This is my most surprised find during my trip to Tokyo. The soup curry is delicious, so much that I will make a trip again just to eat it. Service is excellent too! It is a homely feel. The fact that I was surrounded by locals do speak something about this gem find! Go level 2 direct for the restaurant.

Cosy little soup curry restaurant along Shimokitazawa which filled up really quickly upon opening. The order chit and vegetable illustrations on the board to showcase the daily vegetable menu were super cute. The soup was light yet very aromatic with lots of herbs and spices. It's hard to find a variety of cooked vegetables in Japanese cuisines so definitely recommended if you want a balanced meal. One thing to note is that ventilation is quite poor, the smell sticks to your clothes.

Very unique soupy curry with a great variety of ingredients. I have tried Indian curry, Chinese curry, Japanese curry and soupy curry was nothing like what I have eaten before! Do note that the portion is massive. But delicious and I recommend to anyone who is in the area! The area is somewhat stuffy with little ventilation. Our clothes still smell like the restaurant after we left the place.

Ponipirika delivers an unforgettable soup curry experience! The broth boasts incredible depth, rich with spices that linger beautifully on the palate. The vegetables and chicken were perfectly cooked—tender, juicy, and infused with flavor. The warm, inviting service elevated the meal, with waiters who were attentive and genuinely friendly. A must-visit for curry lovers in Kitazawa!

Best soup curry I've ever had, including while in Hokkaido. They have an English menu. Highly recommend getting grilled cheese for your rice and adding extra soup. I got the shrimp broth and thought it was so delicious! And I loved the chicken and all the vegetables. Family friendly too!

If you’re a fan of Sichuan or Korean cuisine, I’d suggest choosing at least level 6 spiciness for maximum satisfaction. The curry soup made with veggies and chicken is spot-on—I’d personally recommend the tomato base. My partner went for the venison curry, which was both unique and packed with deep, rich flavors.

Incredible soup curry! I didn't want to eat fried food with my group and wanted something with vegetables, and I found this place. They have an English menu so it was helpful for me to find something I wanted when I was alone. You can choose a lot of customizations and spice level- I think I got a 6 and I thought the balance of the soup was really good. The shrimp flavor with the vegetables was so good, and the chicken was cooked really well with a lot of flavor. I got the grilled cheese on rice like some other comments recommended and that was very yummy. Also got their homemade ginger ale and that was incredible- definitely recommend if you want something with vegetables and a break from the fried food!

They accept card and cash. You have to walk up to the 2nd floor. There is an English and Japanese menu. I ordered the 20 vegetables with crispy chicken, level 3 spicy, with Japanese style soup because the shrimp was out, large rice and a house made ginger ale. While it is a little more pricey for the curry it was very good, might have been the best one I had in Shimokitazawa. Also there’s free refills on rice also.

Yelp
기대보다 너무 맛있었어요! 옵션도 많구 일본 여행오면 꼭 다시 먹으러 올거에요 The soup curry here is so good! A lot of options to choose from and will definitely come back here again :D The menu was so cute decorated with illustrations. We also had cute bell to call the server (thought that this was interesting experience ).

Yelp
Very tasty soup curry for a chilly winter day. Tried: - the chicken + veggie + tomato broth + level 3 spice - the pork + mushroom + shrimp broth + level 3 spice The chicken definitely won. The skin was perfectly crispy with a juicy inside. The veggies were great. The broccoli was the big surprise winner--didn't expect it to be so good. Tomato broth was definitely a nice surprise too--and I don't even like tomato soup. Level 3 spice had just the right amount of kick. But eat slowly cuz it will be the type of spice that if you inhale the soup, it will hit the back of your throat and stay there. It's also one of the few places we could find authentic local food that also served a fresh green leafy salad. Something I've found hard to come by in Tokyo--unless you're willing to go to non-Japanese place. We were the only English speaking customers and there weren't any English menus--but the staff was very helpful and spoke plenty to help us order. Menu has lots of photos and images. I'd go again for sure.
