exit is reasonable to grab souvenirs to go. I recommend it, especially if you live here!

Mario N.

Yelp
I was really impressed by the Fountain of Youth Archeological site! Yes, there is the Fountain of Youth gimmick, but the real reason to visit is the extensive archeological findings and the Village of Seloy, the original site of the Temecua Native Americans, one of the First People groups of pre-Columbian Florida.

Sherry T.

Yelp
Unique history of the area. I enjoyed it. The peacocks were beautiful. The shows were informative.

M R S.

Yelp
Attended a wedding at this venue. I urged my friend to request a refund of some sort because of various mistakes/omissions. Not only was the champagne missing, the Sangria cart (Requested and paid for by the bride) was placed out of sight the entire evening. Worse, the cake was taken away and brought back in small portions... Some, including myself, never did receive a piece of the wedding cake. Not really sure what happened to the rest of the cake that night... So much for that $1000. One of the guests complained that they had been admonished by a staff member, because their children were not staying inside the given area. The cleanup crew started in before the celebration was even over. Disappointing

Jennifer L.

Yelp
I would say this is definitely more for adults or older kids who enjoy history. My husband and I loved all the live demonstrations and the employees that were there talking to you as you looked at the exhibits. As a teacher in St. John's county I loved learning even more about St. Augustine. I can't wait for next school year to integrate some of the info about Pone de Leon that I learned. You can drink out of the same fountain that Ponca de Leon did, which is cool to think about. Some of the presenters were funnier than others, but all were very knowledgeable about the time. It was an authentic as one can make it.

Amanda H.

Yelp
While in St. Augustine for Nights of Lights event, I decided to check out this place. Yes, your fur babies are welcome in all parts people are welcome. The prices for entrance fee are reasonable with all the educational spots throughout the place. The planetarium was educational with taking us back to 1513. The blacksmith did a great job sharing what it was like and what they did when they arrived in 1513. The kids loved the weapons and cannon firing examples. I enjoyed the views and walking on the boardwalk to view the marshes. The fountain of youth was fun. Bonus, my fur babies got to take part in drinking from the fountain of youth. Everyone was kind and park was setting up nicely. Each staff member was more than happy to answer our questions. I recommend this place for its educational activities.

Dawnene R.

Yelp
I'd visited here about 30 years ago and loved it. Visited again this past weekend and loved it again! It's true living history that everyone who has the opportunity should visit. Great place for people of all ages, nice gift shop...amazing grounds kept very clean...auspicious peacock was the highlight! A Must In St. Augustine

Alisa J.

Yelp
I loved exploring this place. The property is big and you can spend a whole day learning about the history! Visiting the fountain to have a drink of the water is fun and entertaining. One of my favorite parts was the planetarium. However the outdoor demonstrations they had outside were cool too. Highly recommend for any age!

Wendy B.

Yelp
I loved the history here. It was $34 for my husband and myself and I believe we had $1 off coupon. Not sure if that was for both or each. Definitely go to the planetarium before you go to the Globe. They explain some stuff prior to the planetarium show that would've been nice to know prior to going to the globe. Since we went during Covid I am not sure what their normal protocol is but the woman who was standing at the entrance of the fountain of youth simply ask them for a little story and the woman who I spoke with was named Wendy and she was very informative and knowledgeable with a lot of the historic information and Ponce de Leon etc. The way I understood it was normally they would actually have some fun of a person talking. But you definitely have to ask her if she has any information prior to going into the fountain of youth We walked around the whole complex we saw the cannon fire and we went to the weapons display, and the native Indian burial site, church etc. And the Peacocks are beautiful! SIDE NOTE FOR DOG OWNERS : if you're going to bring your dog I would be hesitant to bring it to the cannon display or the weapons displays because it definitely sounds like a real shotgun and there was a couple there who had a dog and let out a huge yelp and tried to hide and run away. I'm an animal lover and I think it's best not to put your animal through this.

Jeff N.

Yelp
They say when you visit St. Augustine for the first time, you should go to the Fountain of Youth once and drink from the spring. If you drank a cup of water, you will live forever. That's why to ensure I live forever; I had seconds and thirds but not more than that; otherwise, I would have felt like a hoarder. But I digress. Visiting the Fountain of Youth was cool, learning about the history of the site, with Ponce de Leon. Pricing wasn't bad as we had ordered our tickets online through one of the tourism portals. Parking is plentiful, with the property easy to follow. I enjoyed the firing of the cannon by the guard tower before walking up to the top to enjoy a view of the bay. Being a student of history, I did enjoy visiting the site, considering I have read about the Fountain of Youth since... (wait for it) my youth. Outside of the actual fountain, the updated theater with the globe, and the tower with the cannon demonstration, you've covered most of what's there to see. The selling point is the fountain for sure. But apart from that, once you have visited, you're good.

Crystal R.

Yelp
Wow! I cannot believe as many times as I have visited St. Augustine, this is the first time I visited this Gem. The nature and the combination of history is incredible. If you want down the lake path, you have incredible views of the bridge and city. I loved that they have a historical church called Old Mission Church and it was simply beautiful. I absoloutely love Peacocks and there were so many here I was simply in awe. Of course I had to drink a sample of the infamous Fountain of Youth. Forever Young!

Madame G.

Yelp
I've always read about this place as a kid but never had the opportunity to visit until recently and I'm glad I did. St Augustine is a small town but big in history and most famously known for the fountain of youth. Truthfully, I didn't like the taste of the water I don't believe anyone did lol. Nonetheless it is a nice place to visit. I highly recommend if you're into history. There's so much to do and learn. Oh be prepared to see wild peacocks walking around. There are educational shows that you can see while here as well.

Ericka G.

Yelp
There's alot to see here but the main attraction is the fountain of youth. The property alone is huge and has alot of different history and educational attractions within. From history of Ponce de leon to natives who lived on this land and their traditions, and archeological digs and findings, to disputes to who really owned the property over time. All over the property are also beautiful peacocks that you can feed and the fattest squirrels I've ever seen. Lots of places to take beautiful pics. At the actual entrance your handed a map so you can know what times certain shows, reenactments and artillery events. I strongly advise to keep hydrated and bring sunscreen. We almost passed out for not taking proper.precautions bit everything was so interesting to see. When we finally went to the fountain of youth it was cool to see it was as if it was in a big cave with more historical models and facts surrounding it. And it's actually not a big.fountain it's more of a small water fixture. Nevertheless we all took our cups and drank away. Some people filled up their empty water bottles to get more, lol. Still as a group of friends just enjoying the day this was a cool attraction. Now let's see if these sips I took work, LOL!

Nathan N.

Yelp
I went to this place with my wife and my two kids. We bought tickets then went into the section with the water that supposedly makes you younger. My wife and I both drank it, I know the water isn't supposed to do anything but I think it had results on my wife. She didn't think the same about me though. After the fountain we headed over to the cannon shooting. I really like cannons because one time my grandad Jim shot a small one in his backyard when he was drunk. Anyway it was impressive! Then the family all had to use the bathroom. While they were gone I snuck back to the fountain to drink more water because my wife is 12 years younger than me and I need to do all I can to keep our relationship from deteriorating. We all liked the peacocks who roamed the around the park. I saw one eating a filet of fish on the ground. I also enjoyed the blacksmith show with my family! One thing that could be improved is making the discovery globe show a little more exciting, but that's a small thing. After that we went up the tower but my wife stayed down because of her bad hip. It was a very impressive view to say the least. Finally we left through the gift shop. My son Cody wanted a knight helmet in the shop but I told him his granddaddy could just make him one when we got home. We ended up buying some very cool merchandise, just not the knight helmet. Also my rental car broke down a mile after I left but that has nothing to do with the fountain.

Yelp
This spells tourist trap. Haha. But! In the same sentence, I'd say to go one time to check it out. I wouldn't plan and spending too much time here just because it's SO HOT and a good chunk of it is in the sun. The fountain itself was fun to see. But that takes all of 5 minutes, and it's the first thing you do when you get into the park. The lines were moving along nicely though so it wasn't bad. They have a tonnnnn if peacocks! So I'm sure the little kids would love seeing those. It was kinda fun trying to find them and point them out to the rest of the group. Sometimes they were in the trees, or hiding in bushes. It felt like a game of "where's Waldo" almost the whole time. We saw some of the shows, the smithing one was cool, he made some nails, and we watched a guy fire his gun and talk about how those were made in the old days. We walked up to the tower and no one was there, a lot of people were missing out on that! It was a nice view and the breeze was excellent up there! A good place to recharge a little. Mothered a walk way that goes to nowhere-you can skip that. And that was our trip! Haha. Once was enough. Not cool enough to ever plan a trip back, but hey if you don't live there and want to do something with the kids it's a decent time waster it's good.

Yelp
We really were not sure what to expect when visiting the fountain of youth, and were concerned it may be a tourist trap. The location itself is fairly easy to find, and a little under a mile walk from the old-town/downtown area. If driving, there's also plenty of parking. I was pleasantly surprised how large of an area this place has (15 acres) and how many interesting exhibits/demonstrations there are. One of my favorite things was all of the peacocks wandering around that you can get fairly close to (there's also peanuts for sale to feed them, and the birds are so friendly they will eat them out of your hand). The fountain itself (yes you have to try the water if you're here) is surrounded by lots of information about how it was found and that point in time. The water tastes different with a touch of sulphur/minerality. Beyond the fountain, there's a theatre, planetarium, blacksmith demonstration and gun/cannon demonstrations in the mock-village set up, complete with character actors (feels a bit like Plymouth plantation). There's also a boardwalk that goes through the marsh area, and is a great bird-watching spot. It was interesting to learn about 'America's first colony'. For $18.79 a person, I think it's well worth it to wander around for a couple of hours.

Yelp
If there are any tours that you are considering purchasing while in Saint Augustine this one is a must. The park is beautiful filled with gardens, fountains, church, peacocks and of course the star of the show, the Fountain of Youth. I didn't think you could actually drink from it, but they hand you a cup and you can pour yourself some of that magic potion. They also have shows that reenact battles with cannons. All in all my trip would not have been the same if I hadn't visited the Fountain of Youth.

Yelp
Lovely place to spend the day, full of history and culture. It's suitable for dogs and it's enough to go but easy and entertaining.

Yelp
It is a nice park space and it was fun tasting the water. I feel that it could sure use upgrading and renovation. Especially considering the admission prices.

Yelp
Definitely worth checking out. Lots of interesting history, displays, and events. The planetarium gives a great, air conditioned history not to be missed!  Enjoy the many peacocks wandering the property. And of course, drink from the fountain!

Yelp
Despite some of the reviews, I thought this park was wonderful! It is beautifully manicured and maintained, with lush green space, beautiful trees, and dozens of peacocks roaming the park. There are even white ones! As a native Floridian, I hate to say that prior to my trip to St. Augustine I really never knew much. At each sight within the park, they have extensive historical explanations and blurbs. Learn all about the fountain of youth, the explorers, Native Americans, excavations, and even artillery use (they have a live cannon demo - cover your ears!). The park is also situated on the water and has a beautiful lookout where you can get a nice breeze on a hot sunny day. I spotted a few crabs and mullet here :) Everyone that works here is friendly, helpful, and will be happy to answer any questions you may have. We had a great time here! P.S. For anyone who has never been around a peacock before - don't be alarmed when you enter the park and hear dinosaur-esque sounds...that's just the funky peacock call :)

Yelp
Awesome piece of history! Plenty of shady spot and places to rest. Take a sip from the fountain and enjoy the beautiful grounds. Peacocks roaming around! The small 10 mins guided shows around the grounds are pretty cool- they are very knowledgeable and you can tell they love their job! Our family, from 6 to 66, enjoyed it.

Yelp
**THE LET YOU DRINK THE WATER** The water itself has all the minerals it's SUPPOSED to, so it's alkaline There's a lot to see, great for walking around I think this exhibit is great for a homeschooling field trip... actually the whole town is great for that
