Pongwe Beach Hotel

This hotel has a stunning location on the most beautiful beach. At high tide there is deep water and safe swimming. At low tide the colours and expanse of sand and pools are magical. The hotel has a large beach frontage that feels completely private. The infinity pool is beautiful and long. The hotel is well maintained and our room (#2) has a most wonderful view. The staff are attentive and well managed. The food is perhaps a shade off excellent, but the bar and restaurant and attractive and comfortable. This hotel is in a different league to any of its neighbours on this beach (avoid them).

The entire place is beautiful to relax. ||The Waiters all were very nice and their service was pleasant. The Rooms were super nice and clean and the private pool was the cherry on top of the beach view.||||But the Food was not at all as we expected. The chef did not understand the serving of hot meals or the guest's requirements. ||We had to return our food twice, but it was not according to what we requested. ||However, after complaining to Manager Shija, the chef was changed, and a chef called Zuhura was in charge. ||We had the best meals ever after that. The Seafood was fantastic, and the breakfast was also better than the other day. However, more variety of Breakfast would be of good option as compared to the same breakfast of egg menu with no additional sides such as sausages, baked beans, and roasted potatoes or something African style.||||The overall experience was good but I think the hotel room prices are a bit higher compared to the food served on a Half Board basis. ||||I recommend this place to relax as it has a private beach and not many guests. The best rooms are the ones with a private pool.||||||||||||

Great beach experience. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, the food is great, every meal was better than the last. One downside is that it's far from other places or villages, but it's good if you're looking for peace and quiet.

Pongwe beach hotel was an absolute paradise after a busy Safari. Our beachfront apartment was clean and spacious with a good shower and big bed (plus extra bed). The food both at breakfast and dinner was plentiful and delicious. We didn’t need lunch but the menu looked great. We loved sitting in the breezy bar for cocktail hour or ordering our drinks straight to our sun bed on the beach. The staff really go above and beyond to make sure you have the most wonderful, relaxing time. Thank you so much, we will definitely be back.

Third time we have been and will definitely be going again. ||The location is paradise. Private beach with white sands. Great for swimming at high tide and walking out at low tide to see all the sea life. Snorkelling out near the coral reef, just amazing. ||The rooms are spacious and can have a plunge pool if you wish.||The staff cannot do enough for you! ||Fantastic island! So so safe!

I spent 4 wonderful days with my family at Pongwe Beach Hotel at the end of October. We enjoyed everything and really appreciated the intimate atmosphere, the kindness of all the staff, the beauty of the location, the quality of the service and the excellent food. I loved the room, which was an independent unit, with a great view of the beach and sea, tastefully furnished and decorated in swahili style, with very comfortable beds and a large bathroom. We enjoyed a very personal attention form the staff, they organised a lovely celebration for my daughter's birthday and gave us a lot of advice and support about activities to do. We'll definitely go back again and recommend this hotel to our friends. Thank you for a great hospitality!

We recently completed a four night stay at the beautiful Pongwe Beach Hotel, 14-11 to 18-11-24. The accommodations, amenities, staff, and cuisine were all exceptional. We enjoyed experiencing the extreme low tides and could walk a mile from shore and still be in ankle deep water. High tides brought water deep enough to swim in with in 10 feet from the shore. The entertainment was excellent. One of our favorite things was the air conditioner built into the canopy over the bed which made for comfy cozy sleeping.

We loved our stay at the Pongwe Beach Hotel! The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, especially Moody, Hawa, Pile, Tawfiq, and many more. The food was incredible, and the beach was great for swimming. The early morning coffee delivered to the porch was a fantastic way to start the day! The staff also organized a romantic dinner by the sea that we absolutely loved. The only downside is that you need to get a car to access exchanges, supermarkets…etc. so we’d recommend finalizing these errands before arrival. Thank you for your hospitality, Pongwe Beach Hotel!
