The room was very spacious and clean. The hotel breakfast we purchased with the room was basic, but good. The location is right downtown. The only inconvenience is getting your parking ticket validated. If you don't have a rental car, no worries! You can walk to all the good restaurants!

Best spot in old town. We had the largest room on the floor in the modern building at the back of the hotel. Friendly front desk staff. Helpfull. Very nice amenities and no sign of wear and tear in the room. Couldn't control the Ac. that's the only thing I can find to say that wasn't optimal.

We enter the room and it is 70 F, so I find that we cannot directly control the thermostat. I call to ask that it be set to 78, but the highest (!!) possible is 72. We opened the balcony door to get it warmer (80), but were either hot or freezing all night. This is a complete no-go.|We were on the first floor, above a very noisy street. The door/windows are single pane, so the noise was terrible. All rooms face this street, but a higher floor might improve this. The sheets feel like polyester.|We thought the location would be nice: in the old city center. Unfortunately Ponce is now an abandoned wasteland (it lost 30% of the pop in the past 15 yrs). Avoid this hotel and avoid Ponce.

I had an emergency and had to cancel last minute. The staff and manager were very understanding , quick responses and were able to do accommodations for me. I can't wait to visit them in a couple of weeks! Thank you Plaza Ponce Hotel !

Google
Very convenient location and easy to get to. The casino is attached to the hotel and is open 24 hrs. We stayed in a Junior suit and had a fantastic view of the Cathedral from the balcony. Booked an extra night to stay for the Carnival. Another gem we didn’t expect to experience. We had a fantastic time.

Positive: I stayed here once a few years back and was glad to know they now have a small fridge and microwave in each room. I also got two complimentary bottles of water. I was very happy with my stay and the free breakfast each day of my stay. Love it! Negative: Everything was great. No complaints.

Google
Best location for that area, and I'll guess the best hotel. We were in a junior suite, it was older style but nicely updated. We ate in the wine room of the restaurant in the hotel, it was very good and reasonable compared to mainland US.If back in the area, will stay there again.

Yelp
Colonial type of building mix with modern rooms, confortable beds, clean rooms, comtemporary style showers not much hot water the pool is small but diferent looking than a regular pool it is a mix between colonial and moderm as it is the whole hotel. Nice and diferent restaurant at the bottom floor Walking distance from caffes, nighcluds, the placita.,souvenirs store and much more We will stay here again when we come back to PR Better that staying in san juan if you come with family. Many beutifull beaches close by like playa santa, guilligan island, caja de muertos island etc The only thing we didnnot like was the nooise coming fron the street but we were so tired at nigh that we took it as a local type of experience.

Yelp
Hotel was nice and the staff was very friendly however parking is extra and the restaurant are over priced. The location is perfect if you want to be in the center of Ponce. Nice view of the Castle of Don Q and the cross vigilia from the balcony.

Yelp
Overall horrible stay. The rooms are old and not real clean. Not outlets in the rooms without unplugging stuff. Worst part is the noise. The rooms are vented right outside so you hear everything in your room. The hotel decided to do some construction right outside the rooms. They needed a large crane to position something on the roof. So at 4am there are workers yelling and the crane is running. The rooms and vented to the outside so the exhaust fumes are coming in. It is impossible to sleep. Don't stay here.

Yelp
If you've got a lot of luggage, get it after you check in because you may be placed in the rooms that are in a separate building than the casino itself. Parking is $10 for 24 hours with ins and outs. Ponce Plaza Hotel is the first place we stayed in PR that had central AC. In addition, the temperature is easily adjustable with the thermostat. There's also running hot water, though you may not need it in such a humid place. The bed and linens are soft and comfortable too. In case you're wondering, there is no microwave or refrigerator in the room, but there is an ice machine. The room comes equipped with a coffee pot, but coffee grounds are not provided. If you're in dire need, you can go downstairs to Melao for your fix. We were here the night before Dia de Reyes and Ponce was poppin'! The street noise can be a bit bothersome, but it's bearable. What I like about this hotel is the location and convenience. The plaza and many points of interests are within walking distance. The front reception is also friendly and very helpful. Overall, not a 5 star experience, but pretty good for the price you pay!

Yelp
WHOA SHOCKED IN THE WORST WAY!!! We chose this hotel because it was as much as the casino resorts (get the resort) and heart of Ponce. We arrived at 4am and informed them prior, during booking, our flight lands early but were not informed of fee. It was fine but courtesy information should be given prior. The elevator is further and hidden when it should be accessible for handicap. The pool is pretty small and right next to the parking lot, no view. When we entered the room the smell of water mold smacks you in the face. The room was so tiny and out of date, I knew right away we were not staying. We couldn't shower off the airplane funk, as the standing shower floor was stained brown. The bathroom is extremely small as well which made sense why they only had the small standing shower, no tub. The AC was unmanageable and extremely loud like a motor running on no oil. My husband and daughter were exhausted, so we decided to sleep a couple hours before leaving. Sleep was impossible!!! Reminder we came at 4AM. Where the balcony (no sort of pretty view to the heart of Ponce) is you have the back of a building and parking lot with a alley it seems. 5AM a truck was having trouble backing up into something and it was extremely loud. Close to 545AM someone was honking like a maniac in the parking lot of the hotel that echos (which is the view when you open your room door so you hear everything). A little after 615AM workers began construction (which you are not given courtesy information prior after booking) and they were loud. Not only is the work being down loud but the workers are talking and laughing so loud there conversation sound as if they were in our room. We said we couldn't sleep so there was no point to stay longer. After 7AM we check out and they charged us over $250 for no more than 3 1/2 hours being there. I didn't have energy to argue because of no sleep. There is no Kidzone like you see in the picture, that is from a little corner of the cafe there and nomore game. We grabbed breakfast at 5hat cafe $17 for waffles and eggs with juice. I truly do not understand the great ratings as the room itself was more like one of those hourly cheap hotels. The colors of the building and certain little areas definitely cause deceiving pictures. We booked Hilton Golf & Casino Resort and wish we did that first. Holiday Inn Resort is the same price or $100 or $200 more just stay somewhere else and much nicer. Don't do it to yourself if you want to sleep and enjoy Ponce.

Yelp
The Ponce Plaza Hotel & Casino has great potential and a convenient location but missed too many of the small details. We stayed in one of the spacious junior suites. The room had a king bed, desk, lounge chair with ottoman, dressers, and an enormous bathroom. Those are huge pluses! What didn't I like? We had two rooms and neither had coffee. The machines were there. The caffeine was not. Maybe the rooms are so large that housekeeping got lost and forgot about the coffee. Another downer is that one of the rooms had absolutely no hot water---in the sink or shower. Also, for some reason (excuse we got was historical regulations) you can't control the AC temperature in your room and have to call the front desk to alter it. Finally, the noise was terrible. I understand we are in the center of Ponce and that the building is historic. Those are pros. The hotel's job is to make sure those don't turn into cons. On a weekday night I couldn't get to sleep at 10pm because of the bar diagonal from us blaring its music and residual noise from the main plaza. I really don't think I have ever stayed in such a noisy place...and our rooms were supposed to be the better ones on site. The hotel can certainly figure out a way to either insulate or cancel the noise, chat with the nearby bar owners about not making their patrons go deaf, or get involved with the municipality to pass a noise ordinance level. When a pair of 30 year olds (one being Latino) has a problem with the noise then there is probably something not okay. Parking was decent ($10) and conveniently behind the hotel. The lounge and hotel were kept up well. The reception was nice. Overall, not a great experience but my complaints are things the management could address.

Yelp
The location can't be beat--smack in the middle of the main square. The amenities are nice: coffee shop, pool (although quite small), lots of courtyard seating. The rooms are large and come with a microwave and mini fridge. The rooms are definitely a bit old and the outside walkways leave much to be desired. The walls are very, very thin. I could hear conversations in the hallway clearly. Also, the showers vent out into the hallway, so people outside can hear things in the bathroom quite clearly as well. The showers leak onto the bathroom floor and in my room the hot water was very temperamental. Some people in my group got locked out of their room because of a dead battery on the lock. It took the maintenance guy a full hour to look for the spare key, and the front desk seemed pretty unconcerned the whole time. It was late at night too, so they had to just wait out in the hallway for an hour. So anyway: excellent location, subpar rooms, not impressed with the service we received.

Yelp
Very noisy, Freezing room even after we ask 3 times to get a more acceptable temperature, mosquito all nights in room, we pay for a colonial room but the manager give us a room in the olde building. We had to complain to change ... they give us a room not clean at 8pm. We had to wait 1h to get the room.... and finally we find our door room open during the day. It is petty because the building is nice and location is great. Very good experience at Lola restaurant and the coffee place Melao.

Yelp
Booked this hotel based on reviews from other websites which gave it mostly 4 and 5 stars. I was unable to post my review on any of those websites - makes me wonder where those reviews come from. Stayed in the 2 bedroom suite. The room was spacious and we slept comfortably. The staff was pleasant and helpful - we needed extra pillows and blankets which they quickly brought to the room upon request. Parking was an additional $11 - not a big deal, just something you want to know up front. At the very least, I need a properly working shower. Showering was a horror. Low water pressure and the water was either scorching hot or cold. I was terrified of using the elevator - felt like it was on its last leg. The neighborhood was pretty devastated by hurricane Maria and not much has been rebuilt. Unable to find a decent place to eat. It was either very expensive and crappy food or eating at a hole in the wall filled with flies and mosquitos. I would never stay in this hotel again. Sadly Ponce is not what it used to be.
